In a back and forth game, Questionable Outfit held off Eastbound & Dahn’s bottom-of-the-sixth rally to win a tightly contested game 7-6.

After pitching well in week 2, Ivan started on the mound for Eastbound & Dahn, but struggled with his command throughout the game. With one out in the top of the first, Ivan gave up a solo homer to Reilly, putting Questionable Outfit up 1-0.

His offense would help him out in the bottom of the first. Mike started for Questionable Outfit, and after retiring the first batter, gave up singles to Helal and Trevar. With two men on, Ivan doubled, scoring Helal and putting two runners in scoring position. Tim came to the plate and roped a single, scoring Trevar and Ivan and putting Eastbound & Dahn up 3-1. Mike stranded Tim at first to end the inning.

Questionable Outfit fired right back in the top of the second. Bob led off the inning with a solo homer, cutting the deficit to 3-2. Tom followed with a double, and after Reilly flew out to center, moved to third on a Mike single. With runners on the corners and one down, Bob singled, scoring Tom and tying the game at 3-3. Questionable Outfit had two runners on, but Ivan retired Tom to end the inning.

Mike retired the side in order in the bottom of the second. Mike and Bob each singled in the top of the third, but Ivan was able to get out of the jam without giving up a run, and the game remained tied.

With one out in the bottom of the third, Helal smacked a solo homer, putting Eastbound & Dahn back on top 4-3.

But once again, the lead wouldn’t last. Reilly led off the top of the fourth with a single, and Mike followed with a two-run blast, making the score 5-4. Bob followed with a single, but Ivan retired the next two batters to end the inning.

Mike rolled in the bottom of the fourth. Mark came into the game late, and slapped a single, but was stranded on base.

Eastbound & Dahn turned to a new pitcher, as Helal pitched a perfect frame in the top of the fifth, and Mike did the same in the bottom of the fifth, maintaining Questionable Outfit’s 5-4 lead.

Tom led off the top of the sixth with a solo homer, extending his team’s lead to 6-4. With one out, Mike hit his second homer of the game, providing his own run support and putting Questionable Outfit up 7-4.

Down three in the bottom of the sixth, Eastbound & Dahn started a rally. Ivan led off the inning with a single, and Mark followed with a deep two-run blast to right-center, cutting the score to 7-6. But Mike buckled down, retiring Tim and Helal in order to end the game, giving Questionable Outfit the win.

The victory moved Questionable Outfit to 2-3 on the season, and the loss dropped Eastbound & Dahn to 2-3.
