In one of the most one-sided games in EWL history, Questionable Outfit combined for 10 home runs to destroy the Ham Slams 17-0 in a game that was out of hand in the first inning.
Reilly started for Questionable Outfit, and he turned in one of the most dominant outings of the 2015 season. After giving up a one-out single to Adam, he struck out Dan to end the first. The Slams would only get one more hit the rest of the game.
Charlie took the mound for the Ham Slams, and Questionable Outfit put together what may be the most impressive first inning in league history, scoring 9 runs and collecting 7 hits before recording an out. Bob led off the game with a solo homer, making the score 1-0. Tom followed with a triple, and he scored when Reilly hit his first homer of the game, a two-run blast that made the score 3-0. Mike doubled, and Bob hit his second home run of the inning, a two-run shot that put Questionable Outfit ahead 5-0. Tom followed with a solo homer, and so did Reilly. The back-to-back homers gave Questionable a 7-0 lead. Charlie got Mike to ground out to left for the first out of the inning, but Questionable wasn’t finished with the bottom of the first. Bob doubled, and Tom hit a two-run homer, putting Questionable ahead 9-0. Reilly followed with a single, but Charlie got Mike to ground out to left for the second time in the inning, ending a huge inning of scoring.
Reilly retired the side in order in the top of the second, and Questionable added to their lead in the bottom of the inning. Bob led off the inning with a triple and scored when Tom hit an RBI single to make the score 10-0. Reilly followed with a homer, his third in only two innings, and Questionable led 12-0. Charlie would retire the next two batters to avoid another record-setting inning.
The Ham Slams went down in order in the top of the third, and after Charlie allowed a Tom single to start the bottom of the inning, he retired the next two batters for a scoreless inning.
Josh hit a one-out double for the Ham Slams in the top of the fourth, but as he did in the first inning, Reilly struck out the next batter to end the inning, maintaining the twelve-run lead. Bob led off the bottom of the fourth with a single, but Charlie pitched his second consecutive scoreless inning in the bottom half, and the score remained 12-0.
Reilly retired the Slams consecutively in the top of the fifth, and he’d get a few more runs of support in the bottom of the inning. Mike led off the inning with a single, and he scored from first on a Bob single to make the score 13-0. Two batters later, Reilly crushed his fourth home run of the game, putting Questionable ahead 15-0. Mike followed with a homer, as did Bob, and the back-to-back-to-back homers (the second time Questionable accomplished this feat in the game) made the score 17-0. Tom followed with a single, but Charlie retired Reilly to end the inning.
Down an overwhelming seventeen runs, the Slams went quietly in the top of sixth. Reilly mowed them down in order, completing a two-hit shutout to give Questionable Outfit a 17-0 win.
The win snapped Questionable’s three-game losing streak, and put them at 6-3 on the season. The loss moved the Ham Slams to 1-7.
