After keeping the Cookies & Cream bats in check for five shutout innings, Tim allowed three runs in the top of the sixth, as Cookies & Cream came from behind to stun the Ham Slams 3-1. Guthrie pitched a gem, outlasting Tim in a true pitcher’s duel, allowing only two hits in the complete game win.

Tim was in control early against Cookies, and he retired Guthrie and Blose in order in the top of the first. Guthrie, Cookies ace and starter, matched Tim in the bottom of the second, sending Levi Sanders and Josh down consecutively.

Tim continued to roll in the top of the second, retiring Joey and Dinger for a scoreless frame.

The Slams would take the lead in the bottom of the second. With one out, Kessler crushed a solo shot to left-center, putting the Slams ahead 1-0. Guthrie then got Levi Sanders to ground out to end the inning.

It looked as if Cookies & Cream would rally in the top of the third. Jordan started the inning with a single, and he moved from first to third on a Guthrie single. Tim got Blose to fly out for the first out of the inning, but Joey followed with a single, loading the bases. Tim avoided trouble, however, getting Dinger to ground out to right, stranding all three runners, ending the inning, and preserving the 1-0 lead.

Tim would single with one out in the bottom of the third, but the Slams couldn’t provide any run support, as Guthrie retired Kessler to strand Tim and end the inning.

Tim cruised through the top of the fourth, retiring Jordan and Guthrie consecutively, and Guthrie matched him in the bottom of the fourth, sending Levi Sanders and Josh down in order.

Blose tripled to start the top of the fifth, but Cookies & Cream would squander the runner in scoring position. Joey decided to attempt a bunt to squeeze the runner in, but Tim quickly grabbed the ball to retire Joey and stepped on the mound, catching Blose between third and home. The double play ended the inning, and the Ham Slams continued to lead 1-0.

Guthrie retired the side in order in the bottom of the fifth, and Cookies & Cream would head into the top of the sixth down a run, yet to have scored.

Tim remained in the game to close things out, and Dinger started the inning with a single. He moved to second on a Jordan groundout, and Cookies were down to their final out. With one out and the tying run on second, Guthrie came through in the clutch, hitting an RBI triple off the fence, scoring Dinger to tie the game at 1-1. The wheels then came off for Tim, as Blose followed with a mammoth blast to center, and his two-run bomb put Cookies ahead for the first time in the game, 3-1. Joey followed with a single, and when it looked like Cookies would blow open the game, Tim retired Dinger to end the inning.

After leading the entire game, the Slams came into the bottom of the sixth trailing by two runs. Cookies kept Guthrie on the mound, and he continued to roll. He retired Levi Sanders and Josh in order, the sixth and seventh consecutive batters he retired without allowing a hit. Guthrie had completed the two-hit shutout, and Cookies & Cream had come from behind to win 3-1.

The win moved Cookies to 10-5 on the season, and the loss dropped the Ham Slams to 7-8.
