Bob Hits and Pitches Questionable Outfit Past Ham Slams 8-3

Bob and his defense continue to strand Ham Slams runners, and Bob and his offense put together two big innings, as Questionable Outfit beat the Ham Slams 8-1

Bob pitched a complete game, allowing three runs in six innings, and went 5-for-6 at the plate to lead Questionable Outfit to an 8-3 win over the Ham Slams. Questionable Outfit jumped out to a big lead over the first several innings of the game, and the Ham Slams dug themselves into a hole that they couldn’t climb out of. Dustin had one of his best games of the season in a losing effort, as the Questionable bats and defense were too strong, and Questionable Outfit extended their lead in the EWL standings.

Josh started on the mound for the Ham Slams, and he fell behind early. Bob led off the game with a single, and he moved to second when Tom followed with a single. Josh then got Rairigh to ground out for the first out of the inning, but Bob scored on the play, putting Questionable Outfit ahead 1-0. Miller followed with an RBI double, scoring Tom from second, and Questionable led 2-0. Bob then doubled, scoring Miller, and the score was 3-0. Tom singled for his second hit of the inning, scoring Bob from second, but Tom was caught trying to extend the hit into a double, ending the inning with the score 4-0.

Dan hit a one-out double off Bob in the bottom of the first, but the Ham Slams couldn’t drive him in, as Bob retired Josh for the second out of the inning, stranding the runner.

Josh pulled things together in the top of the second, retiring the Questionable side in order. Dustin doubled with one out in the bottom of the second, but Bob stranded the runner for the second consecutive inning, retiring Dan to end the inning with the score remaining 4-0.

Questionable Outfit would blow the game open in the top of the third, taking a commanding lead. Josh retired Bob to start the inning, but Questionable would pull together a series of hits with one out. Tom singled, and he scored when Mike followed with an RBI triple that made the score 5-0. Miller then hit an RBI double to score Rairigh, and Questionable led 6-0. Bob finished the run by hitting a two-run homer to right-center, putting Questionable Outfit in front 8-0. Josh finally retired Tom to end the inning, and the Ham Slams trailed by eight.

Bob rolled through the bottom of the third, sending Josh and Steve down consecutively.

Josh matched Bob in the top of the fourth, retiring Mike and Miller in order.

Dustin singled to lead off the bottom of the fourth, but once again the Ham Slams couldn’t cut into the deficit. Bob retired Dan and Josh to strand the runner, and Questionable continued to lead 8-0.

Bob singled to start the top of the fifth, but Josh avoided further damage, getting Tom and Rairigh to each fly out, stranding Bob on base.

The Slams would finally get on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Steve started the inning with a triple, and Dustin drove him in with an RBI single that cut the score to 8-1. Bob would end the rally there, however, as Dan and Josh were sent down, stranding Dustin at first and ending the inning.

Bob doubled with one out in the top of the sixth, but Questionable wouldn’t add to their lead in the final inning, as Josh retired Tom to strand the runner, and the Ham Slams trailed by seven heading into their final at-bat.

Steve led off the bottom of the sixth with a double, and Dustin drove him in with an RBI double that made the score 8-2. Dan followed with a single to put runners on first and third with no outs. Josh hit a towering fly to center, which was caught by Tom, and Dustin tagged up to score on the sacrifice fly, reducing the deficit to 8-3. The Slams were down five with a runner on and one out, but Bob ended things there, getting Steve to fly out to center for the second out, ending the inning and the game.

The win moved Questionable Outfit to 9-2 on the season, and the loss dropped the Ham Slams to 5-6.
