
Guac Boys celebrate after Alec’s two-run homer, one of his three hits in a Guac Boys victory that maintained their tie for first place in the EWL standings
Alec went 3-for-3 and the Guac Boys did just enough on defense to hold off a late Cheap Goats rally in a 6-4 victory. Guac Boys led 6-1 heading into the sixth inning before allowing three runs with the tying run at the plate, but ultimately escaped with a win to remain tied for first in the season standings through three weeks. Joey went 6-for-6 in the loss, and Cheap Goats fell into a tie for last in the standings with Jack Shack.
Bohn started for Guac Boys, and he allowed a lead off single to Joey. Two batters later, Christian hit a one-out single to put runners on the corners, but Bohn escaped the inning unscathed, retiring Dinger to strand both runners, ending the inning.
Christian started for Cheap Goats, and he allowed Form to double to start the bottom of the first. Two batters later, Alec hit a two-run shot, putting Guac Boys ahead 2-0. Jan singled, but Christian stranded him, retiring Tone to end the inning, and Cheap Goats trailed by two runs.
Form went 2-for-4 with a single, a double, a run scored, and an RBI in Guac Boys 6-4 win over Cheap Goats
Joey led off the top of the second with a solo homer, cutting the Guac Boys lead in half at 2-1. Courtlen tripled, but Cheap Goats couldn’t tie the score. Bohn retired Christian and Dinger to end the inning, and Guac Boys led by a run.
Christian rolled through the bottom of the second, retiring Brum and Form in order.
Bohn had reached his innings limit for the week, and Guac Boys brought Jan to the mound in relief. Joey singled to start the top of the third, but he was doubled up when Christian grounded out to the mound, ending the inning.
Guac Boys extended their lead in the bottom of the third. Bohn led off with a triple, and Alec plated him with an RBI double, putting Guac Boys in front 3-1. Two batters later, with one out, Tone hit a two-run shot, and Guac Boys led 5-1. Brum singled, but Christian avoided further damage, retiring Form to strand the runner, and Cheap Goats trailed by four runs.
Jan continued to roll in the top of the fourth, retiring Christian and Dinger in order.
Alec hit a one-out single in the bottom of the fourth, but Christian stranded him, retiring Jan to end the inning, and Guac Boys continued to lead 5-1.
Joey doubled to start the top of the fifth, but Guac Boys continued to strand Cheap Goats runners. Jan retired Courtlen and Christian, stranding the runner at second, and the Guac Boys lead remained four runs.
Brum doubled with one out in the bottom of the fifth, and Form followed with an RBI single, pushing the Guac Boys lead to 6-1. Christian retired Bohn to end the inning, and Cheap Goats were down five runs heading into the top of the sixth.
Cheap Goats showed life in the sixth. Dinger singled, and Joey followed with a two-run homer, cutting the deficit to 6-3. Courtlen singled, and two batters later, Dinger hit a one-out single to put runners on the corners with one out. Joey hit an RBI double, scoring Courtlen, and Cheap Goats had narrowed the Guac Boys lead to 6-4. Cheap Goats had two runners in scoring position and the tying run at the plate, but Jan buckled down. He retired Christian for the second out, stranding two runners, and giving Guac Boys a 6-4 win.
The win moved Guac Boys to 5-1 on the season, and the loss dropped Cheap Goat to 1-5.
