Guthrie Named Week 9 PBR Wiffler of the Week

7 Jul

In one of the closest votes of the season, Guthrie narrowly edged Mike Marr and has been named the Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week for Week 9. Guthrie is the second member of the pennant winning Caucasian Vaginas to be named Wiffler of the Week in 2011.

Guthrie led the Caucasians on the mound and at the plate, helping his team clinch the first ever EWL pennant and moving into Cy Young contention.

For the week, Guthrie went 3 for 8 with 1 HR and 1 RBI with 2 runs scored. He scored on Morrison’s go-ahead home run to defeat the Fish Sticks in his team’s first game, then drove in one of two runs, including the winning RBI, in his team’s 2-0 win over the Dentists.

On the mound, he pitched a complete game 2-hitter, yielding only one run in a win over the Fish Sticks. And he also picked up the victory in his team’s second game, going 2-0 for the week after starting the game against the Dentists with two scoreless innings. He set a single game record by striking out three batters against the Fish Sticks, and recorded 8 put-outs for the week.

Guthrie fanned 3, allowing only 2 hits and 1 ER in 8 IP in two week 9 wins for the Caucasians.
