Bohn’s Two-Run Walkoff Homer Caps Rain-Delayed 11-9 Guac Boys Win Over Cheap Goats

Bohn had the best game of his wiffle career, going 5-for-7 with two singles, a double, two homers, three runs scored, six RBI, and the walkoff two-run homer that gave the Guac Boys a dramatic week 3 victory over Cheap Goats

After the week 3 game between Cheap Goats and the Guac Boys was interrupted by a rain storm, a week later, both teams came out firing. The squads went back-and-forth until Bohn ended the game with a two-run walkoff homer in the bottom of the sixth, giving the Guac Boys a 11-9 win. Bohn led the Guac Boys going 5-for-7 with two singles, a double, two homers, three runs scored and five RBI. Miller hit for the cycle and Joey went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two homers in the loss, and the Guac Boys established firm control of second place in the standings.

Kyle took the mound for the Guac Boys, and after allowing a leadoff double to Miller, he retired Joe. Joey followed with an RBI double, scoring Miller, but he was caught out trying to extend the hit into a triple, ending the inning.

Joey went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two homers, two runs scored, and six RBI in the Cheap Goats loss.

Down 1-0, the Guac Boys pulled even in the bottom of the first. With one out, Bohn hit a solo homer to center, tying the game at 1-1. Cheap Goats’ starter, Christian, allowed a one-out single to Kyle before striking out Anthony to end the inning.

Kyle cruised through the top of the second, retiring Christian and Dinger in order.

The Guac Boys pulled ahead in the bottom of the second. Brum led off the inning with a triple, and he scored from third when Bohn grounded out for the first out of the inning, making the score 2-1. Kyle then hit a solo homer, putting the Guac Boys in front 3-1. Anthony singled, and he moved from first to third when Brum followed with a single. Bohn then singled, scoring Anthony to extend the lead to 4-1. Kyle then hit Guac Boys’ fourth consecutive single, putting them ahead 5-1. Christian retired Anthony to end the inning, stranding two runners, and the Guac Boys led by four runs.

Joe singled with one out in the top of the third, but Kyle retired Joey to strand him, ending the inning.

At this point the rain became too heavy, and week 3 action was postponed for a week.

Play resumed a week later with action picking up in the bottom of the third. Jan led off with a single and moved from first to third when Bohn followed with a single, putting runners on the corner. Kyle hit a sac fly to center, scoring Jan to put the Guac Boys ahead 6-1. Christian then retired Jude to strand Bohn, ending the inning with the Guac Boys leading by five.

Christian singled to start the top of the fourth, and two batters later, Miller hit an RBI triple to score him, cutting the score to 6-2. Kyle then retired Joe to strand Miller at third, ending the inning.

Miller hit for the cycle for the first time in his wiffle career, going 4-for-5 with a single, a double, a triple, a home run, three runs scored, and three RBI.

Christian rolled through the bottom of the fourth, retiring Jan and Bohn in order.

Cheap Goats bounced back in the top of the fifth. Joey led off the inning with a solo homer, cutting the score to 6-3. Christian singled, and he moved from first to third when Dinger followed with a double. Miller singled, scoring Christian, and Cheap Goats trailed 6-4. Two batters later, Joey hit a one-out RBI double, clearing the bases to score Miller and Dinger, tying the game at 6-6. Kyle then retired Christian to strand Joey at second, ending the inning.

The Guac Boys responded in the bottom of the fifth. Kyle led off with a double, and he moved to third when Jude singled, putting runners on the corners with no outs. Jan hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Kyle to give the Guac Boys a 7-6 lead. Bohn then doubled, scoring Jude, and the Guac Boys were in front 8-6. Kyle also doubled, scoring Bohn, and the lead was 9-6. Christian retired Jude for the second out of the inning, and Cheap Goats trailed by three runs.

Down to their last at-bat, Cheap Goats rallied in the top of the sixth. Kyle retired the first batter he faced, Dinger, but allowed a one-out solo homer to Miller, which cut the score to 9-7. The homer gave Miller the cycle for the first time in his wiffle career. Joe then doubled, and Joey tied the game with a two-run homer to left-center. Kyle retired Christian to end the inning, but the Cheap Goats had tied the game with a three-run rally in the top of the sixth.

The Guac Boys didn’t wait long to crush Cheap Goats’ spirits. Jan led off the bottom of the sixth with a single, and Bohn ended the game with a two-run walkoff homer to right-center. The walkoff blast gave the Guac Boys an 11-9 win as they took control of second place in the EWL standings.

Shady Characters Rally in Seventh to Beat Jack Shack 10-7 in Extra Innings

Mike went deep twice, hitting a solo homer and a two-run shot, in addition to a single, leading Shady Characters to their fifth consecutive win.

Dylan, Mike, and Tom each homered and contributed three hits as Shady Characters pulled away from Jack Shack in the top of the 7th to win 10-7 and remain undefeated on the 2022 season. After allowing Jack Shack to tie the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the sixth, Jason, Nate, and Dylan all had hits in the top of the seventh to give Shady Characters an insurmountable lead. Tom pitched the complete game win for Shady Characters, moving to a league-best 5-0 on the season.

Brian took the mound for Jack Shack, and he fell behind Shady Characters early. Dylan led off the game with a single, and he moved from first to third when Mike followed with a single, Tom also singled, scoring Dylan from third, and Shady Characters led 1-0. Jason then hit a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Mike from third, and the lead was 2-0. Brian then retired Lucas to end the inning.

Tom struck out Adam to start the bottom of the first, and he then retired Brian to end the inning.

Tom pitched the complete game win for Shady Characters, and he also went 3-for-4 with two singles and a solo homer.

Brian fanned Nate to start the top of the second, and he got Dylan to ground out to right to end the inning with the score remaining 2-0.

Jack Shack pulled even in the bottom of the second. Rob led off with a double, and two batters later, Adam hit a two-run homer, tying the score at 2-2. Tom then retired Brian for the second out of the inning.

Mike immediately put Shady Characters back in front when he led off the top of the third with a solo homer. Brian retired Tom and Jason, and Shady Characters led 3-2.

Rob started the bottom of the third with a triple, and Austin drove him in with a two-run homer to right, giving Jack Shack a 4-3 lead. Tom retired the next two batters, Adam and Brian, to end the inning.

Brian rolled through the top of the fourth, retiring Lucas and Nate in order. Tom matched him in the bottom of the fourth, sending Rob and Austin down consecutively.

Down 4-3, Shady Characters had an offense burst in the top of the fifth that put them ahead. Dylan doubled to lead off, and Mike drove him in with a two-run homer to right-center, putting Shady Characters back in front 5-4. Tom then homered, and Jason followed with a solo homer. The back-to-back-to-back homers gave Shady Characters a 7-4 lead. Two batters later, Nate hit a one-out triple, but Brian avoided further damage, retiring Dylan to strand the runner at third, ending the inning.

Nate, who went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, hit an RBI double in the top of the seventh that put Shady Characters ahead for good.

Adam led off the bottom of the fifth with his second homer of the game, a solo shot, that cut the score to 7-5. Two batters later Rob hit a one-out triple, but Tom stranded him, retiring Austin to end the inning.

Brian retired Mike to start the top of the sixth, and when Tom singled with one out, he was caught trying to advance the hit into a double, ending the inning.

Down 7-5, Jack Shack rallied in the bottom of the sixth. Adam singled, and two batters later, Rob hit a two-run homer, tying the game at 7-7. Austin followed with a double, putting the winning run in scoring position. But Jack Shack couldn’t capitalize, as Tom struck out Adam for the second time in the game, ending the inning and sending the game to extras.

Rob went 4-for-6 with four extra-base hits, including a double, two triples, and a two-run homer, in the Jack Shack loss.

Shady Characters immediately got to work in extra innings. Jason singled, and two batters later, Nate hit a one-out RBI double to score him from first, putting Shady Characters ahead 8-7. Dylan followed with a two-run homer, extending the Shady Characters lead to 10-7. Brian retired Mike to end the inning, and Jack Shack trailed by three heading into the bottom of the seventh.

Tom remained in the game to close things out for Shady Characters, and he made quick work of Jack Shack in the bottom of the seventh. He retired Brian and Rob in order, ending the game, and giving Shady Characters a 10-7 win.

The win Shady Characters to 5-0 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 1-4.

Mike of Shady Characters Named Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week

The 2021 EWL Wiffler of the Year continues to wreak havoc against opposing pitchers, and after a dominant week two in which he led his squad to two victories, Mike was voted the Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week for week 2 of the 2022 season.

In a 3-2 extra-innings win over the Guac Boys, Mike went 2-for-4 with a single, a home run, a run scored, and two RBI.

In a 12-2 rout of Cheap Goats, Mike went 4-for-5, hitting for the cycle for the first time in his career as he collected a single, a double, a triple, a home run, scored three runs, and had four RBI.

In total, Mike went 6-for-9 in week 2 and defending champions Shady Characters remain undefeated at 4-0 after two weeks of the 2022 season.

This is the fourth time Mike has been voted PBR Wiffler of the Week. He received the honors once in 2020 and three times in 2021.

Guac Boys Hit Six Homers in 17-2 Rout of Jack Shack

The Guac Boys unloaded for seventeen runs on eighteen hits against Jack Shack and cruised to an easy victory

The Guac Boys had what may have been their biggest offensive output in franchise history in a 17-2 blowout of Jack Shack that was never a contest. Six players had multiple extra-base hits, and the Guac Boys went deep six times, as Jan cruised to a complete game win over Jack Shack.

Jack Shack started on a good note when their first batter of the game, Adam, hit a solo homer of Jan, making the score 1-0. Josh then doubled, and Brian drove him in with an RBI single, putting Jack Shack ahead 2-0. Jan allowed a out-out single to Sean, but retired Rod to strand him at first, ending the inning.

The Guac Boys evened things up in the bottom of the first. Austin led off with a double, and Jude drove him in with an RBI double, making the score 2-1. Two batters later, Brum hit a one-out RBI single, scoring Jude to tie the game at 2-2. Jack Shack’s starter, Adam, then retired Bohn to strand Brum at first, ending the inning with the game tied.

Josh hit a one-out triple in the top of the first, but Jack Shack couldn’t plate him, as Jan retired Brian to strand him at third, ending the inning.

Adam then retired Bohn to end the inning, and Jack Shack trailed by five.

Jan led off the bottom of the third with a double, and Alec drove him in with a two-run homer, putting the Guac Boys in front 9-2. Adam retired the next two batters, Austin and Jude, to end the inning.

Rod singled to lead off the top of the fourth, but Jan retired Adam and Josh to strand him, and the Guac Boys continued to lead by seven runs.

Jack Shack brought Josh to the mound in the bottom of the fourth, and he got into trouble immediately. Brum and Bohn each singled with one out, putting runners on the corners. Jan cleared the bases with a three-run homer, extending the Guac Boys lead to 12-2. Alec followed with a homer, and the back-to-back jacks put the Guac Boys in front 13-2. Austin singled, and Jude drove him in with an RBI triple that made the score 14-2. Kyle then doubled to score Jude, and the Guac Boys lead 15-2. Brum followed with his second homer of the game, a two-run shot that put the Guac Boys ahead 17-2. After allowing eight consecutive hits, Josh retired Bohn for the second out of the inning, and Jack Shack trailed by thirteen runs.

Brian led off the top of the third with a triple, but was caught out trying to extend the hit into an inside-the-park homer. Rob then singled, but was caught in between bases when Sean followed with a single. Despite recording three hits in the inning, Jack Shack had made two outs, and had scored no runs.

After allowing eight runs in the bottom of the fourth, Josh retired the Guac Boys in order in the bottom of the fifth, sending Jan and Alec down consecutively.

Jack Shack went quietly in the top of the sixth. Jan struck out Rod and then retired Adam to end the game, giving the Guac Boys a 17-2 win.

The win moved the Guac Boys to 2-2 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 1-3.

Mike Hits for Cycle as Shady Characters Storm Past Cheap Goats 12-2

Led by Mike, who hit for the cycle, Shady Characters remained undefeated on the 2022 season with a resounding 12-2 win over Cheap Goats

Five Shady Characters had three or more hits, and Mike capped off hitting for the cycle with a two-run homer in the sixth en route to a 12-2 runaway win over Cheap Goats. Dylan, Lucas, Austin, and Nate had three hits each, Mike had four hits, and Lucas and Tom held Cheap Goats to only two runs as Shady Characters continued their undefeated start to the 2022 season.

Christian took the mound for Cheap Goats, and Shady Characters got to him early. Dylan led off the top of the first with a solo homer, giving Shady Characters a 1-0 lead. Mike followed with a double, and two batters later, Jason hit an RBI single to score him, making the score 2-0. Lucas then tripled, scoring Jason, and Shady Characters led 3-0. Christian then retired Nate to end the inning.

Tom started for Shady Characters, and after allowing a one-out single to Joe, he retired Joey to strand him at first, ending the inning.

Mike singled with one out in the top of the second, but Christian stranded him, retiring Tom to end the inning, and the score remained 3-0.

After pitching seven innings in the first game of week 3, Tom had met his innings limit for the week after one inning. Lucas came to the mound in relief, and after allowing a one-out double to Jordan, he stranded him, retiring Dinger to end the inning.

Shady Characters blew the game open in the top of the third. Lucas doubled with one out, and Nate drove him in with an RBI double, making the score 4-0. Lucas led off the top of the fourth with a single, and he moved from first to third when Nate followed with a single. Two batters later, Dylan hit an RBI single to score Lucas, putting Shady Characters ahead 9-1. Christian then retired Mike to strand two runners.

Two batters later, Mike hit a two-run homer to deep right-center, completing the cycle and putting Shady Characters ahead 12-2. Christian retired Tom to end the inning, and Cheap Goats were down ten runs.

Lucas made quick work of Cheap Goats in the bottom of the sixth. He retired Jordan and Dinger in order, ending the game, and giving Shady Characters a 12-2 win.

The win moved Shady Characters to 4-0 on the season, and the loss dropped Cheap Goats to 1-3.
