Lucas of Shady Characters Named Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week

Lucas of Shady Characters was named the Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week for week 7 of the 2021 EWL season after having one of the best weeks of his wiffle career.

The story of Lucas’s season has had two parts; a slow first half and a much improved second half. He continued the upswing of his 2021 campaign with a strong week 7, and he earned Wiffler of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

In a 7-4 win over Cheap Goats, Lucas went 3-for-5 with a single, two doubles, and RBI, and a run scored.

In a 4-2 loss to Jack Shack, Lucas went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, an RBI, two runs scored, and four putouts. He also pitched three innings of effective relief, allowing only one run on one hit.

In total, Lucas went 5-for-8 with four extra-base hits.

This is the first time Lucas has been named Wiffler of the Week.

Adam and Dustin Lead Jack Shack to 4-2 Defeat of Shady Characters

Led by Adam, who went 3-for-4 with three extra-base hits and three runs scored, and Dustin, who allowed only two runs on five hits to the powerful Shady Characters offense, Jack Shack picked up a big 4-2 win over the best team in the EWL in 2021. Adam had two doubles and a homer, which accounted for three of Jack Shack’s four total hits in the win.

Dustin allowed a one-out single to Mike in the top of the first, but stranded him, retiring Tom K to end the inning.

Jack Shack took an early lead in the bottom of the first. Tom K, Shady Characters starter, allowed a lead off double to Adam. When the next batter, Brian, grounded out to second, Adam scored on the play, putting Jack Shack in front 1-0. Tom K then retired Dustin to end the inning.

Shady Characters tied things up in the top of the second. With one out, Lucas hit a solo homer to right, making the score 1-1. Dustin then retired Dylan to end the inning.

Jack Shack responded in the bottom of the second. Josh D immediately reclaimed the lead with a solo homer to right, putting Jack Shack ahead 2-1. Adam then doubled, and like the first inning, he scored when Brian grounded out for the first out of the inning. Tom K then retired Dustin to end the inning, and Jack Shack led 3-1.

Mike singled to start the top of the third, but once again, Dustin stranded him. He retired Tom K and Nate to strand Mike at first, ending the inning.

Tom K had reached his innings limit for the week, and Lucas came to the mound for Shady Characters. After retiring Josh D for the first out in the bottom of the third, he allowed a solo homer to Adam, extending Jack Shack’s lead to 4-1. Lucas then retired Brian to end the inning.

Shady Characters narrowed the deficit in the top of the fourth. Lucas led off with a double, and he moved to third when Dylan followed with a double. With no outs and two runners in scoring position, Mike grounded out to left. Lucas scored on the play, and Shady Characters trailed 4-2. Dustin got the next batter, Tom K, to fly out to right, stranding Dylan at third and ending the inning.

Lucas rolled through the bottom of the fourth, retiring Dustin and Josh D in order.

Dustin matched Lucas in the top of the fifth, sending Nate and Lucas down consecutively.

Lucas continued to pitch effectively in the bottom of the fifth, retiring Adam and Brian.

With a two-run lead, Dustin remained on the mound to close things out for Jack Shack. After retiring Dylan for the first out of the inning, Jack Shack intentionally walked Mike. The move paid off, as Dustin retired Tom K to strand Mike at first, ending the inning and giving Jack Shack a 4-2 win.

The win moved Jack Shack to 6-8 on the season, and the loss dropped Shady Characters to 10-4.

Cheap Goats Outlast Guacamol-yay 5-4 to Snap Losing Streak

Opposing forces collided in week 7 when Guacamol-yay, on a five game winning streak, met Cheap Goats, on a five game losing streak. When all was said and done, both streaks had ended, as Cheap Goats came out on top 5-4. Joey had four hits, Jordan homered, and Miller contributed three extra-base hits in addition to pitching the complete game win, as Cheap Goats returned to .500 on the season.

Miller retired Guacamol-yay in order in the top of the first, sending Jan and Jude down consecutively.

Cheap Goats took an early lead in the bottom of the first. Miller led off the inning with a double, and Joey drove him in with an RBI single that made the score 1-0. Guacamol-yay’s starter, Jan, retired the next two batters, Jordan and Dinger, to strand Joey at first and end the inning.

Guacamol-yay evened things up in the top of the second. Alec led off with a triple, and when Ryan grounded out to left for the first out of the inning, Alec scored to tie the game at 1-1. Miller then retired Kyle to end the inning.

Cheap Goats pulled back in front in the bottom of the second. Joey hit a one-out double, and Jordan drove him in with an RBI single that made the score 2-1. Jan then retired Dinger to strand Jordan at first, ending the inning.

Jan singled to lead off the top of the third, but Miller stranded him, retiring Jude and Alec to end the inning.

Cheap Goats extended their lead in the bottom of the third. Miller led off with a triple, and two batters later, Jordan hit a two-run homer, putting Cheap Goats in front 4-1. Jan then retired Dinger to end the inning.

Down three, Guacamol-yay once again tied things up in the top of the fourth. Ryan led off the inning with a solo homer, narrowing the score to 4-2. Kyle doubled, and Jan drove him in with an RBI double, making the score 4-3. Two batters later, Alec hit a one-out RBI triple, scoring Jan, and the game was tied at 4-4. Miller then retired Ryan to strand Alec at third, ending the inning.

Miller immediately made up the damage by providing his own run support with a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the fourth. Joey then singled, but when Jordan flew out to shallow center, Alec doubled Joey up, ending the inning.

Miller rolled through the top of the fifth, retiring Kyle and Jan in order.

Dinger doubled to lead off the bottom of the fifth. Jan retired Miller, and then when Joey singled with one-out Dinger was caught in between bases, ending the inning.

Down a run, Guacamol-yay couldn’t conjure the magic to extend their winning streak in the top of the sixth. Miller retired Jude and Alec, ending the game and giving Cheap Goats a 5-4 win.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 7-7 on the season, and the loss dropped Guacamol-yay to 5-9.

Shady Characters Cruise Past Cheap Goats 7-4 as Goats Drop Fifth Straight

After starting the season 6-2, Cheap Goats dropped their fifth straight to drop under .500 to 6-7 as Shady Characters stormed past them 7-4. Dylan, Mike, Nate, and Lucas each delivered three or more hits, and Tom had two hits in addition to pitching a complete game victory for Shady Characters, who extended their first place lead in the 2021 EWL standings.

Dinger took the mound for Cheap Goats, and he fell behind early. He allowed a leadoff single to Dylan, and Mike followed with a double, putting two runners in scoring position with no outs. The next batter, Tom K, grounded out to center for the first out of the inning, but both runs scored on the play, putting Shady Characters ahead 2-0. Nate then doubled, and Lucas drove him in with an RBI double, extending the Shady Characters lead to 3-0. Dinger retired Dylan to escape the inning, and Shady Characters had taken an early three run lead.

Cheap Goats cut into the lead in the bottom of the first. Joey doubled with one out, and Miller drove him in with an RBI single, making the score 2-1. Tom K, Shady Characters starter, then retired Dinger to end the inning, stranding Miller at first.

Mike singled to start the top of the second, but Dinger stranded him, retiring Tom K and Nate to end the inning.

Tom K rolled through the bottom of the second, retiring Jordan and Joey in order.

Shady Characters extended their lead in the top of the third. Lucas and Dylan each singled to start the inning, and Mike cleared the bases with a three-run blast to right-center, putting Shady Characters in front 6-1. Tom K followed with a single, and after Nate flew out for the first out of the inning, Tom K moved from first to third when Lucas hit a one-out double. Shady Characters had two runners in scoring position, but Dinger escaped the inning, retiring Dylan to strand both runners, and Shady Characters led by five runs.

Cheap Goats bounced back in the bottom of the third. Miller led off the inning with a double, and Dinger drove him in with an RBI double, cutting the score to 6-2. Two batters later, Joey hit an RBI double, scoring Dinger, and Cheap Goats trailed 6-3. Miller then doubled to score Joey, and Cheap Goats were down two runs. Tom K retired Dinger to end the inning, stranding Miller at second.

Shady Characters got one run back in the top of the fourth. Tom K doubled with one out, and Nate drove him in with an RBI double, giving Shady Characters a 7-4 lead. Dinger then retired Lucas to strand Nate at second, ending the inning.

Jordan singled to lead off the bottom of the fourth, but he was caught out trying to extend the hit into a double. Tom K then retired Joey for the second out of the inning.

Dylan doubled to start the top of the fifth. When Mike, the next batter, singled, Dylan was throw out trying to score on the play. Dinger then retired Tom K, stranding Mike at first and ending the inning.

Tom K retired the side in order in the bottom of the fifth, sending Miller and Dinger down consecutively.

Nate led off the top of the sixth with a double, but Shady Characters couldn’t add an insurance run. Dinger retired Lucas and Dylan, stranding Nate at second and ending the inning.

Down three runs, Cheap Goats couldn’t rally in the bottom of the sixth. Jordan led off the inning with a single, but Tom K retired Joey and Miller, stranding Jordan, and ending the game to give Shady Characters a 7-4 win.

The win moved Shady Characters to 10-3 on the season, and the loss dropped Cheap Goats to 6-7.

Kyle’s Solo Homer in Seventh Inning Pushes Guacamol-yay to 3-2 Win Over Jack Shack

With the game tied at 2-2 in the top of the seventh inning, Kyle led off the extra innings with a solo homer, putting Guacamol-yay ahead 3-2. They shutdown Jack Shack in the bottom of the seventh, hanging on to win, notching their fifth straight victory.

Brian took the mound for Jack Shack, and after allowing a one-out double to Jude in the top of the first, he retired Alec, stranding Jude at second and ending the inning.

Ryan started for Guacamol-yay, and he retired the side in order in the bottom of the first, sending Adam and Brian down consecutively.

Guacamol-yay got on the board in the top of the second when Ryan led off the inning with a solo homer. Brian later allowed a one-out double to Jan, but escaped further damage, retiring Jude to strand Jan at second.

Jack Shack responded and took the lead in the bottom of the second. With one out, Josh D doubled, and the next batter, Adam, hit a two-run homer, putting Jack Shack in front 2-1. Ryan then retired Brian to end the inning.

Ryan singled with one out in the top of the third, but Brian stranded him, retiring Kyle to end the inning.

Josh D doubled with one out in the bottom of the third, but Jack Shack couldn’t extend their lead, as Ryan retired Adam to strand the runner, ending the inning.

Jude singled with one out in the top of the fourth, but Brian stranded another Guacamol-yay runner, retiring Alec to end the inning.

Brian led off the bottom of the fourth with a single, but when Dustin followed with a single, Brian was caught in between bases for the first out of the inning. Ryan then retired Josh D to strand Dustin at first, ending the inning with the score remaining 2-1.

Kyle singled with one out in the top of the fifth, but once again, Brian stranded a Guacamol-yay runner. He retired Jan, stranding Kyle at first, and Jack Shack continued to lead 2-1.

Ryan rolled through the bottom of the fifth, retiring Adam and Brian in order.

Down a run in their final at-bat, Guacamol-yay rallied in the top of the sixth. Jude led off with a triple, putting the tying run in scoring position with no outs. Brian got the next batter, Alec, to ground out for the first out of the inning, but Jude scored on the play, tying the game at 2-2. Brian then retired Ryan to end the inning.

Guacamol-yay made an interesting strategic decision to start the bottom of the sixth, intentionally walking Dustin, putting the winning run on base with no outs. The move paid off, as Ryan retired Adam and Josh D, stranding Dustin at first, sending the game to extra innings.

Kyle led off the top of the seventh, and he hit a solo homer, putting Guacamol-yay ahead 3-2. Two batters later, Jude hit a single, and Alec followed with a single, putting two runners on with one out. It looked as if Guacamol-yay would blow the game open, but Brian escaped further damage, retiring Ryan to strand both runners, and the score was 3-2.

Ryan stayed on the mound to close things out in the bottom of the seventh, and he made quick work of Jack Shack. He retired Brian and Dustin in order, ending the game, giving Guacamol-yay the 3-2 extra-innings win.

The win moved Guacamol-yay to 5-8 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 5-8.
