Jack Shack Explode on Offense in 15-8 Win Over Cheap Goats

Dustin continued his hot start to the 2020 season, going 6-for-7 to lead Jack Shack on offense

Jack Shack handed Cheap Goats their first loss of the year, jumping out to a 13-3 lead before holding on to win 15-8. Dustin and Turbo each went 6-for-7 in the game to lead Jack Shack, and Brian pitched the complete game win. Jack Shack pulled a game behind Cheap Goats in the early-season standings, tied for second place with Guacamol-yay.

Dinger took the mound for Cheap Goats, and he got off to a good start, retiring Adam and Brian in order in the top of the first.

Cheap Goats pulled ahead in the bottom of the first, and it would be their first and only lead in the game. Joey doubled to start the inning, and the next batter, Brett, hit an RBI single to make the score 1-0. Brian got Jordan to fly out to the mound, and Brett was doubled-up on the play, ending the inning.

Jack Shack got on the board in the top of the second. Turbo doubled with one out, and Adam followed with a two-run homer, putting Jack Shack ahead 2-1. Dinger then got Brian to ground out to center to end the inning.

Dinger singled with one out in the bottom of the second, but Brian stranded him, retiring Joey for the second out, and the score remained 2-1.

Jack Shack began to pummel the ball in the top of the third. Dustin led off with a double, and Turbo drove him in with an RBI double, making the score 3-1. Adam then doubled, scoring Turbo to extend the lead to 4-1. Two batters later, Dustin hit a two-run homer, and Jack Shack led 6-1. Turbo then singled, but Dinger escaped further damage, retiring Adam to end the inning with Jack Shack ahead by five runs.

Brett led off the bottom of the third with a solo homer to right, and Cheap Goats had cut the score to 6-2. Christian later doubled with one out, but Brian stranded the runner, retiring Dinger to end the inning.

Jack Shack added to their lead in the top of the fourth. Dustin doubled with one out, and Turbo followed with a single, putting runners on the corners. Adam then doubled, scoring Dustin, and Jack Shack extended their lead to 7-2. Brian followed with a bases-clearing triple, driving in two, and putting Jack Shack ahead 9-2. Dustin followed with a single which scored Brian, and the score was 10-2. Dinger finally escaped the inning by striking out Turbo, and Cheap Goats trailed by eight.

Joey started the bottom of the fourth with a solo shot, and the Jack Shack lead was cut to 10-3. Cheap Goats couldn’t rally though, as Brian retired Brett and Jordan to end the inning.

Jack Shack continued to add runs in the top of the fifth. Adam led off with a double, and two batters later, Dustin hit an RBI double to score him, putting Jack Shack ahead 11-3. Turbo followed with a two-run homer, and the score was 13-3. Dinger was removed from the mound, and Cheap Goats called Christian from the bullpen. He retired the first batter he faced, Adam, to end the inning.

Down ten runs, Cheap Goats started a small rally in the bottom of the fifth. Christian tripled to lead off the inning, and two batters later, Joey hit a two-run homer, his second blast of the game, to make the score 13-5. Brett then doubled, and Jordan drove him with an RBI double that cut the deficit to 13-6. Brian got Christian to groundout to right, ending the inning, and Jack Shack led by seven.

Jack Shack made up the runs in the top of the sixth. Dustin singled with one out, and Turbo followed with his second two-run homer of the contest, putting Jack Shack ahead 15-6. Christian then retired Adam to end the inning, and Jack Shack had a nine run lead heading into the final frame.

Dinger started the bottom of the sixth with a double, and Joey drove him in with an RBI triple that made the score 15-7. Brett then singled, scoring Joey from third, and Cheap Goats trailed 15-8. Jordan followed with a single, putting runners on the corners with no outs. It looked as if Cheap Goats were poised to rally, but Brian shut it down. He retired Christian and Dinger consecutively, ending the game and giving Jack Shack the win.

Jack Shack moved to 2-2 on the season, and Cheap Goats fell to 3-1.

Christian Pitches Gem as Cheap Goats Remain Undefeated in 12-1 Rout of Guacamol-yay

Christian was dominant on the mound, and had a perfect game through four innings, ultimately allowing only one run on three hits in the complete game win

Cheap Goats continued their hot start to the 2020 season, beating Guacamol-yay 12-1 and moving to 3-0. Christian was dominant on the mound, allowing only one run on three hits, and striking out two in the complete game win. Joey, Brett, and Dinger each contributed four hits for Cheap Goats, as they remained in first place early in the EWL standings.

Jan started on the mound for Guacamol-yay, and he rolled through the top of the first, retiring Joey and Brett in order.

Cheap Goats’ starter, Christian, matched him, sending Jan and Josh down consecutively in the bottom of the first.

Jan continued to pitch well in the top of the second. He struck out Jordan, in his first at-bat of the 2020 season, for the first out of the inning. Christian followed with a single to right, but was gunned down trying to advance the single to a double, ending the inning.

Christian cruised through the bottom of the second, retiring Jude and Beau, and the game was scoreless through two innings.

Cheap Goats got out their bats in the top of the third, logging a huge inning that would be more than enough run support for Christian. Dinger led off the inning with a ground-rule double, and the next batter, Joey, drove him in with a double, putting Cheap Goats on the board. Brett followed with a double, scoring Joey to make the score 2-0. Jordan then singled to put runners on first and third with no outs. Christian grounded out to right, but Brett scored on the play, and Cheap Goats led 3-0. Dinger then singled, scoring Jordan, and the score was 4-0. Joey singled, putting runners on first and second. Brett then doubled, scoring Dinger from second, and Cheap Goats took a 5-0 lead. Jordan followed with a single, scoring Joey, and the lead was extended to 6-0. Christian followed with a single, the fifth consecutive Cheap Goats hit, scoring Brett, and Guacamol-yay trailed 7-0. Dinger also singled, and the next batter, Joey, doubled, scoring two runs to put Cheap Goats ahead 9-0. Jan finally escaped the inning, getting Brett to ground out to center, stranding two runners. Cheap Goats had scored nine runs in the inning.

Cheap Goats came back to Earth in the top of the fourth, as Jan retired Jordan and Christian, and the score remained 9-0.

Christian’s hot hand continued in the fourth, as he retired Jude and fanned Beau, making him perfect on the mound through four innings.

Cheap Goats added to their lead in the top of the fifth. Joey doubled with one out, and Brett drove him in with a double, putting Cheap Goats up by double digits. Jordan then singled, scoring Brett, and the score was 11-0. Jan got out of the inning, avoiding a further catastrophe, when Christian flew out to the mound for the second out of the inning.

Guacamol-yay would spoil the perfect game and the shutout in the bottom of the fifth. Jan led off the inning with a dribbling single down the left field line. Two batters later, Jude hit a one out double, scoring Jan, making the score 11-1. Christian then got Beau to fly out to right, ending the inning with Guacamol-yay down ten runs.

Cheap Goats added one more insurance run in the top of the sixth. Dinger led off the inning with a double, and two batters later, Brett hit a one-out triple, scoring Dinger to put Cheap Goats in front 12-1. Jan then got Jordan to fly out to the mound to end the inning.

Guacamol-yay would need a miracle in the bottom of the sixth, and it didn’t happen. Christian fanned Jan for the first out of the inning. After giving up a one-out double to Josh K, he got Jude to fly out to the mound, ending the inning and the game, as Cheap Goats won 12-1.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 3-0 on the season, and the loss dropped Guacamol-yay to 1-3.

Brett of Cheap Goats Voted Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week for Week 1

Brett went 13-for-14 across his first two career games, earning Wiffler of the Week for week 1 of the 2020 season.

After turning in what may have been the most impressive debut week in EWL history, as well as one of the best weeks, period, in league history, Brett of Cheap Goats was voted the Wiffler of the Week for week 1 of the 2020 EWL season.

Brett led Cheap Goats to two victories, with his squad finishing week 1 in first place.

In his first career game, a win over Guacamol-yay, Brett went 4-for-4 with a single, two doubles, a home run, an RBI, and two runs scored.

In the second game, his performance was historic. He was on the doorstep of multiple single-game EWL records, and tied the single-game record for doubles, with five, which he hit in five consecutive at-bats. Overall, he went 9-for-10, hitting for the cycle with a single, five doubles, a triple, two home runs, eight RBI and seven runs scored, as Cheap Goats blew out Shady Characters 22-1.

This is Brett’s first time winning Wiffler of the Week.

Cheap Goats Crush Shady Characters 22-1

Brett went 9-for-10, tying the EWL single-game record for doubles with five, and hitting for the cycle, in his second career game

In a historically dominant offensive performance, Cheap Goats pummeled Shady Characters 22-2, tying and nearly breaking several offensive single-game records. Brett and Joey led Cheap Goats with nine hits each, Christian contributed seven hits, and Dinger pitched a complete game win, allowing only one run on seven hits.

Tom K started on the mound for Shady Characters, and he fell behind early. Joey led off the game with a double, and the next batter, Brett, hit a two-run homer to right center, giving Cheap Goats an immediate 2-0 lead. Christian followed with a single. Tom K struck out Dinger for the first out of the inning, and when the next batter, Joey, singled, Cheap Goats were caught with runners in between bases for the second out of the inning.

Dinger retired Shady Characters’ first batter Dylan, and after allowing a one-out single to Tom K, Lucas grounded out to center to end the inning.

Tom K retired Cheap Goats in order in the top of second, the last inning that Shady Characters would not allow a run.

Shady Characters threatened in the bottom of the second. Brad led off with a single, and Sam followed with a single, putting two runners on with no outs. The next batter, Ryan, also singled, but Shady Characters made a series of baserunning errors, leading to a double play that ended the inning, stranding all runners without scoring a run.

Cheap Goats would add to their lead in the top of the third. Tom K retired Dinger for the first out of the inning, before allowing a triple to Joey. Brett followed with an RBI triple, scoring Joey to make the score 3-0. Christian then tripled, the third consecutive triple for Cheap Goats. The three-bagger scored Brett, extending the Cheap Goats lead to 4-0. Tom K then retired Dinger to end the inning, with Shady Characters trailing by four.

Shady Characters turned to the bullpen in the top of the fourth, sending Lucas to the mound, and the game got out of hand. Joey led off the inning with a double, and Brett followed with a two-run shot, making the score 6-0. Christian then singled, and Dinger followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Joey flew out to the mound for the first out of the inning, but Brett followed with a two-run double, clearing the bases to put Cheat Goats ahead 8-0. Christian then singled, scoring Brett, and the score was 9-0. Dinger followed with a double, putting runners on second and third with one out. Joey cleared the bags with a three-run blast to left, and Cheap Goats led 12-0. Brett followed with a double and moved to third when Christian singled for the third time in the inning. Lucas finally escaped the inning, getting Dinger to fly out to the mound. Cheap Goats had scored eight runs in the inning, and had pulled out to a twelve run lead.

Shady Characters turned to Sam on the mound, and Joey led off the top of the fifth with a solo homer, putting Cheap Goats ahead 13-0. Brett followed with a double, but Cheap Goats couldn’t put together consecutive monster innings. Lucas struck out Christian, and then retired Dinger to strand Brett at second, ending the inning.

Shady Characters finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Sam led off the inning with a solo homer to right-center. Dinger retired Ryan, and after allowing a one-out single to Dylan, got Tom K to fly out to the mound, ending the inning with the score 13-1.

The game went from a blowout to a historically one-sided game in the top of the sixth. Joey led off the inning with a double, and Brett drove him in with an RBI double, making the score 14-1. Christian then singled, putting runners on the corners with no outs. Dinger singled, scoring Brett from third, and the score was 15-1. Joey followed with a three run homer, his second three-run shot of the game, and Cheap Goats led 18-1. Brett followed with a double, for the fifth consecutive at-bat, which tied the EWL single-game record for doubles. Sam finally recorded the first out of the inning, getting Christian to groundout to right, but Dinger followed with an RBI single, scoring Brett to make the score 19-1. Joey then followed with a two-run homer, his second of the inning and fourth of the game, and the score was 21-1. Brett then singled, and Christian drove him in with an RBI triple, his second triple of the game. Sam and Shady Characters finally got out of the inning when Dinger flew out the left. Cheap Goats had scored 9 runs in the inning and led 22-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Shady Characters couldn’t put together a legendary rally, or any rally, in the bottom of the sixth. Lucas struck out for the first out of the inning, and after Brad his a one-out single, Dinger ended the game by getting Sam to fly out to the mound.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 2-0 on the season, and Shady Characters dropped to 0-2.

Brett Shines in First Career EWL Game, Going 4-for-4 to Carry Cheap Goats to 6-5 Win Over Guacamol-yay

In his EWL debut, Brett went 4-for-4 for Cheap Goats, and his solo homer in the bottom of the fifth was the decisive run

In his first game on the Wiffle Diamond, Brett went a perfect 4-for-4 with a single, two doubles, and a solo homer, that turned out to be the winning run in Cheap Goats’ 6-5 season opening win over Guacamol-yay. Christian pitched the complete game win for Cheap Goats, scattering five runs in six innings.

Guacamol-yay took advantage of early questionable fielding by Cheap Goats, pulling ahead in the top of the first. Josh K singled with one out, and he advanced to third when Jude followed with a ground rule double. With one out and two runners in scoring position, Guacamol-yay’s rookie, Sean, tripled, clearing the bases to make the score 2-0. Christian then retired Jan to end the inning.

Cheap Goats bounced back in the bottom of the first. Barilar led off the inning with a single, but pulled up lame with an upper leg injury. Two batters later, Christian hit a one-out single to put runners on the corners. Dinger followed with an RBI single, clearing the bases of the Barilars, tying the score at 2-2. Brett singled in his first career at-bat, but was stranded at first when the hobbled Barilar flew out for the second out of the inning. He would leave the game to ice his leg with a Coors light.

Jan tripled to start the top of the third, and two batters later, Jude singled. Jan couldn’t score on the play, and Guacamol-yay had runners on the corners with one out. Christian escaped the jam, getting Sean to fly out to center, ending the inning.

Josh K then hit a ground rule double, and two batters later, Sean hit a one-out RBI single to score Josh K from second, putting Guacamol-yay ahead 4-2. Jan then singled, putting two runners on with one out, but Guacamol-yay couldn’t extend the rally. Christian retired Josh K for the second out of the inning, and Cheap Goats trailed by two runs.

Dinger singled, and he moved from first to third when Brett followed with a double. With one out and two on, Joey hit a three-run blast to left, putting Cheap Goats ahead 5-4. Josh K retired Christian to end the inning, but had surrendered the lead heading into the fifth.

Christian retired the site in order in the top of the fifth, sending Jude and Sean down consecutively.

Christian retired Sean for the second out of the inning, stranding the runner and giving Cheap Goats the 6-5 win.
