Cheap Goats Pull Away Late with Offensive Onslaught in 15-9 Win Over Guacamol-yay

Jordan went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, and three RBI, including the game-winning RBI

After trailing 6-0 to Guacamol-yay, Cheap Goats erupted for ten runs in the third inning and fifteen runs over the final three innings, winning an offensive shootout 15-9. Every Cheap Goats player contributed at least three hits, as Brett homered three times, Joey had five extra-base hits, Dinger had four hits, and Jordan and Christian each homered. Christian pitched the complete game win, and Cheap Goats collected their fourth consecutive victory.

Jan led off the top of the first inning with a double, and Josh K drove him in with an RBI double, giving Guacamol-yay an early 1-0 lead. Christian got the next batter, Sean, to ground out to Brett, and Josh K was caught trying to score on the play, ending the inning.

Josh K started on the mound for Guacamol-yay, and he escaped trouble early. Joey tripled with one out in the bottom of the first, but Josh K stranded him, getting Jordan to fly out to left to end the inning.

Guacamol-yay extended their lead in the top of the second. Jude led off with a single, and two batters later, Eli hit an RBI triple, making the score 2-0. Jan then singled, scoring Eli, and the score was 3-0. Josh K followed with a two-run shot to left, putting Guacamol-yay ahead 5-0. Sean followed with a single, but Christian got out of the inning, retiring Jude for the second out.

Dinger singled with one out in the bottom of the second, but Josh K once again avoided damage, retiring Brett to strand the runner, ending the inning.

Ryan singled to start the top of the third, and he moved from first to third when Eli followed with a double. With no outs and two runners in scoring position, Jan singled, scoring Ryan to give Guacamol-yay a 6-0 lead. The next batter, Josh K, flew out to Christian, and he doubled up Jan, ending the inning.

Down six, Cheap Goats put together a huge inning in the bottom of the third, pulling ahead for the first time in the game. Joey led off the inning with a solo homer, putting Cheap Goats on the board at 6-1. Jordan doubled, and he moved to third when Christian followed with a single. Two batters later, Brett cleared the bases with a three-run homer, and Cheap Goats had cut the score to 6-4. Joey followed with a double, and Jordan tied the game with a two-run homer, making the score 6-6. Christian followed with an inside-the-park homer, capitalizing on Guacamol-yay errors to give Cheap Goats a 7-6 lead. Dinger then singled, and Brett launched his second homer of the inning, a two-run shot that made the score 9-6. Joey doubled for the second time in the inning, and Jordan drove him in with an RBI double that extended the Cheap Goats lead to 10-6. Josh K finally got out of the inning, striking out Christian for the second out.

Sean started the top of the fourth with a double, and Jude drove him in with an RBI double that cut the Guacamol-yay deficit to 10-7. Two batters later, Eli hit a one-out RBI single to score Jude, and the score was 10-8. Christian then got Jan to fly out to center, ending the inning.

Guacamol-yay removed Josh K from the mound and brought Ryan in from the bullpen in the bottom of the fourth. The first batter he faced, Dinger, doubled, and Brett followed with his third home run in as many at-bats, a two-run bomb that put Cheap Goats ahead 12-8. Ryan retired the next two batters, Joey and Jordan, ending the inning, and Guacamol-yay trailed by four runs.

Christian retired Josh K to start the top of the fifth, but Sean followed with a solo homer, and Guacamol-yay were behind 12-9. They couldn’t rally, however, as Christian retired Jude for the second out, ending the inning.

Cheap Goats added three more insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth. Christian singled, and Dinger followed with a single to put two on with no outs. Brett then singled, loading the bases for Joey. Joey hit an RBI double to deep left, scoring Christian and Dinger, making the score 14-9. Jordan followed with a pop fly to deep right. Brett tagged and scored on the play, and the sacrifice made the score 15-9. Ryan retired Christian for the second out of the inning, and Cheap Goats led by six heading into the sixth inning.

Christian remained on the mound to close things out, and he made quick work of Guacamol-yay in the sixth. He struck out Ryan, and then he retired Eli to end the inning and the game, as Cheap Goats won 15-9.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 9-6 on the season, and the loss dropped Guacamol-yay to 7-9.

Turbo Hits for Cycle, Jack Shack Score Fifteen Unanswered Runs in 15-7 Win Over Shady Characters

Turbo went 5-for-6 with a single, double, triple, two home runs, and four RBI, hitting for the cycle for the second time in his career and leading Jack Shack to a win over Shady Characters

Shady Characters took a 6-0 lead two innings into their week 8 contest with Jack Shack, and then the Jack Shack offense exploded. Turbo hit for the cycle and Dustin and Brian each had four extra-base hits as Jack Shack rallied to score fifteen consecutive runs, taking a 15-6 lead before eventually winning 15-7. Lucas went a perfect 5-for-5 and Dylan went 5-for-6 in a losing effort as Shady Characters were plagued by stranded runners time and again, while Jack Shack capitalized on nearly every opportunity to drive runners in.

Brian took the mound for Jack Shack, and he fell behind early. Dylan led off the game with a single, and Mike followed with a single, putting two on with no outs. Sam cleared the bases with a three-run blast, and Shady Characters led 3-0. Two batters later, Lucas hit a one out double, and he moved to third when Dylan followed with a double. Shady Characters had two runners in scoring position and a chance to take a big lead, but Brian got Mike to ground out to right, stranding both runners and ending the inning.

Sam got the start for Shady Characters, and he rolled in the bottom of the second. He retired Brian and Dustin in order, and his offense would extend the lead in the next inning.

Brian retired Sam to start the top of second, but Tom K, making his return to the diamond, hit a solo homer to right, making the score 4-0. Lucas then doubled, and Dylan drove him in with a two-run shot to right, putting Shady Characters ahead 6-0. Brian retired Mike for the second out of the inning, and Jack Shack were in a big hole.

Jack Shack started their comeback in the bottom of the second. Turbo led off with a triple, and Doc drove him in with an RBI double that put Jack Shack on the board at 6-1. Brian followed with a single, scoring Doc, and the score was 6-2. Sam got Dustin to ground out to left for the first out of the inning, but Brian scored on the play, and the lead was cut to 6-3. Turbo followed with a solo homer, and Jack Shack had narrowed the deficit to 6-4. Sam finally escaped the inning, getting Doc to fly out for the second out.

Brian found a groove in the top of the third and stayed on it for the remainder of the game. He retired Sam to start the inning, but allowed back-to-back singles to Tom K and Lucas, putting runners on first and second with one out. Brian got out of the jam, however, retiring Dylan to strand both runners, and the score remained 6-4.

Jack Shack pulled ahead with a big inning in the bottom of the third. Shady Characters turned to the bullpen, bringing Tom K to the mound, and Jack Shack immediately hit him hard. Brian led off the inning with a solo homer, cutting the score to 6-5. Dustin doubled, and Turbo drove him in with an RBI single that tied the game at 6-6. Two batters later, Brian hit an RBI double, scoring Turbo, and Jack Shack had their first lead of the game. Dustin then doubled, driving in Brian and extending the lead to 8-6. Turbo followed with a two-run shot, his second homer of the game, and Jack Shack led 10-6. Tom K finally got out of the inning when Doc flew out to the mound for the second out. Jack Shack had scored six in the inning, taking a four run lead.

Mike singled to start the top of the fourth, but Shady Characters couldn’t advance him. Brian retired Sam and Tom K, stranding the runner and ending the inning.

Jack Shack continued their onslaught in the bottom of the fourth. Brian doubled, and Dustin drove him in with an RBI double that made the score 11-6. Two batters later, Doc hit a one-out double, scoring Dustin to put Jack Shack ahead 12-6. Brian followed with a two-run blast, and the score was 14-6. The next batter, Dustin, hit a solo homer, and the back-to-back homers gave Jack Shack a 15-6 lead. Turbo followed with a double, but the rally would end there, as Tom K retired Doc to end the inning. After trailing 6-0, Jack Shack had scored fifteen unanswered runs over three innings to take a nine-run lead.

Lucas singled to lead off the top of the fifth, and Dylan followed with a single, putting two on with no outs. But once again, Brian locked Shady Characters down. He retired Mike and Sam in order, stranding two more Shady Characters’ runners, and the score remained 15-6.

Tom K finally had an easy inning in the bottom of the fifth, as he sent Brian and Dustin down in order, and Shady Characters would need nine runs to extend the game.

Lucas followed with a double, and Dylan drove him in with an RBI single that cut the deficit to 15-7. The rally would end there, however, as Brian got Mike to ground out to center, stranding Dylan at third and ending the game, giving Jack Shack the 15-7 win.

The win moved Jack Shack to 9-7 on the season, and the loss dropped Shady Characters to 6-9.

Dustin limited Guacamol-yay to three runs on five hits, and Brian went 3-for-5 with a double and two homers, as they led Jack Shack to a comeback victory over Guacamol-yay

Dustin allowed only three runs on five hits, and Brian went 3-for-5 with a double and two home runs, including the game-winning walk-off homer, as Jack Shack beat Guacamol-yay 4-3. Jack Shack trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth when Turbo and Brian hit back-to-back homers to win the game. Sean continued to swing a hot bat for Guacamol-yay, contributing three of his team’s five hits in the loss.

Guacamol-yay took an early lead in the top of the first inning. Dustin retired Jan to start the game, but the next batter, Josh K, hit a solo homer to left, making the score 1-0. Sean followed with a single, but Dustin stranded him at first, retiring Eli to end the inning.

Jack Shack evened things up in the bottom of the first. With one out, Brian hit a solo shot, tying the game at 1-1. Josh K, Guacamol-yay’s starter, retired Dustin for the second out, ending the inning with the game split at one.

Guacamol-yay pulled back ahead in the top of the third. With one out, Sean hit a solo shot to center, and Guacamol-yay led 2-1. Eli followed with a single, but Dustin avoided further damage, retiring Ryan to strand the runner, ending the inning.

Dave singled with one out in the bottom of the third, but Jack Shack couldn’t advance him. Josh K retired Turbo to end the inning, and Guacamol-yay led by a run.

Dustin got back on track in the top of the fourth, retiring Jan and Josh K in order.

Jack Shack pulled even once again in the bottom of the fourth. Brian led off with a double, and two batters later, Dave hit an RBI single to score him, knotting the game at 2-2. Josh K retired Turbo to strand Dave at first, ending the inning.

Guacamol-yay immediately reclaimed the lead in the top of the fifth. Sean led off the inning with a double, and when Eli grounded out for the first out of the inning, Sean scored on the play, putting Guacamol-yay ahead 3-2. Dustin then retired Ryan to end the inning, and Jack Shack trailed by a run.

Guacamol-yay turned to their bullpen in the bottom of the fifth, bringing Jan in to relieve Josh K. Dustin doubled with one out, but Jack Shack couldn’t plate the run. Jan retired Dave to strand Dustin at second, ending the inning.

Dustin cruised through the top of the sixth, sending Jan and Josh K down in order, and Jack Shack needed a run to extend the game.

The first batter Jan faced in the bottom of the sixth, Turbo, hit a solo homer, tying the game at 3-3. Jack Shack had immediately extended the game, and they would just as quickly end it. The next batter, Brian, also homered, and the back-to-back jacks gave Jack Shack the 4-3 walk-off win.

Dustin of Jack Shack Voted Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week for Week 7

Dustin was named Wiffler of the Week for the third time in his career after hitting four home runs in week 7

After a powerful week at the plate that included four home runs and eight RBI, Dustin of Jack Shack was voted Wiffler of the Week for week 7 of the 2020 EWL season.

Dustin was also effective in the field as Jack Shack finished week 7 tied for first place in the season standings.

Dustin went 2-for-5 against Guacamol-yay with two home runs, two runs scored, and five RBI.

Against Cheap Goats, he went 5-for-6 with two singles, a triple, two home runs, four runs scored, and three RBI.

In total, Dustin went 7-for-11, accumulating two singles, a triple, four homers, six runs scored, and eight RBI.

This is Dustin’s third time winning PBR Wiffler of the Week. He won during week 1 of the 2019 playoffs en route to winning the title with Jack Shack, and he also won in week 8 of 2017 with the Ham Slams.

Brett Leads Cheap Goats to Unusual 10-9 Victory over Jack Shack

Brett led Cheap Goats going a perfect 5-for-5 with four doubles and a triple, and he continues to set the pace for the 2020 EWL batting title

Cheap Goats held on to beat Jack Shack 10-9 in a game that was started and completed in different weeks and which also had a score keeping anomaly that led to a half-inning being replayed. On 8/18, Jack Shack had seemingly come from behind to beat Cheap Goats 9-8 with a walk-off hit, but after further analysis of the score book, Cheap Goats were not credited with a run earlier in the game. After correcting other complications with the score book, the league decided to replay the bottom of the sixth inning, which ended with Cheap Goats earning a 10-9 victory.

Brian started for Jack Shack, and Cheap Goats jumped on him early. Joey led off the game with a ground rule double, and Brett followed with an RBI triple, making the score 1-0. Jordan followed with a two-run homer, and Cheap Goats led 3-0 before recording an out. Brian settled down and retired Christian and Dinger to end the inning with Jack Shack down three.

Dinger took the mound for Cheap Goats and he was effective out of the gate. He retired Turbo and Brian consecutively, and the score remained 3-0.

Cheap Goats added to their lead in the top of the second. Joey led off the inning with a triple, and Brett drove him in with an RBI double, extending the score to 4-0. Jordan hit a two-run homer for the second straight inning, and Cheap Goats were ahead 6-0. Christian followed with a single, but Brian escaped the inning, retiring Dinger and Joey to strand the runner, and Jack Shack were down six runs.

Jack Shack got on the board in the bottom of the second. Dinger struck out Dustin for the first out of the inning, but Dave, filling in for Jack Shack, hit a solo homer which made the score 6-1. Turbo followed with a triple, but Jack Shack couldn’t extend the rally. Dinger retired Brian to end the inning, stranding Turbo at third.

Christian grounded out for the first out of the inning, but Brett scored on the play, putting Cheap Goats ahead 7-1. Dinger then singled, scoring Jordan, and the Cheap Goats lead was 8-1. Brian retired Joey to end the inning, and Jack Shack trailed by seven.

The Jack Shack offense came to life in the bottom of the fourth. Dustin led off with a single and moved to third when Dave followed with a double. With no outs and two runners in scoring position, Turbo crushed a three-run homer, narrowing the deficit to 9-5. Brian then doubled, and Dustin drove him in with an RBI single that cut the score to 9-6. Jack Shack had scored four runs without recording an out, but the rally ended there. Dinger retired Dave and Turbo to end the inning, and Cheap Goats led by three.

Brett hit a one-out double in the top of the fifth, and Jordan followed with an RBI ground rule double, scoring Brett to make the score 10-6. Brian then retired Christian to end the inning.

With one out in the bottom of the fifth, Dustin crushed a solo home run to left, and Jack Shack trailed 10-7. Dinger then retired Dave to end the inning.

Brian rolled through the top of the sixth, sending Dinger and Joey down consecutively.

During the initial playing of the game, the score was thought to be 8-7 with Cheap Goats leading by a run heading into the bottom of the sixth. As the bottom of the sixth played on, Jack Shack manufactured two runs, leading to what was a walk-off win at the time. Upon further inspection, the run totals were incorrect, and after a league-wide panel, it was decided that the bottom of the sixth would be replayed.

On 8/25, the replay began. At the official reset, Cheap Goats led Jack Shack 10-7 with no outs in the bottom of the sixth. Dinger remained on the mound to close things out for Cheap Goats. The first batter he faced, Turbo, grounded out to center, and Cheap Goats were one out away from victory. But Jack Shack showed heart and rallied. The next batter, Brian, launched a solo homer, cutting the score to 10-8. Dustin followed with a blast, and the back-to-back homers made the score 10-9. Doc, who had rejoined the team and replaced Dave in the lineup, followed with a single. Jack Shack had one out and the tying run on base, with Turbo coming to the plate. Dinger remained in the game, and he retired Turbo to strand the runner at first, ending the inning and the game and giving Cheap Goats the 10-9 victory.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 8-6 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 7-7.
