Christian and Dinger Throw Nine-Inning Shutout and Jordan’s Walk-Off Single Seals 1-0 Cheap Goats Win Over Jack Shack in Season Finale

Christian and Dinger combined to throw nine shutout innings, allowing only six hits and only one baserunner beyond second base, as Cheap Goats walked off with a 1-0 over win over Jack Shack when Jordan hit an RBI single to score Miller in the bottom of the ninth. Both team’s defenses played at an elite level, limiting hits and stranding runners, in one of the best games of the 2021 season. The teams will meet again in the first round of the playoffs in a rematch of the 2020 Wiffle Series.

Christian started for Cheap Goats, and he got out of trouble early. After retiring Adam for the first out of the inning, he allowed a double to Josh D and a single to Turbo, putting runners on the corners. Jack Shack couldn’t capitalize, however, as Christian retired Brian to strand both runners, ending the inning.

Brian took the mound for Jack Shack, and he also stranded a runner early. Brett led off the bottom of the first with a double, but Brian retired Joey and Miller to strand him, ending the inning.

Josh D singled with one out in the top of the second, but Christian stranded him, retiring Turbo to end the inning.

Brian rolled through the bottom of the second, retiring Jordan and Christian.

Brian led off the top of the third with a double, but Christian and Cheap Goats stranded another runner, as Christian retired Adam and Josh D to end the inning.

Brett doubled with one out in the bottom of the third, but Brian escaped unscathed, retiring Joey to strand the runner and the game remained scoreless after three innings.

Cheap Goats turned to the bullpen in the top of the fourth, bringing Dinger to the mound. The first batter he faced, Turbo, hit a single. But Dinger buckled down, retiring Brian and Adam to strand him at first, ending the inning.

Brian retired the side in order in the bottom of the fourth, sending Miller and Jordan down consecutively.

Turbo doubled with one out in the top of the fifth, but Dinger stranded him, retiring Brian to get out of the inning.

Adam took the mound in the bottom of the fifth, as Brian had reached his innings limit for the week. He picked up where Brian left off, retiring Christian and Dinger in order.

Dinger matched Adam in the top of the sixth, retiring Adam and Josh D in order, and Cheap Goats had shutout Jack Shack through six innings.

Cheap Goats couldn’t plate a run for the win in the bottom of the sixth, as Adam retired Brett and Joey in order.

Dinger continued to roll in the top of the seventh, retiring Turbo and Brian in order, and the game remained scoreless.

Jack Shack continued to confuse the Cheap Goats offense, as Adam retired Miller and Jordan in order in the bottom of the seventh, and the game would continue into the eighth inning.

Dinger retired Adam and Josh D in order in the top of the eight, and Cheap Goats had now pitched eight consecutive shutout innings.

Cheap Goats threatened significantly in the bottom of the eighth, and a very unlikely turn of events allowed Adam and Jack Shack to escape, and for the game to continue. Christian led off the inning with a double, putting the winning run on second. Dinger followed with a single, and Christian moved to third, putting runners on the corners with no outs. Jack Shack intentionally walked Brett, loading the bases for Joey with no outs. Joey hit a shallow fly ball to right, which Turbo caught for an out. Christian had wandered off third base in an attempt to coax a wild throw, but was caught out, ending the inning. Adam had escaped a bases-loaded, no-outs jam to push the game to the ninth inning.

Dinger powered through the ninth inning, retiring Turbo and Brian in order, eighth and ninth consecutive batters he had retired.

Jack Shack’s luck ran out in the bottom of the ninth. Miller led off with a triple, and Cheap Goats once again had the winning run in scoring position with no outs. This time Jordan hit a single to right-center, scoring Miller, and giving Cheap Goats a 1-0 win in nine innings.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 11-9 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 10-10 on the season. The win clinched the #2 seed in the playoffs for Cheap Goats, and the loss clinched the #3 seed for Jack Shack.

Jack Shack Destroy Indifferent Guacamol-yay in 12-0 One-Hitter

Guacamol-yay threw in the towel on the 2021 regular season as Brian and Adam combined to throw a one-hit shutout, and all four Jack Shack players had at least three hits apiece in a 12-0 beatdown. Josh D and Brian each had two doubls and two homers, Turbo had two doubles and a triple, and Adam had four hits including a double and a homer in the easy Jack Shack victory.

Brian started on the mound for Jack Shack, and he retired Ryan and Kyle in order in the top of the first.

Josh K started for Guacmol-yay and he was hit hard early. Adam led off the game with an inside-the-park homer fueled by a series of Guacamol-yay throwing errors. Two batters later, Turbo hit a one-out double, but he was caught trying to extend the hit into a triple, ending the inning.

Brian rolled through the top of the second, sending Josh K and Jude down consecutively.

Jack Shack opened up a big lead in the bottom of the second. Brian doubled, and Adam drove him in with an RBI single that made the score 2-0. Josh D followed with a two-run bomb to right, putting Jack Shack in front 4-0. Two batters later, Brian hit a one-out solo homer, giving Jack Shack a 5-0 lead. Josh K finally escaped the inning, getting Adam to fly out for the second out.

Brian once again retired the side in order in the top of the third.

Guacamol-yay turned to their bullpen in the bottom of the third, bringing Jan to the mound. He retired Josh D and Turbo in order, and the score remained 5-0.

Guacamol-yay registered their first hit of the game when Kyle led off the top of the fourth with a single. Unfortunately for them, it would be their only hit in the game, and Brian retired Josh K and Jude to strand Kyle at first, ending the inning.

Jack Shack blew the game open in the bottom of the fourth. Brian led off the inning with a solo homer, extending the Jack Shack lead to 6-0. Adam singled, and when the next batter, Josh D, doubled, Adam was caught out trying to score on the play, for the first out of the inning. Turbo followed with a one-out double, scoring Josh D, and Jack Shack led 7-0. Brian then doubled, scoring Turbo, and the lead was 8-0. Adam doubled, putting runners on second and third, and Josh D cleared the bases with his second double of the inning, making the score 10-0. Turbo then tripled, scoring Josh D, and Jack Shack had scored six runs to take an 11-0 lead. Jan finally got out of the inning by retiring Brian for the second out, and Guacamol-yay trailed by eleven.

Jack Shack brought Adam to the mound from the bullpen in the top of the fifth. He retired Jan and Ryan in order.

Jack Shack added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth when Josh D hit a one-out solo homer, making the score 12-0. Jan then retired Turbo to end the inning.

Guacamol-yay went quietly in the top of the sixth, as Adam closed things out by retiring Kyle and Josh K in order, giving Jack Shack a 12-0 victory.

Miller Leads Cheap Goats to 6-1 Win in Series Opener Against Jack Shack

Miller pitched a complete game win, allowing only a single run to Jack Shack, and also went 2-for-2 at the plate as Cheap Goats took game one in the best-of-five first round series 6-1. Cheap Goats scored five unanswered runs in the final two innings to pull away from Jack Shack, as Miller, Joey and Jordan each had two doubles.

Miller allowed a one-out single to Josh D in the top of the first, but stranded him, retiring Turbo for the second out of the inning.

Brian started for Jack Shack, and he fell behind early. After allowing a one-out double to Joey, Miller hit an RBI double to score him, giving Cheap Goats an early 1-0 lead. Brian then retired Jordan to strand Miller at second, ending the inning.

Jack Shack bounced back in the top of the second. Adam hit a one-out triple, and Josh D drove him in with an RBI double, tying the game at 1-1. Miller then retired Turbo to strand Josh D at second, ending the inning.

Brian cruised in the bottom of the second, retiring Christian and Dinger in order.

Miller matched him in the top of the third, sending Brian and Adam down consecutively.

Brian continued to roll in the bottom of the third, retiring Brett and Joey, and the score remained tied at 1-1.

Turbo hit a one-out single in the top of the fourth, but Miller retired Brian to end the inning, stranding Turbo at first.

Cheap Goats took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Miller doubled and moved to third when Jordan followed with a double. With no outs and two runners in scoring position, Brian got Christian to ground out to right. Miller scored on the play, and Cheap Goats led 2-1. Brian then retired Dinger to strand Jordan at third, ending the inning.

Adam led off the top of the fifth with a single, and when Josh D followed with a single, Adam was thrown out trying to advance from first to third. Miller then retired Turbo for the second out of the inning, stranding Josh D at first.

Cheap Goats took a commanding lead in the bottom of the fifth. Joey doubled with one out, and Jack Shack intentionally walked the next batter, Miller. Jordan followed with a double which scored Joey from second, making the score 3-1. Christian then singled, scoring Miller, and Cheap Goats led 4-1. Dinger followed with an RBI single, scoring Jordan, and the score was 5-1. Brett made it six consecutive hits for Cheap Goats, and his RBI single scored Christian to extend the Cheap Goats lead to 6-1. Brian finally escaped the inning, retiring Joey to strand two runners.

With a five-run lead, Cheap Goats brought Christian to the mound to close things out. He retired Brian, the first batter he faced. He then allowed consecutive singles to Adam and Josh D, putting two runners on with one out. Jack Shack were threatening, but Christian ended the rally, retiring Turbo to strand both runners, giving Cheap Goats the 6-1 victory.

The win gave Cheap Goats a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five first round series.

Brett, Joey, and Jordan Lead Cheap Goats Past Shady Characters 6-3

Brett, Joey, and Jordan went a combined 10-for-10 with seven extra-base hits as Cheap Goats pulled away from Shady Characters late, scoring five unanswered runs to win 6-3. Miller pitched the complete game win for Cheap Goats, allowing three runs on five hits.

Tom K made his record twentieth start of the season for Shady Characters, and he was both hit early and escaped with less damage than he should have. Brett led off the game with a double, but was caught out trying to extend the hit to a triple, for the first out of the inning. Joey then doubled, and Miller followed with an RBI double that put Cheap Goats ahead 1-0. However, Miller was also caught out on the play, trying to extend the hit to a triple, ending the inning as Tom K allowed only one run thanks to two outfield assists.

Miller started for Cheap Goats, and he fell behind in the bottom of the first. Dylan led off with a double, and Mike followed with a two-run homer that gave Shady Characters a 2-1 lead. Miller then retired Tom K and Lucas to end the inning.

Jordan led off the top of the second with a double, but Tom K stranded him, retiring Christian and Dinger to end the inning.

Shady Character extended their lead in the bottom of the second. Dylan singled and moved from first to third when Mike followed with a double. With no outs and two runners in scoring position, Tom K grounded out to right for the first out of the inning, but Dylan scored on the play, putting Shady Characters in front 3-1. Miller then retired Lucas to strand Mike at third, ending the inning, and Shady Characters led by two.

Brett led off the top of the third with a double, and he moved from second to third when Joey followed with a sacrifice fly. Tom K stranded Brett at third, however, retiring Miller to end the inning.

Miller retired the site in order in the bottom of the third, sending Dylan and Mike down consecutively.

Jordan singled to lead off the top of the fourth, and Shady Characters made a call to the bullpen, bringing Dylan to the mound to face Christian. He got Christian to fly out to the mound and then retired Dinger to strand Jordan at first, ending the inning.

Miller retired Tom K and Lucas consecutively in the bottom of the fourth, and the score remained 3-1.

Brett led off the top of the fifth with a solo bomb to right-center, narrowing the deficit to 3-2. Shady Characters made another pitching change, as Lucas relieved Dylan on the mound. The first batter Lucas faced, Joey, hit a solo homer, and the back-to-back Cheap Goats homers tied the game at 3-3. Two batters later, Jordan tripled, and Christian drove him in with an RBI single, putting Cheap Goats ahead 4-3. Lucas then retired Dinger to strand Christian at first, ending the inning, but Cheap Goats had scored three runs to take the lead.

Miller allowed a one-out single to Mike in the bottom of the fifth, but Shady Characters couldn’t drive him in to tie the game. Tom K flew out to left, stranding Mike at first and ending the inning.

Cheap Goats added insurance runs in the top of the sixth. Shady Characters intentionally walked Brett to start the inning, and Joey followed with a single to put runners on first and second with no outs. Miller singled, which scored Brett to extend the Cheap Goats lead to 5-3. Jordan then singled, scoring Joey, and Cheap Goats led 6-3. Lucas then retired Christian and Dinger to strand Miller and Jordan on base, ending the inning, and Shady Characters trailed by three runs.

Joey went 3-for-3 with a single, a double, and a homer in the Cheap Goats win

Miller remained on the mound to close things out for Cheap Goats, and he made quick work of Shady Characters in the bottom of the sixth. He got Lucas and Dylan to each fly out to center, ending the inning and giving Cheap Goats the 6-3 victory.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 10-9 on the season, and the loss dropped Shady Characters to 13-7.

Tom K Wins Pitcher’s Duel to Break Single-Season Record for Wins in 2-1 Shady Characters Victory over Guacamol-yay

Tom K came out victorious in a week 10 pitcher’s duel against Josh K and Guacamol-yay, delivering a 2-1 win for Shady Characters and breaking Josh K (and Reilly’s) single-season record for wins. Josh K won ten games in 2020, but a year later, Tom K broke the record, notching his eleventh win of the season after allowing only a single run on four hits against Guacamol-yay. Dylan was the only Shady Characters player with multiple hits, going 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored, and an RBI in the win.

Josh K started for Guacamol-yay, and he fell behind early. After allowing a leadoff double to Dylan, two batters later, Tom K hit a one-out double, scoring Dylan to give Shady Characters a 1-0 lead. Josh K then retired Lucas to end the inning.

Tom K rolled in the top of the first, retiring Ryan and Kyle in order.

Josh K retired Dylan to start the top of the second, before striking out Mike to end the inning.

Down 2-1, Guacamol-yay couldn’t rally in the bottom of the sixth. Tom K stayed on the mound to close things out, and after allowing a one-out single to Jude, he retired Jan to strand the tying run, ending the game and giving Shady Characters a 2-1 win.

The win moved Shady Characters to 13-6 on the season, and the loss dropped Guacamol-yay to 7-12.
