Cheap Goats Score Eleven Unanswered Runs to Beat Jack Shack 11-3 for First Win of Season

All five Cheap Goats players had multiple hits as they erupted for eleven unanswered runs for their first win of the season

Jack Shack took an early 3-0 lead before Cheap Goats reeled off eleven unanswered runs, and the 2021 runners-up picked up their first win of the 2022 season. Miller, Joey, and Dinger each had three hits, and Joe, Christian, and Jordan contributed two hits a piece in Cheap Goats biggest offensive output of the season. Dinger pitched the complete game win, pitching four scoreless innings to close out the victory.

Jack Shack started the game with a bang when Adam hit a lead-off homer to right-center off Cheap Goats’ starter, Dinger. Josh followed with a triple, and he scored from third when Brian hit a sac fly to deep center to make the score 2-0. Rob then doubled, but Dinger avoided further damage, retiring Sean to strand the runner at second, ending the inning.

Brian started on the mound for Jack Shack, and he rolled in the bottom of the first, retiring Miller and Joe in order.

Jack Shack extended their lead in the top of the second. Dinger retired Rod for the first out of the inning, but Adam followed with his second homer of the game, and Jack Shack led 3-0. Dinger then retired Josh to end the inning.

Down 3-0, Cheap Goats would bounce back to tie the game in the bottom of the second. Joey led off the inning with a solo homer to left, cutting the score to 3-1. Christian singled, and two batters later, Dinger hit a two-run homer to left, tying the game at 3-3. Miller then singled, but Brian escaped the inning, retiring Joe to strand the runner at first.

Brian led off the top of the third with a double, but Jack Shack couldn’t capitalize. Dinger retired Rob and Sean to strand Brian at second, ending the inning with the score tied at 3-3.

Cheap Goats would take the lead in the bottom of the third. For the second consecutive inning, Joey led off the inning with a solo homer, giving Cheap Goats a 4-3 lead. Two batters later, Jordan hit a solo homer, extending the lead to 5-3. Dinger then tripled, and Miller drove him in with a two-run shot, putting Cheap Goats ahead 7-3. Joey then doubled, but Brian stranded him at second, retiring Joey to end the inning.

Adam tripled with one out in the top of the fourth, but Dinger continued to strand Jack Shack runners. He retired Josh for the second out, and Cheap Goats continued to lead 7-3.

Cheap Goats’ offensive explosion continued in the bottom of the fourth. Christian tripled, and Jordan drove him in with an RBI single that made the score 8-3. Dinger then doubled, putting runners on second and third. Miller cleared the bases with an RBI double, and Cheap Goats led 10-3. Joe then doubled, scoring Miller from second, and the score was 11-3. Joey followed with a single, but was caught out trying to advance the hit to a double. Brian then retired Christian to end the inning, and Cheap Goats had scored eleven consecutive runs after trailing 3-0.

Rob hit a one-out single in the top of the fifth, but for the fourth consecutive inning, Dinger stranded a Jack Shack runner, retiring Sean to end the inning.

For the first time since the first inning, Brian retired Cheap Goats in order in the bottom of the fifth, sending Jordan and Dinger down consecutively.

Dinger remained on the mound to close things out in the top of the sixth, and he made quick work of Jack Shack. He retired Rod and Adam in order, ending the inning and the game, as Cheap Goats won 11-3.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 1-2 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 1-2.

Shady Characters Outlast Guac Boys 3-2 in Extra Innings to Remain Undefeated

Mike’s walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh was the difference, as Shady Characters beat the Guac Boys 3-2 to move to 3-0 on the season, holding onto sole possession of first place. Tom hit two doubles and pitched the complete game win, outlasting Jude in the season’s best pitcher’s duel to date. Dylan also had two extra-base hits and scored the game-winning run for the defending champions.

It wouldn’t take long for Shady Characters to take an early lead. Jude retired Dylan to start the bottom of the first, but Mike followed with a solo homer, putting Shady Characters ahead 1-0. Jude then retired Tom to end the inning.

The Guac Boys would even things up in the top of the second, when Kyle led off the inning with a solo homer to right-center. Tom retired Jan and Bohn to end the inning, and the game was tied at 1-1.

Shady Characters immediately reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the second when Jason led off the inning with a solo homer, putting them ahead 2-1. Two batters later Nate hit a one-out single, but Jude stranded him at first, retiring Dylan to end the inning.

The Guac Boys continued to respond in the top of the third, evening the score again. Austin led off with a single, and two batters later, Jude hit an RBI double to score him. Tom retired Kyle to end the inning, and the score was tied 2-2.

Lucas singled to lead off the bottom of the fourth, and two batters later, Dylan hit a one-out double. Lucas had a chance to score and give Shady Characters the lead, but he was caught in between third and home to end the inning, and the game remained tied.

Brum led off the top of the fifth with a single, but he was doubled up when Jude flew out for the first out of the inning, ending the inning with the score 2-2.

Tom doubled with one out in the bottom of the fifth, but Jude stranded him, retiring Jason to end the inning.

Tom cruised through the top of the sixth, retiring Kyle and Jan consecutively.

Jude sent the game to extra innings when he retired Lucas and Nate in order in the bottom of the sixth.

Tom remained on the mound for Shady Characters in the top of the seventh. He retired Bohn, but then allowed a one-out double to Austin. The Guac Boys had the go-ahead run in scoring position, but Tom buckled down, retiring Brum to strand the runner at second, ending the inning.

Jude also remained on the mound for the Guac Boys, and after pitching four consecutive scoreless innings, he got into trouble in the bottom of the seventh. Dylan led off the inning with a triple, putting the winning run on third with no outs. It didn’t take long for Shady Characters to put the game away, as Mike hit an RBI single to score Dylan, giving Shady Characters a 3-2 win.

The win moved Shady Characters to 3-0 on the season, and the Guac Boys dropped to 1-2.
