One week after giving up six runs in the sixth inning in a shocking loss to Cheap Goats, Guac Boys fell prey to late game heroics again, as Jack Shack scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to beat Guac Boys 4-2. Jack Shack’s first batter of the game, Josh, hit a double, before Bohn retired eight consecutive hitters, allowing only a single hit through four innings. The wheels fell off in the fourth as Jon M and Ryan each hit two-run homers, and the loss ensured the Guac Boys, who finished the first half 8-2 in sole possession of first place, would not win the 2024 regular season pennant. With the win, Jack Shack clinched the #3 seed, while also clinching the #2 seed for Guac Boys and the 2024 pennant for three-time defending champions Shady Characters.
Jon M started on the mound for Jack Shack, and after allowing a leadoff double to Alec, he retired Bohn and Tone to strand the runner, ending the inning.

Guac Boys got on the board in the top of the second. Jan led off with a triple, and Form followed with an RBI single, giving Guac Boys a 1-0 lead. Jon M got Brum to ground out for the first out of the inning, and Form was doubled up on the play, ending the inning.
Bohn cruised through the bottom of the second, retiring Ryan and Jon D in order.
Alec started the top of the third with a single, and he managed to score from first when Bohn grounded out to left-center for the first out of the inning. Jon M retired Tone to end the inning, and Guac Boys led 2-0.
Bohn rolled through the bottom of the third, sending Josh and Jon M down consecutively.
Jon M matched Bohn in the top of the fourth, retiring Jan and Form in order, and the score remained 2-0.
Bohn continued to control Jack Shack’s offense in the top of the fourth, retiring Jacob and Ryan, the seventh and eight consecutive Jack Shack batters to go down.
Jon M also continued to pitch effectively, retiring Brum and Alec in the top of the fifth.
Through four innings, Jack Shack had managed one hit, one baserunner, and no runs, and Guac Boys were cruising, but the tides turned in the bottom of the fifth. Jon D led off with a double, and two batters later, Jon M hit a two-run homer, tying the game at 2-2. Jacob followed with a double, and the next hitter, Ryan, launched a two-run bomb, giving Jack Shack their first lead of the game 4-2. Bohn retired Jon D to end the inning, but after controlling the game through four innings, Guac Boys would need two runs in the top of the sixth to save their chance at the #1 seed.

Bohn led off the top of the sixth with a single, and two batters later, Jan hit a one-out double, putting two runners in scoring position, including the tying run. However, Jon M escaped, retiring Form to strand both runners, ending the inning and the game, giving Jack Shack a surprising 4-2 come-from-behind victory that sealed the playoff seeds of all four EWL teams.
The win moved Jack Shack to 9-10 on the season, and the loss dropped Guac Boys to 10-9.
