Joey reached base five times and knocked two home runs, Kevin had four extra-base hits, and Christian went deep twice, powering Cheap Goats to a 9-3 victory over Shady Characters. Dinger tossed a complete game on the mound limiting Shady Characters to five hits, and Cheap Goats continued to strengthen their playoff position in the homestretch of the 2026 regular season.
Dinger started for Cheap Goats and retired Tom and Zach in order int he top of the first.
Tom started on the mound for Shady Characters, and Cheap Goats wasted little time taking the lead. Joey opened the bottom of the first with a triple, and Kevin drove him home with an RBI double to make it 1-0 before he was thrown out attempting to stretch the hit into an inside-the-park homer. Christian followed with a solo homer, extending the lead to 2-0. Dinger doubled, but Tom escaped further damage with an outfield assist. Joey singled, but Dinger was forced out to end the frame with Cheap Goats up 2-0.
Dinger rolled through the top of the second, sending Billy and Nate down consecutively.
Cheap Goats added three more runs in the bottom of the second. Kevin led off with a solo homer to make it 3-0. Dinger later singled with one out, and Joey ripped an RBI triple to score him, extending the lead to 4-0. Kevin followed with an RBI triple of his own, scoring Joey to push the advantage to 5-0. Tom got Christian to fly out to end the inning, and Shady Characters trailed by five runs.
Shady Characters finally broke through in the top of the third. Zach doubled with one out before Billy drove him home with an RBI double, cutting the deficit to 5-1. Nate followed with another RBI double to make it 5-2, but Dinger retired Tom to end the inning, stranding Nate at second.
Cheap Goats answered immediately in the bottom of the third. With one out, Joey hit a solo homer, restoring the four-run cushion at 6-2. Kevin was retired to end the inning, and Cheap Goats remained comfortably in front.
Zach led off the top of the fourth with a solo homer, trimming the deficit to 6-3. Billy followed with a double, but Dinger stranded him by retiring Nate and Tom, keeping Cheap Goats ahead by three.
Christian and Dinger were both retired in a quick bottom of the fourth as Tom posted his first scoreless inning of the contest.
Zach and Billy were both retired in order in the top of the fifth as Dinger continued to cruise.
Cheap Goats put the game away in the bottom of the fifth. Joey led off with his second homer of the afternoon, extending the lead to 7-3. Kevin followed with a triple, and Christian crushed his second homer of the game, a two-run shot that pushed the advantage to 9-3. Tom retired Dinger and Joey to end the inning, but Shady Characters faced a six-run deficit heading into their final at-bat.
Dinger returned to the mound in the sixth and retired Nate and Tom to finish off the complete game victory, securing a 9-3 win for Cheap Goats.
The win moved Cheap Goats to 9-8 on the season while Shady Characters fell to 5-12.
