Mike pitched a complete game shutout, and Bob dominated at the plate, as Questionable Outfit rolled past the Ham Slams 8-0 to take a 2-0 lead in the first round series.

After a dramatic game 1 win, Questionable Outfit turned to Mike to start game 2 against the Ham Slams. The first batter he faced, Kyle, singled, just as he had in game 1. But Mike avoided trouble, retiring the next two batters to end the inning.

Questionable Outfit got right to work at the plate in the bottom of the first. Charlie, who had 1.5 innings of eligibility left, started on the mound for the Ham Slams. He retired Tom to start the bottom of the first, and Reilly followed with a one-out single. The next batter, Bob, crushed a two-run blast to right, putting Questionable Outfit ahead 2-0. Mike followed with a one-out double, but Charlie retired Tom for the second out, ending the inning.

Mike breezed through the top of the second, retiring the side in order. Charlie retired Reilly to start the bottom of the second, and had reached his innings limit. The Ham Slams brought in Josh from the bullpen, and he gave up a one-out single to Bob. But Questionable couldn’t capitalize, as Josh retired Mike to end the inning.

Kyle singled to lead off the top of the third, but Mike retired the next two batters to strand the runner and maintain the 2-0 lead.

Tom led off the bottom of the third with a single, but Josh got Reilly and Bob to fly out, stranding the runner and ending the inning.

Mike cruised through the top of the fourth, retiring Josh and Charlie consecutively.

Up 2-0, Mike led off the bottom of the fourth with a single. The next batter, Tom, roped a double into the tree. Mike scored on the play, pushing the score to 3-0. Tom moved to third when Reilly grounded out for the first out of the inning, but the next batter, Bob, crushed his second homer of the game. The two-run blast put Questionable Outfit ahead 5-0. Josh then retired Mike for the second out of the inning.

With a five-run lead, Mike pitched a scoreless frame in the top of the fifth.

Questionable Outfit would put the game away in the bottom of the fifth. Tom led off the inning with a double, and moved to third when Reilly singled. With no outs and two runners in scoring position, Bob blasted his third home run of the game, a three-run shot to right-center. Questionable Outfit had opened up an 8-run lead, and Bob had registered his 7th RBI of the game. Josh retired the next two batters to end the inning, but the Ham Slams would trail by eight runs heading into the sixth.

Steve led off the top of the sixth with a single, but the Ham Slams couldn’t rally. Mike retired the next two batters, Josh and Charlie, ending the inning and the game.

Questionable Outfit’s 8-0 victory put them up 2-0 in the best-of-five first round series with the Ham Slams, one win away from advancing.
