Dustin and Dan Lead Ham Slams Past Eastbound & Dahn 5-1

Dustin pitched the complete game for the Ham Slams, allowing only one run on four hits.

Dustin was effective on the mound, allowing only one run on four hits, and also homered as the Ham Slams moved into a tie with Cookies & Cream in the standings at the season’s halfway point. Dan also went 3-for-4 to help lead the Ham Slams on offense, with two doubles, a triple, and three runs scored.

Dustin retired the Eastbound side in order in the top of the first, and the opposing pitcher, Nate O, did the same in the bottom half of the inning, sending Dan and Dustin of the Ham Slams down in order.

Eastbound would take the lead in the top of the second when Nate C led off the inning with a double, and two batters later, Nate O drove him in with an RBI double. Dustin retired Christian for the second out of the inning, and Eastbound led 1-0.

Dustin’s second inning two-run homer put the Ham Slams ahead for good

Nate O continued to pitch well in the bottom of the second, retiring Josh and then striking out Steve to end the inning.

Nate C singled to lead off the top of the third and two batters later, when Nat O doubled with one out, Nate C was caught trying to score on the play, ending the inning.

The Ham Slams bounced back in the bottom of the third, taking the lead. Dan started the inning with a double, and Dustin put the Slams ahead with a two-run homer to left-center. Nate O retired the next to Ham Slams hitters, but Eastbound now trailed 2-1.

Dustin rolled through the top of the fourth, sending Christian and Nate C down in order.

The Slams would add to their lead in the bottom of the fourth. Dan led off the inning with a double, and two batters later, Josh hit a two-run homer, and the Slams led 4-1. Steve followed with a triple, but was caught out trying to make the hit an inside-the-park homer, ending the inning.

Dan, who just scooped up a ground ball in left, went 3-for-4 with three extra-base hits to lead the Ham Slams on offense.

Dustin continued to stymie Eastbound, retiring the side in order in the top of the fifth. The Slams would add one additional insurance run in the bottom half of the inning.

Dan started the bottom of the fifth with a triple, and when Dustin grounded out to right for the first out of the inning, Dan scored from third. Nate O then retired Josh for the second out, and Eastbound trailed by four heading into their final at-bat.

Eastbound couldn’t rally in the top of the sixth, as Dustin sent Christian and Nate C down in order, the fifth and sixth consecutive batters that he had retired.

The 5-1 win moved the Ham Slams to 5-5 on the season, tied for second with Cookies & Cream. The loss dropped Eastbound & Dahn to 2-8.
