Kevin Hits Four Bombs and Courtlen’s Walk-Off Homer Caps Wild 13-11 Cheap Goats Victory Over Shady Characters
Cheap Goats led a back-and-forth battle 11-6 before giving up five runs in the top of the fifth, allowing Shady Characters to draw even late. Two innings later, however, Cheap Goats avoided another heartbreaking loss to start the 2026 season, as Courtlen crushed a two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the sixth, giving Cheap Goats a 13-11 win. Kevin had what may have been the best offensive game of the early 2026 season, going 5-for-5 with a single, four homers, five runs scored, and seven RBI, and Cheap Goats pulled closer to .500 after winning one of the best games of 2026 so far.
Dinger started for Cheap Goats, and he retired Zach and Billy in order in the top of the first.
Tom K started on the mound for Shady Characters, and Cheap Goats wasted little time getting on the board. Joey led off the bottom of the first with a home run, and Kevin followed with a solo shot of his own. The back-to-back homers gave Cheap Goats an early 2-0 lead. Courtlen flew out before Christian doubled, but Tom K stranded him, retiring Dinger to end the inning.
Lucas hit a one-out double in the top of the second, and Nate drove him in with an RBI triple, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Zach followed with an RBI single to score Nate, tying the game at 2-2. Billy then singled before Tom K connected for a three-run homer, putting Shady Characters ahead 5-2. Lucas flew out to end the inning.
Cheap Goats bounced back in the bottom of the second. Conor singled and Joey doubled, putting two runners on with no outs. Kevin connected for a three-run homer, tying the game at 5-5. Courtlen followed with a single, and two batters later, Dinger drove in Courtlen with an RBI double, giving Cheap Goats a 6-5 lead. Conor grounded out to end the inning, stranding Dinger at second, and Cheap Goats had reclaimed the lead.
Nate led off the top of the third with a solo homer, tying the game at 6-6. Dinger then retired Zach and Billy to end the inning.
Joey flew out to begin the bottom of the third before Kevin connected for his third homer in as many at-bats, giving Cheap Goats a 7-6 lead. Courtlen grounded out to end the inning, and Shady Characters trailed by a run.
Tom K singled to begin the top of the fourth, but Lucas grounded out and Nate flew out as Dinger escaped the inning without allowing a run.
Christian singled to begin the bottom of the fourth, and two batters later, with one out, Conor connected for a two-run homer, extending the Cheap Goats lead to 9-6. Joey followed with a double, and Kevin struck again with a two-run homer, his fourth of the game, pushing the Cheap Goats lead to 11-6. Shady Characters brought Lucas to the mound from the bullpen, and he got Courtlen to ground out to end the inning.
Shady Characters answered in the top of the fifth. Zach singled, and two batters later, Tom K then connected for his second homer of the game, a two-run shot that cut the deficit to 11-8. Lucas and Nate each singled, and Zach hit a three-run homer, tying the game at 11-11. Cheap Goats turned to their bullpen, bringing Conor to the mound, and he retired Billy to end the inning. Shady Characters’ five-run one-out rally had tied the game.
Tom K returned to the mound in the bottom of the fifth. He struck out Christian, and after allowing a one-out single to Dinger, he retired Conor, stranding the runner and ending the inning.
Conor remained on the mound in the top of the sixth. He struck out Tom K and retired Lucas, and the game remained tied heading into the bottom of the sixth.
After retiring Joey, Tom allowed a one-out single to Kevin, putting the winning run on base. The next batter, Courtlen, crushed a two-run homer to left-center, and the walk-off bomb gave Cheap Goats a thrilling 13-11 victory.
The win moved Cheap Goats to 2-3 on the season while Shady Characters dropped to 1-4.

Conor earned the win for Cheap Goats, recording the final three outs of the game, including a strikeout, in 1.5 innings of scoreless relief.
Dinger picked up a no-decision for Cheap Goats, allowing eleven runs on twelve hits in 4.5 innings.
Tom K took the loss for Shady Characters, allowing thirteen runs on sixteen hits and striking out one in five innings.
Lucas faced one batter in relief, and retired the batter.
Kevin had a monster game at the plate to lead Cheap Goats, going 5-for-5 with a single, four home runs, five runs scored, and seven RBI.
Courlen went 2-for-5 with a single, a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI. His walk-off homer sealed the victory for Cheap Goats, and it was the second walk-off homer of his career (the other coming in 2024).
Joey went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a homer, three runs scored, and an RBI, and his solo homer was the nineteenth leadoff homer of his wiffle career.
Zach, Tom, and Nate each had three hits in the Shady Characters loss. Zach went 3-for-5 with two singles, a three-run homer, three runs scored, and four RBI. Tom went 3-for-4 with a single, two home runs, two runs scored, and five RBI. And Nate went 3-for-5 with a single, a triple, a home run, three runs scored, and two RBI.
