All five Cheap Goats had multiple hits, and Kevin and Courtlen both went deep twice as Cheap Goats opened the second half of the 2026 EWL season with a 10-7 win over Shady Characters.
Tom took the mound for Shady Characters, and Cheap Goats got on the board quickly. Joey led off the game with a double, and Kevin crushed a two-run homer, giving Cheap Goats a 2-0 lead. Courtlen followed with a solo homer, and the back-to-back jacks extended the advantage to 3-0. Christian singled and Dinger doubled, putting two runners in scoring position, but Tom escaped further damage, retiring Joey and Kevin to end the inning.
Dinger started on the mound for Cheap Goats and retired Tom and Thomas in order to preserve the early three-run lead.
Courtlen and Christian were both retired in a quick top of the second.
Billy singled with one out in the bottom of the second, but Dinger stranded him, retiring Lucas to tend the inning.
Dinger singled to lead off the top of the third, and Joey launched a two-run homer, extending the Cheap Goats lead to 5-0. Tom retired Kevin and Courtlen to end the inning, and Shady Characters trailed by five runs.
Shady Characters answered in the bottom of the third. Nate opened the inning with a single before Tom hit a two-run homer, putting Shady Characters on the board at 5-2. Thomas followed with a double, and Zach launched Shady Characters’ second two-run homer of the inning, cutting the deficit to 5-4. Lucas later doubled with one out, but Dinger avoided further damage, retiring Nate to strand the runner, ending the inning and holding a one-run lead.
Christian and Dinger were both retired in the top of the fourth as Tom worked a scoreless inning.
Tom opened the bottom of the fourth with a double, but Dinger stranded him, retiring Thomas and Zach.
Kevin hit a one-out triple in the top of the fifth, and Courtlen followed with his second homer of the game, a two-run shot that pushed the Cheap Goats lead to 7-4. Christian flew out to end the inning, and Cheap Goats led by three runs.
Billy and Lucas were both retired in a quick bottom of the fifth.
Cheap Goats added insurance runs in the top of the sixth. Dinger doubled, and Joey drove him in with an RBI double that made the score 8-4. Kevin followed with his second two-run homer of the game, and Cheap Goats were in front 10-4. Two batters later, Christian hit a one-out double, but Tom stranded him, retiring Dinger to end the inning, and Shady Characters trailed by six runs heading into their final at-bat.
Shady Characters mounted a one-out rally in the bottom of the sixth. After Nate grounded out, Tom tripled. Thomas followed with a two-run homer, cutting the deficit to 10-6. Zach followed with a solo homer, bringing Shady Characters within three runs at 10-7. Dinger remained on the mound, and he closed things out, retiring Billy to end the game, giving Cheap Goats a 10-7 win.
The win moved Cheap Goats to 5-6 on the season while Shady Characters fell to 3-8.

Tom took the loss for Shady Characters, allowing ten runs on thirteen hits in a complete game effort.
Joey, Kevin, and Courtlen powered the Cheap Goats offense to victory. Joey went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a homer, three runs scored, and three RBI. Kevin went 3-for-5 with a triple, two home runs, three runs scored, and four RBI, and Courtlen went 2-for-5 with two home runs two runs scored, and three RBI.
Tom set the pace for Shady Characters in the loss, going 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI.
