Jack Shack exploded in the third inning, scoring seven runs and swatting four homers, en route to defeating Shady Characters 9-5. Josh and Jacob each had four extra-base hits in the win, and Jon D kept Shady Characters’ bats at bay in a complete game effort, sending them to their fourth straight loss.
Jon D started for Jack Shack and retired Tom and Thomas in order in the top of the first.
Lucas took the mound for Shady Characters, and Jack Shack struck first in the bottom of the opening inning. Josh led off with a double, and two batters later, Jacob drove him home with an RBI triple, giving Jack Shack a 1-0 lead. Lucas got Jon D to fly out to end the inning, stranding Jacob at third.
Zach and Billy were both retired in a quick top of the second as Jon D settled in early.
Dave grounded out to begin the bottom of the second before Josh doubled for the second time. Lucas escaped trouble, however, getting Jon M to ground out and preserving the one-run deficit.
Lucas led off top of the third with a solo homer, tying the game at 1-1. Nate followed with a double, but Shady Characters couldn’t rally. Jon D retired Tom and Thomas to strand Nate at second, ending the inning, and the game was tied 1-1.
Jack Shack took control of the game in the bottom of the third. Jacob led off with a solo homer, putting Jack Shack back in front 2-1. Jon D followed with a double, and Dave also doubled, putting two runners in scoring position with no outs. Josh emptied the bases, hitting a three-run homer that blew the game open and made the score 5-1. Jon M followed with a solo homer, and the back-to-back homers extended the advantage to 6-1. The storm continued as Jacob hit his second solo shot of the inning, putting Jack Shack in front 7-1. After retiring Jon D, Lucas allowed a one-out single to Dave, and he moved from first to third when Josh doubled. Jon M followed with a single, scoring Dave to extend the lead to 8-1, but Josh was caught out also trying to score on the play, ending the inning.
Shady Characters responded in the top of the fourth. Zach led off with a single, and Billy followed with a two-run homer, cutting the deficit to 8-3. Lucas and Nate were both retired to end the inning, and Shady Characters trailed by five runs.
Jacob led off the bottom of the fourth with a triple, and when he scored when Jon D grounded out for the first out of the inning. Lucas struck out Dave to end the inning, and Jack Shack led 9-3.
Tom struck out to begin the top of the fifth before Thomas connected for a solo homer, making the score 9-4. Zach followed with a solo shot of his own, bringing Shady Characters within four runs at 9-5. Jon D retired Billy to end the inning.
Jon M doubled with one out in the bottom of the fifth, but Lucas stranded him, and the score was 9-5 heading into the sixth.
Nate doubled with one out in the top of the sixth, but Shady Characters couldn’t rally. Jon D retired Tom to strand the runner at second, ending the inning and the game, as Jack Shack won 9-5.
The win moved Jack Shack to 7-5 on the season while Shady Characters fell to 3-9.

Josh and Jacob each went 4-for-5 to lead Jack Shack. Josh had three doubles, a home run, two runs scored, and three RBI. Jacob had two triples, two homers, three runs scored, and three RBI.
Zach led Shady Characters in the loss, going 2-for-3 with a single and a solo homer.
