Bob Leads Questionable Outfit to 6-2 Game Two Win Over Cookies & Cream, Evens Wiffle Series at 1-1

After being shutout for the first time in 129 games (and only the second time in franchise history), Questionable Outfit bounced back in game two of the Wiffle Series, taking an early lead and riding Bob’s arm and bat to victory, evening the series at one game each. Questionable Outfit had not been shutout since game three of the 2013 Wiffle Series before being blanked in game one, but got their bats out in game two, as Bob homered twice, and Tom and Miller each added homers. Bob was in control on the mound, allowing only two runs on five hits, both solo homers to Erich.

Bob took the mound for Questionable Outfit, and using a somewhat new delivery, he was in command early. He retired Joey and Erich in order in the top of the first, and he provided his own run support in the bottom half of the inning.

After struggling to plate runs in game one, Bob set the tone early for Questionable Outfit in game two. He led off the game with a solo homer to deep right-center, putting Questionable Outfit ahead 1-0. Later in the inning, Mike would double with one out, but Dinger limited the damage to a run, retiring Miller to strand the runner and end the inning.

Dinger singled with one out in the top of the second, but Bob stranded him, retiring Joey to end the inning with the score 1-0.

Questionable added to their lead in the bottom of the second. Bob led off the inning with a double, and Tom followed with a two-run homer to left, putting Questionable ahead 3-0. Mike followed with a single, but when Miller flew out to right, Mike was caught in between first and second, and the double play ended the inning with Questionable Outfit up three.

Cookies & Cream got on the board in the top of the third when Erich led off the inning with a solo homer, making the score 3-1. Bob retired Jordan and Dinger to end the inning, and Cookies had cut the deficit to two runs.

Questionable Outfit immediately made up the run in the bottom of the third. Bob started the inning with a solo homer, his second of the game, and Questionable led 4-1. Two batters later, Mike singled with one out. Miller followed with a hit off the fence, scoring Mike from first to make the score 5-1. Miller attempted to make an inside-the-park home run out of the hit, but was caught between third and home, ending the inning with Questionable Outfit leading by four runs.

With one out in the top of the fourth, Erich hit a solo homer for the second consecutive inning, cutting the score to 5-2. Jordan followed with a single, but Cookies & Cream couldn’t rally, as Bob retired Dinger to strand the runner and end the inning.

Tom singled with one out in the bottom of the fourth, but Dinger stranded him, retiring Mike, and the score remained 5-2.

Bob cruised through the top of the fifth, sending Joey and Erich down consecutively.

Miller’s solo homer in the bottom of the fifth put Questionable Outfit ahead 6-2

Questionable Outfit added one more insurance run in the bottom of the fifth when Miller led off the inning with a solo homer to left. Dinger retired Bob and Tom to end the inning, and the score was 6-2 heading into the sixth inning.

Dinger doubled with one out in the top of the sixth, but Cookies & Cream, and especially Joey, couldn’t crack Bob. He retired Joey for the fifth consecutive time, stranding Dinger at second and ending the inning and the game.

The 6-2 Questionable win in game two evened the best-of-seven series at 1-1. Cookies & Cream will serve as the home team for games 3 and 4.

Jordan and Joey Lead Cookies & Cream to 4-0 Win Over Questionable Outfit in Game One of Wiffle Series

For the fifth consecutive year, Cookies & Cream and Questionable Outfit advanced to the Wiffle Series and will face off for Wiffle glory in the best-of-seven championship series. In 2013, Cookies & Cream swept Questionable Outfit, and Questionable Outfit seem to be paying them back ever since. Questionable Outfit, the three time defending champions, beat Cookies & Cream in the 2014, ’15, and ’16 Wiffle Series, and now will have a chance to win their fourth straight title. Cookies & Cream, coming off a stunning comeback in their first round series with the Ham Slams, got the upper hand in game one of the Wiffle Series. Jordan pitched a complete game shutout, his second in a row, and Joey went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a home run as Cookies & Cream took an early lead in the series with a 4-0 win.

Riding their momentum from the first round, Cookies & Cream jumped ahead early, getting to Questionable Outfit’s starter, Miller. Joey led off the game with a double, and two batters later, Jordan hit a one-out triple, scoring Joey to make the score 1-0. Miller retired Dinger to end the inning, and Cookies & Cream led by one.

Jordan allowed a single to Bob to start the bottom of the first, but he stranded him at first, retiring Tom and Mike in order to end the inning with the score 1-0.

For the second consecutive inning, Joey led off with a double in the top of the second. Erich flew out in foul territory, and Joey tagged, advancing to third. Questionable Outfit made a throwing error trying to get the second out, and Joey scored from third, putting Cookies & Cream ahead 2-0. Miller then retired Jordan to end the inning with Cookies ahead by two.

Miller retired Dinger to start the top of the third, but the next batter he faced, Joey, laced a line drive homer to left. The solo shot put Cookies & Cream ahead 3-0. Miller retired Jordan to end the inning, and Questionable trailed by three runs.

Jordan continued to roll in the bottom of the third, retiring Tom and Mike in order.

Miller pitched his first perfect frame in the top of the fourth, sending Jordan and Dinger down consecutively.

Bob singled with one out in the bottom of the fourth, but Questionable couldn’t advance him. Jordan retired Tom to end the inning, and Questionable Outfit hadn’t advanced a runner past first base through four innings.

Miller retired Joey for the first time in the game in the top of the fifth, but Erich followed with a deep solo homer to right-center, putting Cookies & Cream ahead 4-0. Miller retired Jordan to end the inning, and Questionable would need a four run rally.

Mike started the bottom of the fifth with a double, but Jordan clamped down again, retiring Miller and Bob in order to strand the runner, and the score was 4-0 through five innings.

Dinger singled to start the top of the sixth, but when Joey grounded out to the mound, Miller tagged Dinger, caught in between first and second, to end the inning.

Questionable Outfit had rallied to shock Cookies & Cream multiple times in the past, including a dramatic bottom-of-the-seventh inning comeback in game one of the 2015 Wiffle Series. They looked to repeat history, and it appeared as if it may happen. Mike singled with one out, and Miller followed with a double, putting two runners in scoring position. It was the most Questionable Outfit had threatened, but the rally would end there. Jordan got Bob to fly out to right field, stranding both runners, ending the inning and the game.

Questionable Outfit Sweep Eastbound & Dahn with 16-0 Game Three Win, Advance to Wiffle Series

Questionable Outfit and Eastbound & Dahn shake hands at the conclusion of their first round playoff series. Questionable Outfit earned the sweep, winning the first three games of the best-of-five series.

The three-time defending champions of the EWL, Questionable Outfit, earned a fifth consecutive trip to the EWL Wiffle Series by completing a first round sweep of Eastbound & Dahn with a 16-0 win in game three. Miller hit for the cycle, going 7-for-8, and all four Questionable players pitched effectively in what was nearly a no-hitter (until the final inning). Eastbound & Dahn’s season ended with twenty consecutive losses in what will go down as perhaps the most challenging season in EWL history. Questionable Outfit will await the winner of the first round series between the Ham Slams and Cookies & Cream to determine who they will face off against for the championship.

BK started on the mound for Eastbound & Dahn, and he fell behind early. Bob led off the game with a triple, and Tom drove him in with an RBI double that made the score 1-0. Rairigh then singled to put runners on the corners, and when Miller grounded out to center for the first out, Tom score, putting Questionable ahead 2-0. Bob followed with a single, scoring Rairigh, and the lead was 3-0. Tom then singled to put runners on first and second with one out, but BK avoided further damage, retiring Rairigh for the second, out stranding two runners and ending the inning.

Bob took the mound to start the game for Questionable Outfit, and he retired the side in order in the bottom of the first.

Bob pitched two scoreless innings for Questionable Outfit and earned the win in game 3.

Miller led off the top of the second with a double, but Questionable couldn’t score him, as BK retired Bob and Tom to strand the runner and end the inning with the score 3-0.

Questionable put Rairigh on the mound in the bottom of the second, and he retired Kyle and BK consecutively.

Questionable Outfit would open up a big lead in the top of the third. Rairigh led off with a triple, and Miller drove him in with a two-run bomb to left-center, making the Questionable lead 5-0. Bob then singled and move to third when Tom doubled. Mike came to the plate with two runners in scoring position, and he scored them both with an RBI single that made the score 7-0. Miller then tripled, scoring Mike, and the lead was 8-0. The big inning would end there, as BK retired Bob and Tom, and Eastbound & Dahn trailed by eight.

Rairigh launches one of his five hits in the game. He also pitched two scoreless innings of relief in the Questionable Outfit win.

Questionable Outfit turned to Miller on the mound in the bottom of the third, and he retired Adam and Nate C in order, making Questionable Outfit perfect through three innings.

Rairigh led off the top of the fourth with a single, and he moved from first to third when Miller followed with a single that gave him the cycle for the game. BK got Bob to ground out to center for the first out of the inning, but Rairigh scored on the play, making the score 9-0. Tom then grounded out to left, ending the inning.

Questionable continued their rotating cast of pitchers, switching to Tom in the bottom of the fourth. He retired the side in order, the seventh and eighth consecutive batters retired to start the game.

Questionable added more to their lead in the top of the fifth. Rairigh led off with a double and moved to third when Miller followed with a double. Bob grounded out to center for the first out of the inning, but both baserunners scored on the play, and Questionable Outfit led 11-0. Tom then hit a solo homer to left, pushing the Questionable lead to 12-0. BK retired Rairigh to end the inning, and the lead was now twelve runs.

Bob went 5-for-9 in the Questionable Outfit victory with 3 singles, a double, a triple, and 6 RBI

Bob returned to the mound in the top of the fifth, and he send Nate O and Christian down in order, making Questionable Outfit perfect through five innings with a twelve run lead.

Miller started the top of the sixth with a double, and Bob drove him in with an RBI single that made the score 13-0. Tom singled to put runners on first and second, and two batters later, Miller hit a one-out double, clearing the bases, and Questionable Outfit’s lead was 15-0. Bob then doubled, scoring Miller from second, and the score was 16-0. BK retired Tom to end the inning, and Eastbound & Dahn would head into the bottom of the sixth needing sixteen runs to extend their season and a hit to break up the perfect game.

The rotation of pitchers turned to Rairigh, who pitched a perfect frame in the bottom of the second for Questionable Outfit. He retired Adam, the first batter he faced, and he was one out away from sealing a first round sweep and a perfect game no-hitter. But Eastbound & Dahn showed a glimpse of life on their way out of the 2017 season. Nate C came to the plate as the last out, but he managed to hit a seeing-eye single that fell in for a base hit, breaking up the no hitter. After retiring the first eleven hitters of the game, the twelfth hitter, Nate C., had broken up the perfect game. Eastbound got another hit when Nate O. followed with a single, and Eastbound had two runners on. They had broken up the historical no-hit bid, but a sixteen run rally wasn’t in the cards. Rairigh cracked down and retired Christian for the second out of the inning, stranding both runners and ending the game.

Questionable Outfit had completed a first round sweep of Eastbound & Dahn, winning the best-of-five series 3-0 and advancing to the Wiffle Series for the fifth consecutive year.

Mike and Tom Lead Questionable Outfit to 5-2 Game Two Win Over Eastbound & Dahn

Questionable Outfit moved one step closer to clinching a spot in the 2017 Wiffle Series with a 5-2 win over Eastbound & Dahn in game two of their best-of-five series. After getting beaten soundly in game on of the series, Eastbound showed life in game two, keeping the game close throughout. Ultimately, Questionable Outfit’s hitting and Eastbound & Dahn’s weak defense led to a second consecutive victory for Questionable, as Tom and Mike each went 3-for-5 to lead them on offense. Mike and Bob split the pitching duties, allowing only two runs in the victory. Questionable Outfit can close out the series in game 3 and advance to the Wiffle Series for the fifth consecutive year.

Questionable got on the board in the bottom of the second, starting when Bob singled off BK and moved to second when BK retired Tom for the first out of the inning. Mike then tripled, scoring Bob, and Questionable led 1-0. BK then retired Miller to end the inning, and Eastbound & Dahn trailed by a run.

Questionable would extend their lead in the bottom of the second. Bob singled and moved to third when Tom followed with a double. Mike then singled to load the bases for Miller, who had a rare opportunity for a grand slam. He didn’t homer, but he singled, scoring Bob, and the score was 2-0. Bob then had an opportunity for a grand slam as well, but he hit a high fly ball to center. Nate O caught the ball for the first out of the inning, but Tom tagged up and scored on the play, making the score 3-0. Tom then doubled, scoring Mike, and Questionable Outfit led 4-0. BK escaped the inning by retiring Mike for the second out, and Eastbound was down by four.

Adam tripled to start the top of the third, the first Eastbound hit of the game. Eastbound couldn’t capitalize on the runner in scoring position, as Mike retired Nate C and Nate O, stranding the runner, and ending the inning.

Miller led off the bottom of the third with a double, and two batters later, Tom hit an RBI single to score him, pushing the score to 5-0. BK then retired Mike to end the inning.

Questionable removed Mike from the mound in the top of the fourth and brought Bob in from the bullpen. He struck out the first batter he faced, Christian, and then retired Kyle to end the inning. BK matched him in the bottom of the fourth, retiring the side in order, and the score remained 5-0.

Eastbound would get on the board in the top of the fifth. BK singled to lead off, and he scored from first when Adam followed with an RBI double that made the score 5-1. Bob then retired both Eastbound Nates to strand Adam at second and end the inning with Eastbound down four runs.

Mike singled with one out in the bottom of the fifth, but Questionable couldn’t add to their lead, as BK retired Miller to strand the runner and end the inning.

Christian led off the top of the sixth with a double, and he moved to third when Kyle grounded out for the first out of the inning. Bob, not paying attention on the mound, allowed Christian to essentially steal home on the play, and Eastbound cut the lead to 5-2. The rally would end there, however, as Bob retired BK for the second out of the inning, ending the game and giving Questionable Outfit a 5-2 victory.

The win gave Questionable Outfit a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five first round series and put them one win away from clinching a spot in the 2017 Wiffle Series.

Questionable Outfit Offense Too Much for Eastbound & Dahn in 16-2 Game One Rout

Both Questionable Outfit and Eastbound & Dahn continued where they left off in the regular season in game one of their best-of-five first round series, as Questionable’s offense was explosive and Eastbound’s defense was porous. Questionable Outfit took advantage of countless fielding errors, jumping out to a large lead in the first inning, and they never looked back, cruising to a 16-2 victory. Bob went 6-for-7, hitting for the cycle, with a single, three doubles, a triple, and a home run, while his teammate, Miller, went 5-for-6 with a single, three doubles, a home run, and four RBI.

Miller started on the mound for Questionable Outfit, and he retired Eastbound in order in the top of the first.

Christian started for Eastbound & Dahn, and his defense failed him immediately and often. After an unthinkable number of fielding errors, which Questionable Outfit took full advantage of, Eastbound & Dahn trailed 9-0. Questionable reached base safely in seven of their first eight at-bats, all eight of which should have been recorded as outs.

Bob led off the game with a single and moved to third when Tom followed with a double. Mike then hit an RBI single, scoring Bob to make the score 1-0. Miller followed with an RBI double to score Tom, and the score was 2-0. Christian retired Bob for the first out of the inning, but Tom followed by clearing the bases with an RBI double, and Questionable led 4-0. Mike doubled to score Tom, pushing the Questionable lead to 5-0, and Miller followed with a two-run blast to left, and Questionable led 7-0. Bob then tripled, and Tom belted a two-run homer to left-center, making the score 9-0. Christian finally retired Mike for the second out of the inning, but the game was all but over after an inning.

Miller struck out Kyle to start the top of the second, and then retired BK to end the inning.

Miller continued to roll on the mound, retiring Eastbound in order in the top of the third, and he had retired Eastbound’s first six batters without allowing a base runner.

Mike started the bottom of the third with a double, and Miller drove him in with an RBI single, making the score 11-0. Bob doubled to put runners on second and third, and Tom cleared the bases with an RBI double, putting Questionable Outfit ahead 13-0. Mike followed with a single, but he was doubled off when Miller flew out to center and Mike did not tag up, ending the inning.

Eastbound & Dahn would get on the board in the top of the fourth when Nate O led off the inning with a solo shot to left-center, and the score was 13-1. Christian followed with a double, and he moved to third when Kyle singled, putting runners on the corners with no outs. Miller got BK to ground out to center for the first out of the inning, but Christian scored on the play, cutting the Questionable lead to 13-2. Miller then retired Adam to end the inning, stranding Kyle at second.

Bob doubled to lead off the bottom of the fourth, and he scored from second when Tom grounded out to center for the first out of the inning. Christian then retired Mike for a relatively quick inning, and Questionable Outfit led 14-2.

Tom entered the game in relief of Miller in the top of the fifth. The first batter he faced, Nate C, singled, and he moved from first to third when Nate O followed with a double. Eastbound was threatening, but Tom cracked down, retiring Christian and Kyle to strand both runners without allowing a run, and the score remained 14-2.

Miller started the bottom of the fifth with a double, and Bob drove him in with a two-run homer to right-center, giving him the cycle for the game and putting Questionable Outfit ahead 16-2. Christian retired Tom and Mike to end the inning, and Eastbound trailed by fourteen runs heading into their final at-bat.

Tom ended the game quickly in the top of the sixth, retiring BK and Adam in order, giving Questionable Outfit a 16-2 victory in game one of the first round series.

Questionable Outfit would now be two wins away from advancing the Wiffle Series for the fifth consecutive season.
