Christian of Cheap Goats Named Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week

After putting together the best offensive week of his wiffle career, Christian was voted the Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week for week 9 of the 2022 season. Despite his team dropping both week 9 games, Christian was swinging a hot bat and did his part to keep Cheap Goats in contention with five extra-base hits and several warning track shots that nearly made for a legendary week.

In a 4-1 loss to Shady Characters, Christian went 2-for-3 with two doubles and drove in the only Cheap Goats run in the game.

In a dramatic 5-4 loss to Jack Shack, he went 3-for-4 with a triple, two home runs, two runs scored, and three RBI.

Christian is now the second consecutive player to be named Wiffler of the Week for a team that lost both games that week.

This is the second time Christian has been voted Wiffler of the Week during his wiffle career. He also earned the honors during week 2 of the 2020 playoffs.

Adam’s Walk-Off Homer in the Bottom of the Sixth Gives Jack Shack 5-4 Win Over Cheap Goats and Boost in Season Standings

Adam’s Walk-Off Homer in the Bottom of the Sixth Ended a Dramatic 5-4 Win for Jack Shack and moved them into control of third place in the 2022 season standings

One of the better games of the 2022 season ended in dramatic fashion, as Adam led off the bottom of the sixth with a walk-off solo homer than won the game for Jack Shack. Christian was effective on the mound and even more effective at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three extra-base hits, but Cheap Goats made too many mistakes, leaving the door open for Jack Shack. The win sealed the season tiebreaker against Cheap Goats and put Jack Shack a game ahead of them in the standings in third place.

Brian took the mound for Jack Shack, and after allowing a leadoff double to Miller, he retired Joe and Joey, stranding the runner at second and ending the inning.

Christian allowed a one-out double to Adam in the bottom of the first, but he also stranded a runner at second, retiring Josh to end the inning.

Christian tripled to start the top of the second, but Brian struck out Dinger and then retired Miller, stranding another Cheap Goats’ runner in scoring position, and the game remained scoreless.

Jack Shack pulled ahead in the bottom of the second. Jared singled to lead off the inning, and Brian drove him in with a two-run homer to deep left, making the score 2-0. Christian retired the next two batters, Rob and Adam, to end the inning.

Cheap Goats pulled even in the top of the third. Joey doubled with one out, and Christian followed with a two-run shot to right, tying the game at 2-2. Dinger followed with a single, but Brian stranded him, retiring Miller to end the inning.

Jack Shack bounced back to retake the lead in the bottom of the third. Josh led off the innig with a triple, and he scored from third when Jared grounded out for the first out of the inning. Christian retired Brian to end the inning, and Jack Shack led 3-2.

Cheap Goats once again evened things up in the top of the fourth. Joe singled, and he scored from first when Joey followed with an RBI double, tying the game at 3-3. The go-ahead run was in scoring position, but Brian retired Christian and Dinger to strand the runner at second, ending the inning.

Jack Shack immediately pulled back ahead in the bottom of the fourth when Rob led off the inning with a solo homer to left. Christian retired the next two batters, Adam and Josh, and Jack Shack led 4-3.

Brian retired Cheap Goats in order in the top of the fifth, sending Miller and Joe down consecutively.

Jared led off the bottom of the fifth with a triple, but Christian buckled down, retiring Brian and Rob to strand the runner at third, and the Jack Shack lead remained a single run.

Brian retired Joey for the first out in the top of the sixth, leaving Cheap Goats to their final out. After swinging a hot bat all day, Christian came through again, hitting a solo homer to right, tying the game at 4-4. Brian retired Dinger to end the inning, but Christian had given Cheap Goats life.

The excitement wouldn’t last long, however, as Jack Shack quickly responded for yet another time in the bottom of the sixth. The first batter of the inning, Adam, crushed a solo homer to deep right-center, and the walk-off homer won the game for Jack Shack. The 5-4 win moved Jack Shack a game ahead of Cheap Goats in the season standings and in control of third place, important for avoiding Shady Characters in the first round of the playoffs.

The win moved Jack Shack to 7-11 on the season, and the loss dropped Cheap Goats to 6-12.

Bohn, Alec, and Brum Power Guac Boys Past Shady Characters 8-4

Bohn, Alec, and Brum combined for ten hits, as Bohn went deep twice, Alec had two triples and a homer, and Brum had four hits in the Guac Boys’ 8-4 win over Shady Characters. Brum pitched the complete game win, allowing four runs on only four hits to the vaunted Shady Characters’ offense, and the Guac Boys tightened their grip on second place in the season standings with only two games left before the playoffs. Mike, Nate, and Jason all homered in the Shady Characters loss, yet they remain two wins away from clinching the best regular season record in EWL history.

Brum retired the side in order in the top of the first, retiring Dylan and Mike consecutively.

Bohn led off the bottom of the first with a solo homer, immediately giving the Guac Boys a 1-0 lead. After retiring Alec, Shady Characters’ starter, Tom, allowed one-out singles to Brum and Kyle. The Guac Boys had two on with one out, but Tom escaped the jam, retiring Sean to strand both runners, ending the inning.

Brum once again rolled in the top of the second, retiring Tom and Jason in order.

Tom struck out Bohn to start the top of the second, but Alec followed with a one-out triple. Brum then doubled, scoring Alec, and the Guac Boys led 2-0.

Shady Characters cut the lead in half in the top of the third when Nate hit a one-out solo homer, making the score 2-1. Brum then retired Dylan to end the inning.

The Guac Boys made up the difference in the bottom of the third. Lucas relieved Tom from the bullpen, and after retiring the first batter he faced, Sean, Bohn hit his second solo homer of the game, putting the Guac Boys in front 3-1. Alec tripled, and Brum drove him in with an RBI double, extending the lead to 4-1. Lucas then retired Kyle to strand Brum at second, ending the inning, and the Guac Boys led by three runs.

Shady Characters bounced back in the top of the fourth. Tom hit a one-out double, and Jason drove him in with a two-run blast to right, cutting the score to 4-3. Brum retired Lucas for the second out of the inning, and the Guac Boys lead had been shaved to a run.

Sean led off the bottom of the fourth with a triple, and Bohn drove him in with an RBI single, pushing the score to 5-3. Lucas retired the next two batters, Alec and Brum, to strand Bohn at first, ending the inning.

Brum retired the side in order in the top of the fifth, and the Guac Boys would add insurance runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Shady Characters tried a platoon switch, bringing lefty Dylan in to face left Kyle. Kyle hit a triple, and Dylan was replaced on the mound by Lucas. Lucas gave up an RBI double to Sean, and the Guac Boys led 6-3. Two batters later, Alec hit a one-out two-run homer to center, putting the Guac Boys in front 8-3. Brum then singled, but Lucas stranded him at second, retiring Kyle for the second out of the inning.

Brum allowed a solo homer to Mike to start the top of the sixth, cutting the Guac Boys lead to 8-4. The rally would end there though, as Brum retired Tom and Jason to end the inning and the game, giving the Guac Boys an 8-4 win.

The win moved the Guac Boys to 8-10 on the season, and the loss dropped Shady Characters to 15-3.

Guac Boys Come From Behind to Beat Jack Shack 7-5

Kyle led the Guac Boys with a single, a homer, two runs scored, and two RBI, as they beat Jack Shack 7-5 and took sole possession of second place in the 2022 season standings with three games to go

Trailing 5-3 early in the game, the Guac Boys shut down Jack Shack for the final four innings and scored four unanswered runs to pull ahead and win 7-5. Bohn pitched the complete game win and had two hits, Kyle and Alec each had two hits, and former All-EWL winner Sean drove in three of the Guac Boys runs in his return to the Wiffle Diamond. Rob, Adam, and Josh each had two hits for Jack Shack in the loss, and with the win the Guac Boys pulled into sole possession of second place in the season standings.

Bohn took the mound for the Guac Boys, and he got into trouble early. After retiring the game’s first batter, Rob, he allowed a one-out single to Adam. Josh followed with a double, and Adam scored from third on the play to put Jack Shack up 1-0. Jared then hit a two-run shot to center, making the score 3-0. Bohn retired Brian for the second out of the inning, and the Guac Boys trailed by three.

Josh started for Jack Shack, and he got in a hole early. Austin led off the bottom of the first with a double, and he scored from second when Bohn followed with an RBI single that made the score 3-1. Two batters later, Kyle hit a one-out two-run homer to right, tying the game at 3-3. Josh then retired Alec for the second out of the inning.

Jack Shack pulled back in front in the top of the second. Rob singled and moved from first to third when Adam followed with a single. Josh then doubled, scoring Rob, and Jack Shack led 4-3. Bohn got Jared to ground out to center for the first out of the inning, but Adam scored on the play, pushing the Jack Shack lead to 5-3. Bohn then retired Brian to strand Josh at third, ending the inning, and Jack Shack led by two.

Sean led off the bottom of the second with a solo homer, cutting the deficit to 5-4. Josh retired the next two batters, Austin and Bohn, to end the inning.

After allowing five runs over the first two innings, Bohn got on a roll in the top of the third. He retired Rob and Adam in order, and the Guac Boys continued to trail by a run.

The Guac Boys tied things up in the bottom of the third when Brum led off the inning with a solo homer. Two batters later, Josh allowed a one-out double to Alec, but he stranded him, retiring Sean to end the inning with the game tied at 5-5.

Bohn once again cruised in the top of the fourth, retiring Josh and Jared in order.

Rob singled with one out in the top of the fifth, but Jack Shack couldn’t advance him. Bohn retired Adam to strand the runner at first, ending the inning.

Kyle led off the bottom of the fifth with a single, and he moved from first to third when Alec followed with a single. Sean hit Guac Boys’ third consecutive single, and both runners scored on the play, giving the Guac Boys their first lead of the game. Josh retired the next two batters to strand Sean at first and end the inning, but the Guac Boys had taken a 7-5 lead.

Bohn made quick work of Jack Shack in the top of the sixth. He retired Josh and Jared in order, finishing the game by retiring ten of the final eleven batters he faced, giving the Guac Boys the 7-5 win.

The win moved the Guac Boys to 7-10 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 6-11.

Tom Pitches Gem and Goes Deep Against Cheap Goats in 4-1 Shady Characters Win

Tom allowed only one run on eight hits in a complete game win and hit a two-run homer as Shady Characters quieted the Cheap Goats offense in a 4-1 win

Tom pitched the complete game win, allowing only one run on eight hits, and he hit a two-run homer as Shady Characters beat Cheap Goats 4-1. Mike was the only Shady Characters player with multiple hits, going 3-for-3 with a single, a double, and a homer, but it was enough run support for Tom. Miller, Joey, and Christian each had two hits, but despite being outhit as a team, Shady Characters stranded runners throughout the game and allowed only a single run in the win.

Dinger started for Cheap Goats, and after retiring the first batter he faced, Dylan, he allowed a one-out solo homer to Mike. Dinger retired Tom for the second, out, and Shady Characters led 1-0.

Tom rolled through the bottom of the first, retiring the side in order.

Dinger retired Jason and Lucas in order in the top of the second, and the score remained 1-0.

Mike then gunned the ball into the mound, catching Joe off of first base for a double play. Cheap Goats had the bases loaded with no outs, but Tom escaped the jam unscathed, and Shady Characters continued to lead 1-0.

Mike started the top of the fourth with a double, and Tom followed with a two-run bomb to right-center. Dinger retired the next two batters, Jason and Lucas, and Shady Characters had pulled ahead 3-0.

Christian led off the bottom of the fourth with a double. Tom stranded another Cheap Goats runner, however, getting Dinger and Miller to each fly out, maintaining the three-run lead.

Nate led off the top of the fifth with a single, and he moved to third when Dylan followed with a single. With no outs and runners on the corners, Mike singled, scoring Nate to put Shady Characters in front 4-0. Dinger avoided further damage, retiring Tom and Jason to strand two runners on base.

Cheap Goats got on the board in the bottom of the fifth. With one out, Joey doubled, and Christian followed with his second double of the game, scoring Joey. The rally would end there, however, as Tom struck out Dinger to strand Christian, ending the inning with the score 4-1.

Lucas led off the top of the sixth with a double, but Shady Characters couldn’t add an insurance run. Dinger retired Nate and Dylan, stranding Lucas at second and ending the inning.

Down three in the bottom of the sixth, Cheap Goats continued to strand runners. Miller led off the inning with a double, but Tom buckled down, retiring Joe and Joey to strand Miller at second, ending the game and giving Shady Characters the 4-1 win.
