A six-run bottom of the second highlighted by two-run homers by Tim, Dan and Kessler propelled the Ham Slams to a big lead and a 7-2 win over Cookies & Cream, as they continued to make a move toward second place in the league standings.
Josh, fresh off a shutout of Eastbound & Dahn, took the mound for the Slams. The first batter he faced, Guthrie, blasted a leadoff homer to left, and Cookies & Cream led 1-0. Blose followed with a single, but Josh avoided a big inning, retiring Joey and striking out Dinger to end the inning.
The Ham Slams evened things up in the bottom of the first, hitting Cookies & Cream’s starter Guthrie early. Josh led off the inning with a triple, and he scored when Tim followed with an RBI double that tied the game at 1-1. Dan followed with a double to put runners on second and third, and it looked as if the Ham Slams would pull ahead. Guthrie buckled down, however, and retired Kessler and Josh consecutively, ending the inning and stranding two Ham Slams.
Josh rolled through the top of the second, retiring Jordan and Guthrie in order. His offense would get to work in the bottom of the second.
Tim started the inning with a double, and the next batter, Dan, crushed a two-run bomb to center, putting the Ham Slams ahead 3-1. Kessler then singled, and two batters later, Tim hit a two-run shot to right, and the Slams were up 5-1. Dan continued the inning with a double, and Kessler became the third Ham Slam to hit a two-run homer in the inning, as his blast extended the lead to 7-1. Guthrie finally got Josh to fly out and end the inning, but the damage had been done.

Joey hit a one-out single in the top of the third, but Cookies couldn’t cut into the Ham Slams lead, as Josh retired Dinger to end the inning. After getting shelled in the third, Guthrie got things back in order in the bottom of the third, retiring the side in order.
Guthrie hit a one-out double in the top of the fourth, but once again Josh stranded a Cookies runner, getting Blose to fly out to end the inning. Guthrie allowed a one-out double to Josh in the bottom of the fourth, but the Ham Slams couldn’t extend their lead, as Tim was retired to strand the runner.

Joey led off the top of the fifth with a double, and he moved to third on a Dinger sacrifice fly. Jordan then singled, scoring Joey and making the score 7-2. Guthrie followed with a single, and Cookies & Cream had runners on first and second, but Josh stranded two more runners, getting Blose to fly out to center to end the inning.
Guthrie rolled through the bottom of the fifth, getting Dan and Kessler to go down consecutively.
Heading into the top of the sixth, Cookies trailed 7-2. Josh made things quick for the Slams, retiring Joey and Dinger in order, ending the inning and the game.
The win moved the Ham Slams to 5-4 on the year, and Cookies & Cream’s fourth consecutive loss made their record 5-4.
