Guac Boys Rally in Top of Sixth to Stun Jack Shack 2-1

Alec’s RBI double tied the game in the top of the sixth, and he scored the winning run on Bohn’s RBI single as Guac Boys stunned Jack Shack 2-1

Through five innings, the Guac Boys had been shutout with only three hits and a single base runner advancing beyond first base. Jack Shack led 1-0 and were riding a great pitching and defensive performance to what would be their first win of the season. Guac Boys rallied, however, stringing together more hits in the sixth inning than they had accumulated all game, scoring two runs, and taking a 2-1 lead that they closed out in the bottom of the sixth. Alec’s RBI double tied the game, and he scored the game-winning run on Bohn’s one-out RBI single, with Jan closing out the game on the mound in the bottom half of the inning for a Guac Boys win.

Jon D started for Jack Shack, and he retired Jan and Alec in order in the top of the first.

Bohn took the mound for Guac Boys, and he matched Jon in the bottom half of the inning, striking out Josh to start the game and retiring Jon M to end the inning.

Bohn hit a one-out single in the top of the second, but Jon D stranded him, retiring Tone to end the inning.

Bohn cruised through the bottom of the second, retiring Jacob and Ryan in order, and he had met his innings limit for the week.

Jon D continued to cruise in the top of the third, retiring Jude and Jan in order, and the game remaining scoreless.

Jon D drove in Jack Shack’s only run with an RBI double and was effective on the mound in a complete game outing

Jan came to the mound in relief of Bohn in the bottom of the third, and after allowing a one-out double to Josh, he retired Jon M to strand the runner at second, and the score was 0-0 through three innings.

Form hit a one-out double in the top of the fourth, but Jon D stranded him, retiring Bohn for the second out.

Jack Shack broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth. Jacob led off with a double, and two batters later, Jon D hit a one-out RBI double to score him, putting Jack Shack ahead 1-0. Jan retired Josh to strand Jon D at second, and Guac Boys trailed by a run.

Tone led off the top of the fifth with a single, but he was doubled up when Jude grounded out, and the double play ended the inning.

Jon M singled to lead off the bottom of the fifth, but Jack Shack couldn’t advance him for an insurance run, as Jan retired Jacob and Ryan to end the inning.

Down a run, and having only managed three hits through five innings, Guac Boys rallied in the top of the sixth. Jon D remained on the mound to close things out and he got into trouble early in the inning. Jan led off the top of the sixth with a triple, putting the tying run on third with no outs. Alec took advantage, hitting an RBI double to score Jan, tying the game at 1-1. Jon D retired Form, but the go-ahead runner advanced to third. Bohn followed with a one-out single, scoring Alec, and Guac Boys had taken a 2-1 lead. Tone followed with a single, but Bohn was caught in between bases on the play, ending the inning.

Jack Shack would need a run to send the game to extra innings. Jan retired Jon D to start the bottom of the sixth, but Jack Shack would threaten Guac Boys. Josh singled, and he moved from first to third when Jon M followed with a single. The tying run was on third and the go-ahead runner was on first, but Jan cracked down. He retired Jacob to strand both runners, ending the inning and the game, as Guac Boys shocked Jack Shack 2-1 with a come-from-behind victory in the sixth inning.

The win moved Guac Boys to 3-1 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 0-4.
