Guac Boys Ride Big Early Lead to 12-3 Win Over Cheap Goats

After a thrilling season opening win over Jack Shack, Guac Boys rode a wave of momentum into their second game, going up 10-0 early and later defeating Cheap Goats 12-3. Bohn followed his eight-for-eight season opener by going 5-for-7 with four singles and a three-run homer, as Guac Boys started the 2025 season 2-0.

Christian took the mound for Cheap Goats, and he had a disastrous first frame. Alec led off with a triple, and Tone followed with an RBI single, scoring Alec to put Guac Boys up 1-0. Bohn singled to put runners on first and second, and Form cleared the bases with an RBI double, making the score 3-0. Alec then singled, scoring Form from second, and the lead was 4-0. Tone singled, putting runners on the corners, and Bohn crushed a three-run homer to right-center, giving Guac Boys a 7-0 lead. The first seven Guac Boys batters had all reached base and scored to open the game. Christian recorded the first out, getting Form to groundout to center, and after allowing a one-out single to Alec, he retired Tone to strand the runner and end the inning.

Bohn started for Guac Boys, and he rolled through the bottom of the first, retiring Joey and Courtlen in order.

Bohn led off the top of the second with a single, and he moved from first to third when Form singled. Alec then singled, scoring Bohn, and Guac Boys led 8-0. Tone singled, scoring Form, and the lead was 9-0. After five consecutive singles to start the inning, Form grounded out to center for the first out, but Alec scored on the play, putting Cheap Goats in a 10-0 hole. Christian then got Alec to groundout to left, stranding two runners and ending the inning.

Christian started the bottom of the second with a single, but when Dinger followed with a single, Christian was caught out on the basepaths for the first out of the inning. Bohn then retired Kevin to strand Dinger at first, ending the inning.

After two rough innings to start the game, Christian settled in, retiring Tone and Bohn in order in the top of the third.

Bohn had reached his innings limit for the week, and Tone entered the game from the bullpen in the bottom of the third. He retired Joey and Courtlen in order, and the score remained 10-0.

Form led off the top of the fourth with a single, but Christian stranded him, retiring Alec and Tone to end the inning.

Tone rolled through the bottom of the fourth, sending Christian and Dinger down in order, and Cheap Goats did not have a baserunner advance past first base through four innings.

Christian was once again effective in the top of the fifth, retiring Bohn and Form in order, and Guac Boys continued to lead 10-0.

Cheap Goats finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Kevin singled, but was caught out when Joey followed with a double. Courtlen singled, putting runners on first and third with one out. Christian hit an RBI double, scoring Joey, and Cheap Goats trailed 10-1. Tone then struck out Dinger, stranding two Cheap Goats runners, and ending the inning.

Guac Boys made up the run and added an insurance run in the top of the sixth. Alec led off with a triple, his second of the game, and Tone drove him in with an RBI single, extending the Guac Boys lead to 11-1. Bohn then singled, putting runners on first and second with no outs. Christian got Form to groundout to left, but Tone scored from second on the play, pushing the score to 12-1. Christian then retired Alec, stranding Bohn at second, and ending the inning.

Kevin started the bottom of the sixth with a double, and two batters later, Courtlen hit a two-run homer to right-center, cutting the Guac Boys lead to 12-3. The rally would end there, however, as Bohn retired Christian for the second out, ending the inning and the game, and giving Guac Boys a 12-3 win.

The win moved Guac Boys to 2-0 on the year, and the loss dropped Cheap Goats to 0-2.

Bohn Leads Guac Boys to 16-15 Shootout Win Over Jack Shack in Season Opener

In one of the most exciting and highest scoring Opening Day games in EWL history, the Guac Boys came-from-behind and held off a furious Jack Shack rally in the bottom of the sixth to win 16-15. Leading 16-8 heading into the final frame, the Guac Boys gave up seven runs before making the final two outs to end the game and hang on to win a thriller. Bohn was electric to start the season, going a perfect 8-for-8 with four singles, three doubles, a home run, seven runs scored, and four RBI, in addition to earning the win on the mound. Jon had seven hits, including three home runs, and Ryan hit for the cycle for the third time in his career in the Jack Shack loss.

Mack took the mound for Jack Shack, and he escaped trouble early. After retiring Alec to start the game, he allowed back-to-back singles to Tone and Bohn to put two on with one out. He got out of the jam, however, retiring Form to strand both runners, ending the inning.

Jack Shack took an early lead in the bottom of the first. Josh led off with a double, and he moved to third when Mack followed with a single. With no outs and runners on the corners, Ryan doubled, scoring Josh, and Jack Shack led 1-0. Bohn, Guac Boys’ starter, got Donati to ground out for the first out of the inning, but Mack scored on the play, pushing the Jack Shack lead to 2-0. Bohn then retired Josh to end the inning, stranding Ryan.

Guac Boys bounced back and took their first lead in the top of the second. Tone hit a one-out double, and Bohn drove him in with an RBI double, making the score 2-1. Form followed with a two-run homer, and Guac Boys led 3-2. Alec then doubled, but Mack avoided further damage, retiring Tone to strand the runner at second, and Jack Shack trailed by a run.

Jack Shack would tie the game in the bottom of the second. Mack singled, and he moved from first to third when Ryan followed with a single. With no outs and runners on first and third, Donati grounded out, but for the second consecutive inning, he drove in a run while recording an out, and Mack scored on the play. Bohn fanned Josh to strand Ryan, ending the inning, and the score was tied 3-3.

Guac Boys reclaimed the lead in the top of the third. Bohn singled, and two batters later, Alec hit an RBI single to score him, putting Guac Boys in front 4-3. Mack retired Tone to strand Alec at first, ending the inning.

Jack Shack bounced back and pulled ahead in the bottom of the third. Mack led off the inning with a solo homer, tying the game at 4-4. Ryan singled, and Donati followed with a two-run shot, giving Jack Shack a 6-4 lead. Two batters later, with one out, Mack hit his second solo bomb of the inning, putting Jack Shack in front 7-4. Bohn retired Ryan to end the inning, and Jack Shack led by three runs.

Guac Boys chipped into the Jack Shack lead in the top of the fourth. Bohn doubled, and he scored from second when Form grounded out for the first out of the inning. Mack retired Alec to end the inning, and Guac Boys trailed 7-5.

Jack Shack got the run back in the bottom of the fourth when Donati led off the inning with a solo shot, his second homer in as many at-bats, and Jack Shack led 8-5. Bohn struck out Josh, and after allowing a one-out single to Mack, he retired Ryan to strand him, ending the inning, and Guac Boys were behind by two runs.

Down 8-5, Guac Boys stormed ahead in the top of the fifth with a huge inning. Tone led off the inning with a double, and he moved to third when Bohn followed with a single. Form singled, scoring Tone, and the Jack Shack lead was cut to 8-6. Alec cleared the bases with a three-run bomb, and Guac Boys once again led by the score of 9-8. Tone singled, and Bohn followed with a two-run shot, extending the lead to 11-8. Form followed with a solo homer, and the back-to-back jacks put Guac Boys in front 12-8. Mack retired Alec and Tone to end the inning, but Guac Boys had scored seven runs in the top of the fifth to go from trailing by three runs to leading by four.

Bohn cruised through the bottom of the fifth, retiring Donati and Josh in order, and the score remained 12-8.

Guac Boys padded their lead in the top of the sixth. Bohn led off with a single and moved to second when Form followed with a single. Two batters later, with one out, Tone hit an RBI single to score Bohn, and Guac Boys led 13-8. Bohn then doubled, scoring Form, and the lead was 14-8. Form cleared the bases with an RBI single that scored two runs, and Guac Boys had a 16-8 lead. Mack finally escaped the inning, retiring Alec to strand Form at first, and Jack Shack trailed 16-8 heading into their final at-bat.

Mack led off the bottom of the sixth with his third solo homer of the game, cutting the score to 16-9. Ryan tripled, and Donati followed with a double, but Ryan couldn’t score on the play. With no outs and two runners in scoring position, Josh singled, scoring Ryan, and the score was 16-10. Mack cleared the bases with an RBI single, scoring Donati and Josh, and Jack Shack had cut the Guac Boys lead to 16-12. Ryan followed with a two-run homer, giving him the cycle, and Jack Shack had cut the Guac Boys lead to only two runs at 16-14. Donati doubled, and he scored from second when Josh followed with an RBI single. The first eight Jack Shack batters had reached base safely in the bottom of the sixth, with seven of them scoring runs, and they had reduced Guac Boys lead from 16-8 to 16-15, with no outs. Bohn was reeling, but the miraculous Jack Shack rally would end there. He retired Mack and Ryan to strand Josh on base, ending the inning and the game, and Guac Boys narrowly held on to win their season opener 16-15.

Tom’s Walk-Off Two Run Homer Gives Shady Characters 6-5 Win Over Cheap Goats in Season Opener

Four-time defending champions Shady Characters only led once in their season-opening matchup with Cheap Goats, but when they took the lead, it was with a walk-off two-run homer by Tom, continuing a multi-season run of clutch late-game hits. Trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth and having trailed the entire game, 2024 Wiffler of the Year Thomas singled, putting the tying run on base and the winning run at the plate. Tom capitalized, crushing a two-run homer to right-center, giving Shady Characters a dramatic win and an impressive start to their campaign to become the first team in league history to five-peat.

Tom took the mound for Shady Characters and the first batter he faced, Joey, doubled. Two batters later, Christian hit a one-out RBI single to score Joey, and Cheap Goats led 1-0. Tom then retired Dinger to end the inning, stranding Christian at first.

Dinger started for Cheap Goats, and after allowing a leadoff single to Bobby, he retired Thomas and Tom to strand the runner, ending the inning.

Joey hit a one-out double in the top of the second, and Courtlen followed with an RBI double to score him, putting Cheap Goats ahead 2-0. Christian then singled, scoring Courtlen, and the lead was 3-0. Tom retired Dinger to strand Christian at first, ending the inning, and Shady Characters trailed by three runs.

Billy hit a one-out triple in the bottom of the second, but Dinger stranded him, retiring Thomas to end the inning, maintaining a three-run lead.

With one out in the top of the third, Joey doubled for the third consecutive inning and at-bat, but Tom avoided further damage, retiring Courtlen to strand him at third, ending the inning.

Dinger rolled through the bottom of the third, retiring Tom and Lucas in order, and Cheap Goats led 3-0 through three innings.

Christian doubled to lead off the top of the fourth, but Tom once again stranded a Cheap Goats runner. He struck out Dinger and then retired Kevin, and the Cheap Goats lead remained 3-0.

Billy led off the bottom of the fourth with a single, and Thomas put Shady Characters on the board with a two-run homer to make the score 3-2. Dinger retired Tom and Lucas to end the inning, and Shady Characters had cut the Cheap Goats lead to a run.

Joey led off the top of the fifth with a solo homer, putting Cheap Goats ahead 4-2. Courtlen followed with a single, but Tom stranded another Cheap Goats runner, retiring Christian and Dinger to end the inning.

Shady Characters continued to chip away at the Cheap Goats lead in the bottom of the fifth. Billy led off with a double, and for the second consecutive inning, Thomas hit a two-run homer, tying the game at 4-4. Dinger retired the next two batters, Tom and Lucas, to end the inning, and heading into the sixth inning, the game was tied.

Tom retired Kevin to start the top of the sixth, but Joey followed with his second solo shot in as many at-bats, putting Cheap Goats back in front 5-4. Courtlen singled, and he moved from first to third when Christian followed with a double. Cheap Goats had two runners on and a chance to add a few insurance runs, but once again, Tom stranded runners. He retired Dinger, leaving two on, and Shady Characters trailed by a run heading into their final at-bat.

Dinger retired Billy to start the bottom of the sixth, and Cheap Goats were an out away from a win. Thomas followed with a single, putting the tying run on base and the winning run at the plate. Like he has time and again over the last several seasons, Tom came to the plate, and despite going 0-for-4 to start the game, he came through in the clutch. He launched a home run to right-center, and his walk-off shot ended the game, giving Shady Characters a dramatic 6-5 win.

The win moved Shady Characters to 1-0 on the season, and the loss dropped Cheap Goats to 0-1.
