Jack Shack broke open a back-and-forth contest with a nine-run second inning and then survived a Shady Characters comeback attempt to earn a 12-8 victory. Jon D earned the complete-game win and had three RBI singles, and Josh, Jon M, and Dave each contributed four hits, snapping Jack Shack’s two-game losing streak.
Tom K started on the mound for Shady Characters, and Jack Shack struck first in the top of the opening inning. Josh singled and Jon M followed with another base hit to put two runners on with no outs. Jacob then grounded out, but Josh scored on the play to give Jack Shack a 1-0 lead. Jon D grounded out to end the inning, stranding Jon M.
Jon D took the mound for Jack Shack, and Shady Characters answered immediately. Zach led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run, tying the game at 1-1. Two batters later, Billy connected for a solo homer of his own, giving Shady Characters a 2-1 lead. Tom K grounded out to end the inning.
Jack Shack exploded in the top of the second with one of the biggest innings of the season so far. Dave and Josh opened the inning with consecutive singles before Jon M flew out. Jacob drove in Dave with an RBI single, tying the game at 2-2. Jon D followed with an RBI single to score Josh, giving Jack Shack a 3-2 lead. Dave then delivered an RBI double, scoring two, and Jack Shack led 5-2. Josh added an RBI double, scoring Dave, and the score was 6-2. Jon M followed with an RBI single to score Josh as the lead continued to grow to 7-2. Jacob singled, and Jon D followed with a two-RBI single, scoring Jon M and Jacob to push the Jack Shack advantage to 9-2. Dave followed with a RBI triple, scoring Jon D, and Jack Shack had taken a 10-2 lead. By the time Josh grounded out to end the inning, Jack Shack had scored nine runs, powered by eight consecutive hits, and Shady Characters trailed by eight runs early.
Lucas singled in the bottom of the second, but Jon D stranded him, retiring Nate and Zach to preserve the eight-run advantage.
Jon M flew out to begin the top of the third before Jacob tripled. Jon D drove him in with an RBI single to make the score 11-2. Dave followed with another single, but Josh was retired, to strand the runner, ending the inning.
Shady Characters mounted a response in the bottom of the third. Thomas doubled and Billy singled to put two runners aboard. Tom K then crushed a three-run homer, clearing the bases and cutting the deficit to 11-5. Lucas followed with a double, and after Nate struck out, Zach launched a two-run homer, bringing Shady Characters within four runs at 11-7. Thomas grounded out to end the inning, and the game had suddenly tightened.
Jon M led off the top of the fourth with a triple, but Tom K stranded him there, striking out Jacob and retiring Jon D to keep the deficit at four runs.
Billy opened the bottom of the fourth with a solo homer, his second of the game, cutting the lead to 11-8. Jon D avoided a bigger Shady Characters’ rally, retiring Tom K and Lucas to end the inning.
Dave grounded out to begin the top of the fifth before Josh doubled. Jon M followed with an RBI single, pushing the Jack Shack lead back to four runs at 12-8. Jacob grounded out to end the inning.
Nate grounded out to begin the bottom of the fifth before Zach doubled. Jon D escaped the threat by retiring Thomas, keeping the four-run cushion intact.
Jon D flew out and Dave grounded out in a quick top of the sixth.
Shady Characters had one final opportunity in the bottom of the sixth. Billy and Tom K both singled, putting two on with no outs, but Lucas and Nate both grounded out to end the game as Jack Shack secured the 12-8 victory.
The win moved Jack Shack to 3-4 on the season while Shady Characters fell to 2-5.

He led off the bottom of the first with a homer, his fourth lead off home run in the first seven games of the 2026 season, and the fifth leadoff homer of his career. Billy went 4-for-4 with two singles, two home runs, three runs scored, and two RBI.
