Cheap Goats celebrate at the plate as Joey scores one of a franchise-record twenty-four runs in their record-breaking 24-9 victory over Jack Shack

Cheap Goats unleashed the most dominant offensive performance of the 2023 season, pummeling Jack Shack 24-9. Joey had nine hits, including an EWL single-game record six doubles, Miller tied the single-game EWL record for home runs with five, and Dinger hit for the cycle for the second time in his EWL career. Cheap Goats scored nine runs in the first inning and ten runs in the sixth inning, breaking their franchise record for runs scored in a single game.

Josh took the mound for Jack Shack, and Cheap Goats crushed him immediately. Joey led off the game with a double, and Miller followed with a two-run homer, putting Cheap Goats up 2-0. Josh retired Christian for the first out of the inning, and the next seven consecutive batters reached base safely. Dinger doubled, and Joey drove him in with an RBI double, making the score 3-0. Miller then doubled, scoring Joey, and Jack Shack trailed 4-0. Christian followed with Cheap Goats’ fourth consecutive double, which scored Miller, extending the lead to 5-0. Jack Shack rallied in the bottom of the second, making the game interesting. Josh led off the inning with a solo homer, which made the score 9-3. Ryan doubled, and Jon followed with a two-run shot, his second homer of the game, cutting the Cheap Goats lead to 9-5. Jared followed with a homer, making the score 9-6, and Brian also hit a solo homer, narrowing the deficit to 9-7. Josh also homered, and the back-to-back-to-back-to-back homers had trimmed a nine-run Cheap Goats lead to one. Jack Shack had scored eight unanswered runs, including six runs without recording an out in the bottom of the second, and the score was 9-8. Cheap Goats turned to the bullpen, bringing Christian to the mound. He retired the first two batters he faced, Ryan and Jon, to end the inning, and Cheap Goats led by a run.

After the rough first inning, Josh continued to pitch effectively into the third inning. He retired Christian and Dinger in order, and Jack Shack continued to trail by a run.

Christian matched Josh in the bottom of the third, sending Jared and Ryan down in order.

Cheap Goats got a few runs back in the top of the fourth. Joey led off the inning with a triple, and Miller drove him in with an RBI triple, making the score 10-8. Josh got Christian to ground out for the first out of the inning, but Miller scored on the play, and Cheap Goats led 11-8. Josh retired Dinger for the second out of the inning, and Jack Shack were down three runs.

Josh led off the bottom of the fourth with a triple, and he scored when Christian got Ryan to ground out for the first out of the inning. Christian then retired Jon to end the inning, and the score was 11-9 through four innings.

Cheap Goats once again added to their lead in the top of the fifth. Joey started the inning with a solo homer, which made the score 12-9. Miller followed with his third home run of the contest, and the back-to-back bombs gave Cheap Goats a 13-9 lead. Christian followed with a single, but he was caught out trying to extend the hit into a double. Dinger then hit a one-out solo shot, and Cheap Goats led 14-9. Josh retired Joey for the first time in the game for the second out of the inning, and Cheap Goats were in front by five runs.

Miller was dominant from both sides of the plate, tying the single-game EWL record for home runs with five and driving in a career-high eleven runs in the Cheap Goats win

Jared singled to start the bottom of the fifth, but Jack Shack couldn’t rally. Christian retired Brian and Josh to strand the runner at first, ending the inning.

Cheap Goats came into the top of the sixth leading by five runs, and they not only added a few insurance runs, they opened up a fifteen run lead. Josh struck out Miller to start the inning, and the next twelve Cheap Goats batters reached base safely. Christian hit a one-out double, and he scored from second when Dinger followed with an RBI single, putting Cheap Goats ahead 15-9. Joey then doubled, his fifth double of the game, tying the EWL single-game record. Dinger scored on the play, and Jack Shack trailed 16-9. Miller followed with a two-run bomb, tying his career-high with four home runs, and the score was 18-9. Christian hit a solo shot, and the score was 19-9. Dinger singled, and Joey hit his second blast of the game, a two-run homer that put Cheap Goats ahead 21-9. Miller made it back-to-back, tying the EWL single-game record with his fifth home run of the game, and the score was 22-9. Christian hit his third double of the game, and Dinger drove him in with an RBI triple that completed the second cycle of his long wiffle career and extended the Cheap Goats lead to 23-9. Joey followed with his sixth double of the game, breaking the single-game record for doubles, the third EWL record book entry in the last four Cheap Goats at-bats. Dinger scored on the play, and Cheap Goats had taken a 24-9 lead. Miller came to the plate with a chance to break the single-game record for home runs with his sixth bomb, but Josh retired him and got out of his second punishing inning of the game, ending the inning.

Dinger hit for the cycle for the second time in his storied EWL career, going 6-for-9 with three singles, a double, a triple, and a homer

Dinger returned to the mound in the bottom of the sixth to close things out for Cheap Goats, and he made quick work of Jack Shack. He retired Ryan and Jon in order, ending the inning and the game, as Cheap Goats won 24-9.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 7-8 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 4-11.

Shady Characters celebrate at the plate after Nate’s walkoff homer ended a dramatic 12-11 comeback win

Shady Characters went back-and-forth with the Guac Boys for six innings and walked off with one of the most epic wins in recent memory. Trailing 11-7 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Shady Characters stormed from behind as Lucas hit a three-run homer to cut the score to 11-10, Dylan hit a solo homer to tie the game, and Nate completed back-to-back-to-back homers with a walkoff solo homer to win the game. Dylan, Nate, and Lucas each homered twice, and Shady Characters picked up yet another dramatic win, extending their lead atop the league standings.

Tom started for Shady Characters, and after retiring Alec to start the game, he allowed a one-out triple to Brum. Jude followed with an RBI single, and the Guac Boys led 1-0. Tom then struck out Jan, ending the inning.

Shady Characters bounced back in the bottom of the first. Alec, Guac Boys’ starter, retired Dylan to start the inning before allowing consecutive singles to Nate and Tom. Jason then hit an RBI triple, clearing the bases, and Shady Characters had taken a 2-1 lead. Lucas followed with a two-run homer, which made the score 4-1. Dylan followed with a solo shot, and the back-to-back jacks put Shady Characters in front 5-1. Alec then retired Nate to end the inning, and the Guac Boys trailed by four runs.

Tom led off the bottom of the second with a solo homer, making the score 6-2. Alec then retired Jason and Lucas to end the inning.

Tone singled with one out in the top of the third, and Alec followed with a two-run homer, narrowing the Shady Characters lead to 6-4. Tom then retired Brum to end the inning.

Alec retired Dylan to start the bottom of the third, and the next batter, Nate, hit a solo shot to right, putting Shady Characters ahead 7-4. Alec then retired Tom for the second out of the inning.

Tom rolled through the top of the fourth, sending Jude and Jan down in order.

The Guac Boys rallied in the top of the fifth, reclaiming the lead. Tone doubled to start the inning, and he moved to third when Alec followed with a single. Brum hit an RBI single, scoring both runners, and the Guac Boys trailed 7-6. Jude singled to put runners on the corners, and when Jan grounded out for the first out of the inning, Brum scored from third, tying the game at 7-7. Tone then singled, scoring Jude, and the Guac Boys had pulled ahead 8-7. Tom retired Alec for the second out of the inning, but the Guac Boys had a one run lead.

Alec once again cruised in the bottom of the fifth, retiring Dylan and Nate in order.

The Guac Boys would extend their lead with a few insurance runs in the top of the sixth. Brum doubled, and Jude followed with a two-run homer, making the score 10-7. Jan then homered, and the back-to-back homers put the Guac Boys in front 11-7. Tone followed with a single, but when Alec flew out to the mound, Tone was doubled up, ending the inning.

Shady Characters trailed by four heading into the bottom of the seventh. Tom led off the inning with a single, and he moved to second when Jason followed with a single. Lucas cleared the bases with a three-run blast, cutting the Guac Boys lead to 11-10. Dylan followed with a solo homer, tying the game at 11-11. No stranger to late game heroics in 2023, Nate came to the plate and hit a monster walkoff homer to right-center, and Shady Characters had hit three consecutive home runs to win the game 12-11.

Dylan returned to the wiffle diamond in week 8 and went 2-for-5 with two solo homers, one of which came during Shady Characters’ three consecutive homers in the bottom of the sixth

The win moved Shady Characters to 12-3, and the loss dropped the Guac Boys to 7-8.

Jason of Shady Characters Named Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week

Jason continued to leave an indelible mark on the 2023 season and the EWL record book, crushing opposing pitchers in week 7 and powering Shady Characters to a commanding lead in the season standings. After tying the single-game home run record for the second time this season and standing alone as the only player in the last five years to hit five homers in a game, Jason was voted Wiffler of the Week for week 7 of the 2023 season.

In a 7-6 win over Jack Shack, Jason went 3-for-6 with a single, two home runs, two runs scored, and two RBI.

In a 20-12 win over Cheap Goats, Jason had one of the best games in EWL history, going 7-for-8 with a single, a double, five home runs, six runs scored, and nine RBI.

Jason joined Bob as one of the only two players in EWL history to hit five home runs in a game twice.

In total, Jason went 10-for-14 with two singles, a double, seven home runs, eight runs scored, and eleven RBI.

This is the sixth time Jason has been voted Wiffler of the Week in his wiffle career. He was voted Wiffler of the Week earlier this season after a historic performance in week 4, and he also earned the honor three times in 2022 and twice in 2021.

Guac Boys Erupt for Ten-Run Inning, Rout Jack Shack 17-1

Alec led a dominant Guac Boys performance, going 5-for-6 with two triples, three home runs, and eight RBI in a blowout 17-1 win over Jack Shack

The Guac Boys scored ten runs in the top of the first and never looked back, destroying Jack Shack 17-1 in a dominant offensive and defensive performance. Bohn pitched a complete game win, allowing only one run on five hits, Alec had five extra-base hits which included three homers and two triples, and Tone went 5-for-5 with a career-high three bombs in one of the most lopsided games of the 2023 season.

Jack Shack got off to a hot start in the top of the first when Ryan led off the game with a homer, giving Jack Shack a 1-0, but also, the only run they would score in the contest. Jon later singled with one out, but Bohn stranded him, retiring Brian to end the inning.

Ryan led off the top of the first with a homer, his fourth leadoff homer of the year

Bohn would get all of the run support he would need, and more, in the bottom of the first. He singled to start the inning, and Alec put the Guac Boys up for good in the second at-bat of the inning. His two-run homer made the score 2-1, and the offensive explosion continued from there. Jack Shack’s starter, Josh, then allowed a homer to Brum, and the back-to-back jacks made the score 3-1. Form doubled, and he moved to third when Tone followed with a single. Two batters later, Alec cleared the bases with his second homer of the inning, a three-run shot that gave the Guac Boys a 6-1 lead. Brum singled, and Form hit a two-run homer to center, extending the lead to 8-1. Tone then homered, and the second pair of consecutive home runs in the inning made the score 9-1. Bohn singled, and Jack Shack turned to the bullpen, bringing Ryan to the mound. The first batter he faced, Alec, his an RBI triple, scoring Bohn, and the Guac Boys lead was 10-1. Ryan retired Brum for the second out of the inning, stranding Alec, but Jack Shack trailed by nine runs after an inning.

Form then homered, and the Guac Boys led 13-1. Tone followed with his third solo shot in as many at-bats, and the lead was 14-1. Bohn followed with a solo homer, and the back-to-back-to-back home runs put the Guac Boys in front 15-1. Ryan retired Alec to end the inning, and Jack Shack were behind by fourteen runs.

Tone had the best game of his wiffle career, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two singles, three solo homers, and five runs scored

Brian tripled to lead off the top of the fifth, but Jack Shack couldn’t cut into the deficit. Bohn retired Ryan and Josh to strand the runner at third, and the score remained 15-1.

The Guac Boys added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth. Tone led off the inning with a single, and two batters later, Alec swatted his third homer of the game, a two-run shot that made the score 17-1. Ryan then retired Brum to end the inning, and Jack Shack would need sixteen runs in the top of the sixth.

Bohn remained on the mound to close things out for the Guac Boys. After allowing a one-out single to Brian, he retired Ryan for the second out of the inning, ending the game and giving the Guac Boys a runaway 17-1 win.

The win moved the Guac Boys to .500 at 7-7 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 4-10.

In a game that scored more like a football game than baseball, Jason tied the single-game home run record for the second time this season, swatting five round-trippers in a blowout win for Shady Characters. Nate also continued his stellar year, reaching base safely seven times, and Mike also had seven hits including three homers. Joey went deep four times and Christian had three home runs in the Cheap Goats loss.

With their ace Tom out for the week, Shady Characters started Lucas on the mound, and the first batter he faced, Joey, hit a leadoff homer, giving Cheap Goats a 1-0 lead. Two batters later, Christian homered, and Cheap Goats led 2-0. Dinger followed with a home run, which made the score 3-0, before Joey hit his second homer of the inning, extending the lead to 4-0. Miller then homered, and the back-to-back-to-back-to-back homers included every player in the Cheap Goats lineup, making the score 5-0. Lucas finally escaped the inning, retiring Christian for the second out.

Christian went 4-for-6 with a double, three homers, three runs scored, and four RBI in the Cheap Goats loss.

Lucas then homered, and just as Cheap Goats did in the first, Shady Characters went back-to-back-to-back-to-back with all four members of their lineup going deep consecutively, and they led 8-6. At this point Cheap Goats turned to their bullpen, bringing Dinger to the mound to relieve Christian. The first batter he faced, Nate, singled, and Mike drove him in with an RBI single that extended the lead to 9-6. Jason then singled, putting runners on the corners, but Dinger avoided further damage, retiring Lucas for the second out of the inning. Shady Characters had put eight runs on the board in the bottom of the second, taking a 9-6 lead.

Mike went 7-for-9 with three singles, a double, three home runs, five runs scored, and five RBI.

Shady Characters also turned to the bullpen in the top of the third, bringing Jason to the mound for a rare pitching appearance. He retired the first two batters he faced, Christian and Dinger.

Dinger retired Nate to start the bottom of the third, but Mike followed with his second homer of the game, making the score 10-6. Jason then homered for the third time, and the back-to-back jacks gave Shady Characters an 11-6 lead. Dinger retired Lucas to end the inning, and Cheap Goats were behind by five runs.

Shady Characters continued to extend their lead in the bottom of the fourth. Nate singled, and Mike followed with a double to put two runners in scoring position with no outs. For the second time in the game, Jason launched a three-run bomb, and Shady Characters led 14-6. Cheap Goats removed Dinger from the mound and returned Christian to it. He retired Lucas, allowed a one-out single to Nate, and then retired Mike to end the inning with his team down by eight runs.

Cheap Goats showed some life in the top of the fifth. Christian led off the inning with a solo homer, his second of the game, cutting the score to 14-7. Two batters later, Joey tied his season best by hitting his fourth homer, which made the score 14-8. Jason then retired Miller to end the inning.

Shady Characters piled on in the bottom of the fifth, putting a game that was already out of reach completely to bed. Jason doubled to start the inning, and Lucas drove him in with an RBI single, making the score 15-8. Two batters later, Mike hit a two-run homer, and Shady Characters led 17-8. Jason came to the plate one homer shy of tying the single-game record for the second time this season, and he did exactly that, launching his fifth bomb of the game, putting Shady Characters in front 18-8. Lucas then homered, and Shady Characters led 19-8. Cheap Goats removed Christian from the mound for the second time in the game, bringing Joey to the mound for his first pitching appearance of the season. The first batter he faced, Nate, crushed a homer to right field, and Shady Characters had hit four consecutive home runs for the second time in the contest. Joey retired Mike to end the inning, and Shady Characters had scored six more runs to take a 20-8 lead heading into the sixth inning.

Nate continued his strong sophomore season, going 7-for-9 with two singles, two doubles, three home runs, six runs scored, and three RBI in the Shady Characters blowout win.
