Jack Shack Shock Guac Boys with Four Runs in Bottom of Sixth to Walk Off with Game Four Win and Advance to Wiffle Series

Jacob’s game-winning walk-off two-RBI single in the bottom of the sixth capped a stunning Jack Shack comeback that ended the game and the series, clinching his squad a berth in the 2024 Wiffle Series

In a stunning turn of events, trailing 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Jack Shack scored four runs to walk-off with a game four victory, winning the best-of-five series with Guac Boys and advancing to the Wiffle Series. Guac Boys were one out away from winning game four and forcing a decisive game five before the wheels fell off, as Jack Shack produced five hits in the bottom of the sixth, the same amount they had in the five previous innings combined. For the fifth consecutive week, Guac Boys lost a game they led in the fifth or sixth inning, this time ending a season they started 8-2 in disappointment. Jacob’s two RBI single was the game-winning hit, as Jack Shack advanced to the Wiffle Series with hopes to dethrone three-time defending champions Shady Characters.

Jon D took the mound for Jack Shack, and for the fourth consecutive game in the series, Guac Boys got on the board in the first inning. Alec led off with a double, and two batters later, Jude hit an RBI double to score him, giving Guac Boys a 1-0 lead. Jon D retired Form to strand Jude at second, ending the inning.

Bohn started for Guac Boys, and he allowed a leadoff triple to Josh. Jon M followed with an RBI single, scoring Josh, and the game was tied 1-1. Bohn got Ryan to ground out to the mound and doubled up Jon M on the play, ending the inning.

Tone led off the top of the second with a solo homer, putting Guac Boys in front 2-1. Jon D then retired Jan and Alec to end the inning.

Jon D led off the bottom of the second with a triple, but Bohn stranded him, retiring Jacob and Josh to end the inning, maintaining the one-run lead.

Bohn singled to start the top of the third, and he moved to second when Jude followed with a single. With no outs and two on, Form singled, scoring Bohn, and Guac Boys led 3-1. Guac Boys continued to have two on with no outs, and Jon D struck out Tone for the first out of the inning. He then retired Jan to strand both runners, avoiding further damage, and Jack Shack trailed by two runs.

Jon M led off the bottom of the third with a double, but Bohn stranded him, retiring Ryan and Jon D to end the inning.

Jon D rolled through the top of the fourth, retiring Alec and Bohn in order.

Bohn had reached his innings limit for the week, and Guac Boys turned to their bullpen in the bottom of the fourth, bringing Jan to the mound. He retired the first two batters he faced, Jacob and Josh, and Guac Boys held on to a 3-1 lead.

Jon D once again cruised in the top of the fifth, retiring Jude and Form in order.

Jon M led off the bottom of the fifth with a double, but Jack Shack couldn’t capitalize. Jan retired Ryan and Jon to to strand the runner, and Guac Boys continued to lead by two runs.

Tone led off the top of the sixth with a solo homer, his second of the game, putting Guac Boys ahead 4-1. Two batter later, Alec hit a one-out single, but Jon D stranded him, retiring Bohn to end the inning, and Jack Shack would need three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Jacob led off the bottom of the sixth with a triple, and he scored when Josh followed with an RBI single, cutting the score to 4-2. Jan got Jon M to fly out to the mound for the first out of the inning, and Guac Boys were an out away from going to game five. Ryan followed with a double, putting runners on second and third with one out. Jon D came to the plate with the tying run on second, and he delivered an RBI double, but only one run scored on the play. Guac Boys led 4-3 with two runners in scoring position and one out. Jacob hit a line drive to left-center, reached first safely, and emptied the bases, scoring Ryan and Jon D to give Jack Shack a 5-4 walk-off victory, ending the series in dramatic fashion.

Jack Shack’s victory clinched the best-of-five first round series with Guac Boys 3-1, and they advance to the Wiffle Series to face Shady Characters in a rematch of the 2022 championship series.

Lucas Pitches Shutout as Shady Characters Beat Cheap Goats 3-0 and Win First Series to Advance to Wiffle Series

Lucas threw the seventeenth shutout in EWL postseason history and the first since 2022 as Shady Characters beat Cheap Goats 3-0 to advance to the Wiffle Series

After squeaking out a comeback win in game three of their series with Cheap Goats, Lucas and the Shady Characters’ defense was dominant in game four, allowing six hits in a series-clinching 3-0 shutout. Cheap Goats had only three runners in scoring position and never truly threatened Shady Characters, who advance to the Wiffle Series for the fourth consecutive year. Tom, Nate, and Billy each hit solo homers to provide more than enough run support for Lucas, and now the defending champs await the conclusion of the Jack Shack vs. Guac Boys first round series.

Dinger took the mound for Cheap Goats, and after allowing a one-out single to Nate in the top of the first, he retired Thomas to strand the runner, ending the inning.

Tom had pitched a full eight innings in game three, and with his innings limit exhausted, Lucas would have to go the distance for Shady Characters in game four. Lucas retired Joey to start the bottom of the first, and when Courtlen hit a one-out double, he was caught out trying to advance the hit to a triple, ending the inning.

Billy led off the top of the second with a solo homer, giving Shady Characters a 1-0 lead. Lucas singled, but Dinger avoided further damage, retiring Tom and striking out Nate to end the inning.

Nate followed with a solo shot, and the back-to-back homers gave Shady Characters a 3-0 lead. Dinger retired Thomas to end the inning, and Cheap Goats trailed by three runs.

Shady Characters’ win clinched the best-of-five first round series with Cheap Goats 3-1, and they will advance to the Wiffle Series for the fourth consecutive season.

Jack Shack Quiet Guac Boys to Win Game Three 3-1 and Move One Win Away from Wiffle Series

Jon’s solo homer in the bottom of the first proved to be the game-winning hit as Jack Shack won a defensive struggle with Guac Boys in game three, moving a win away from taking the series

In a game eerily similar to game two, Jack Shack took a 2-1 series lead over Guac Boys with a 3-2 win in game three in which every run of the game was scored in the first inning. For the second consecutive game, Jack Shack only allowed Guac Boys to score in the first inning and pitched five consecutive shutout innings to close out the game. Similar to game two, when Jack Shack stranded Guac Boys’ final eight baserunners, in game three, they stranded Guac Boys’ final seven baserunners. Across both games, Guac Boys only plated three of eighteen baserunners, and Jack Shack moved to one win away from pulling off a first round upset and advancing to the Wiffle Series.

Jon M, who missed games one and two of the series, started on the mound for Jack Shack. The first batter he faced, Alec, singled. Bohn followed with a double, putting two runners in scoring position with no outs. Jon M got Jude to fly out to deep center, and Alec tagged and scored on the play, putting Guac Boys ahead 1-0. Jon M retired Form to strand Bohn at third, ending the inning.

Guac Boys’ ace Bohn took the mound, and the first batter he faced, Josh, who set an EWL single-season record for leadoff homers in the 2024 regular season, hit an inside-the-park homer to lead off the bottom of the first. Jon M followed with a solo shot, and the back-to-back jacks gave Jack Shack a 2-1 lead. Two batters later, Jon D hit a one-out double. Jacob followed with a double, scoring Jon D, and giving Jack Shack a 3-1 lead. Jacob was called out on the play when he fell off second base, ending the inning.

Guac Boys had two runners in scoring position, but they couldn’t capitalize. Jon M retired Tone to strand both runners, ending the inning.

Jacob led off the bottom of the fourth with a double, but Jack Shack couldn’t extend their lead. After allowing a sacrifice fly to Josh that moved Jacob to third, Bohn retired Jon M to strand the runner, ending the inning.

Jon M continued to pitch effectively, retiring Bohn and Jude in order in the top of the fifth.

Bohn continued to hold his own in the pitcher’s duel, retiring Ryan and Jon D in order in the bottom of the fifth.

Guac Boys trailed 3-1 heading into the top of the sixth. Jon D retired Form to start the inning, and Tone followed with a one-out single. Jan also singled, putting two runners on, including the tying run on first. The rally would end there, however, as Jon M retired Alec to strand both runners, the sixth and seventh consecutive Guac Boys’ base runners to be stranded, ending the inning and the game, giving Jack Shack a 3-1 win in game three.

With the win, Jack Shack took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five first round series, one win away from advancing to the Wiffle Series.

Shady Characters Win 3-2 in Extra Innings to Take 2-1 Series Lead Over Cheap Goats

Nate’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth capped Shady Characters dramatic game three comeback win, giving them a 2-1 lead over Cheap Goats in the best-of-five first round series

In one of the best displays of pitching and defense of the 2024 season, Shady Characters and Cheap Goats battled for eight innings before the defending champs pulled ahead and held on to win game three 3-2. Down 2-1 with one out in the top of the sixth, an out away from falling behind Cheap Goats in the series, Lucas hit a solo homer to tie the game and force extra innings. Nate’s RBI single in the top of the eighth was the decisive hit, and Shady Characters moved one game away from returning to the Wiffle Series for the fourth consecutive season.

Christian started on the mound for Cheap Goats, and he allowed a leadoff single to Tom to start the game. Two batters later, Thomas hit an RBI double to score him, putting Shady Characters in front 1-0. Christian retired Billy to strand Thomas at second, ending the inning.

Tom took the mound for Shady Characters, and Joey tripled off of him to lead off the bottom of the first. Tom got Courtlen to ground out to center for the first out of the inning, but Joey scored on the play, tying the game at 1-1. Tom then retired Christian to end the inning.

Christian continued to pitch effectively in the top of the fourth, sending Lucas and Tom down in order. Tom matched him in the bottom of the fourth, retiring Dinger and Kevin consecutively, and the game was tied at 1-1 through four innings.

Christian once again rolled in the top of the fifth, sending Nate and Thomas down, and he had retired nine of the last ten batters he faced.

Cheap Goats reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Joey led off the inning with a solo homer. Tom retired Courtlen and Christian to end the inning, and Cheap Goats led 2-1 heading into the sixth.

Christian retired Billy to start the top of the sixth, and Cheap Goats were one out away from taking a surprising 2-1 lead in the series. The defending champs responded, however. With their backs against the wall, Lucas hit a solo homer, tying the game at 2-2. Christian retired Tom to end the inning, and Shady Characters had pulled even.

Tom retired Dinger to start the bottom of the sixth, and Kevin followed with a one-out double, putting the winning run in scoring position. Tom elected to intentionally walk Joey, putting runners on first and second with one out. A Cheap Goats base hit would likely end the game, but Tom buckled down. He got Courtlen to ground out to left, stranding both runners, sending the game to extra innings.

Christian retired Nate to start the top of the seventh. He intentionally walked Thomas, who had been on fire all series, putting the go-ahead run on base. The maneuver worked, as Christian retired Billy to strand the runner at first, ending the inning.

Tom rolled through the bottom of the seventh, retiring Christian and Dinger, and the game would move to the eighth inning.

Christian retired Lucas to start the top of the eighth, and Tom followed with a one-out double, putting the go-ahead run in scoring position. Shady Characters capitalized, as Nate delivered a one-out RBI single, scoring Tom, and Shady Characters took their first lead of the game. Christian retired Thomas to strand Tom at first, ending the inning, and Cheap Goats trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Jack Shack Rally in Sixth to Even Series, Steal Game Two from Guac Boys 3-2

Jon D’s two-run double in the top of the sixth put Jack Shack ahead for the first time in game two, and they later held on to win, tying Guac Boys 1-1 in the first round series

After scoring only one run on two hits through the five innings of game two, Jack Shack rallied in the top of the sixth, stringing together three hits to score two runs, taking a late 3-2 lead. Ryan pitched the complete game, stranding the final eight Guac Boys runners, including the tying run in the bottom of the sixth, as Jack Shack evened the best-of-five first round series with Guac Boys 1-1. Jon D went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo homer, a run scored, and drove in all three Jack Shack runs as Guac Boys let a game slip out of control in late innings for the fourth consecutive week.

Jan took the mound for Guac Boys, and he retired Josh and Ryan in order in the top of the first.

Guac Boys took an early lead in the bottom of the first. Ryan retired Form to start the game, and Bohn followed with a one-out single. Alec singled, scoring Bohn from first, and Guac Boys led 1-0. Tone followed with a single, scoring Alec from first, and the lead was 2-0. Jan followed with a double, putting two runners in scoring position with one out. Ryan escaped further damage, however, retiring Jude to strand the runners, ending the inning.

He got Jan to fly out to the mound, stranding all three runners, and Jack Shack continued to trail by a single run heading into the sixth.

The Jack Shack win tied the best-of-five first round series at 1-1, with the winner advancing to the Wiffle Series.
