Playing in only his second career EWL game, Joe pitched a complete game win and went 3-for-5 at the plate with a triple, two home runs, 3 runs scored, and two RBI.

Playing in only his second career EWL game, Joe pitched a complete game win and went 3-for-5 at the plate with a triple, two home runs, 3 runs scored, and two RBI.

After dropping game one, the Ham Slams, led by free agent addition Joe, won game two 7-5 and evened the best-of-five first round series with Cookies & Cream at one game apiece. Joe pitched the complete game win and went 3-for-5 with a triple, two homers, three runs scored, and two RBI. Cookies & Cream suffered a blow as Joey left the game early with one of the most significant wiffle injuries in league history, and they may be without him for the rest of the series.

Dinger took the mound for Cookies & Cream, and he fell behind early when Josh led off the game with a solo homer to right-center, putting the Ham Slams up 1-0. Dinger then got Dan and Joe to fly out to center to end the inning.

Cookies & Cream evened the score immediately when Guthrie led off the bottom of the first with a solo homer, making the score 1-1. Blose followed with a triple, and Cookies were in position to pull ahead, but Joe got Joey to fly out in foul territory and got Dinger to fly out to center, ending the inning and stranding the runner.

The Slams took another lead in the top of the second. Kessler doubled to start the inning, and two batters later Dan hit a two-run blast to center, and the Slams led 3-1. Joe followed with a triple, and he scored when Kessler hit an RBI double. Dinger retired Josh to strand Kessler at second and end the inning, but the Slams had pulled ahead 4-1.

Guthrie doubled with one out in the bottom of the second, and he scored when Blose hit an RBI single. Joe then retired Joey to end the inning, and Cookies had cut the deficit to 4-2.

Dan led off the top of the third with a towering fly ball to center. Joey backed up against the fence and jumped to catch the ball and record the out. He came down awkwardly, however, twisting his ankle severely. He was carried off the field by his teammates and went to the hospital to seek medical attention. When play resumed, Joe provided his own run support with a solo homer, putting the Ham Slams ahead 5-2. Kessler followed with a solo shot, and the back-to-back homers made the score 6-2. Josh followed with a double, and Cookies & Cream made a pitching change, bringing Guthrie into the game. He retired the first batter he faced, Dan, for the second out, ending the inning and stranding the runner at second.

Cookies would narrow the margin in the bottom of the fourth. Guthrie led off with a double, and Blose followed with a two-run homer, cutting the score to 7-4. Dinger followed with a double, and just when it looked like Cookies would rally, Joe retired Jordan and Guthrie to strand the runner and end the inning.

Guthrie retired the side in order in the top of the fifth, and he had met his innings limit for the week.

Blose tripled to start the bottom of the fifth, and he scored on a Dinger groundout to cut the deficit to 7-5. Joe then retired Jordan to end the inning, and Cookies trailed by two runs.

Dinger returned to the mound in the top of the sixth, and he had more success than earlier in the game, retiring Kessler and Josh consecutively.

Down two runs in the bottom of the sixth with their two best hitters due up, Cookies couldn’t string together a rally to extend the game. Joe retired Guthrie and Blose, ending the inning and giving the Ham Slams a 7-5 win.

With the win, the Ham Slams evened the best-of-five series with Cookies & Cream at 1-1.

For the second straight game, Eastbound & Dahn came into the bottom of the sixth trailing; and for the second straight game, Nate hit a walk-off game-winning homer, as Eastbound & Dahn took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series with Cookies & Cream in an incredible, dramatic game 2 victory. The win put Eastbound & Dahn on the brink of their first playoff series win and one game away from a trip to the 2015 Wiffle Series.

Nate started on the mound for Eastbound & Dahn, and after giving up a leadoff single to Joey in the top of the first, he retired Blose and Dinger to strand the runner and end the inning.

Dinger took the mound for Cookies & Cream, and he fell behind early. Tim led off the game with a double, and Nate provided his own run support, crushing a two-run bomb to left field, putting Eastbound ahead 2-0. Dustin followed with a single, and he moved to second on a Christian single. Helal then hit a ground ball to right field, which Joey scooped up for the first out of the inning. Dustin scored on the play, but Christian was caught trying to score for the second out of the inning.

Down 3-0, Cookies & Cream cut into the deficit in the top of the second. With one out, Joey hit a solo homer to center, and the score was 3-1. Blose followed with a solo homer, and the back-to-back jacks cut the Eastbound lead to 3-2. Dinger then doubled, but Nate retired Guthrie to strand the runner and end the inning with a one-run lead.

Dinger allowed a one-out single to Nate in the bottom of the second, but he retired Dustin to pitch a scoreless inning.

Nate allowed a one-out triple to Blose in the top of the third, but Cookies couldn’t tie the game, as Nate retired Dinger to strand the runner, and the score remained 3-2.

Guthrie led off the top of the fourth with a single, but Cookies failed to tie the game again, as Nate retired Joey and Blose to end the inning.

Eastbound would add one more to their lead in the bottom of the fourth, when Hartley led off the inning with a solo homer. Dinger retired Nate and Dustin to end the inning, but Eastbound had pulled ahead 4-2 after four innings.

Cookies drew even with Eastbound in the top of the fifth, scoring two runs to tie the game. Guthrie singled with one out, and Joey followed with a two-run homer, his second blast of the game, tying the game at 4-4. Nate then retired Blose to end the inning.

Dinger cruised through the bottom of the fifth, retiring the side in order, and the game was tied heading into the final frame.

Dinger led off the top of the sixth with a single, and he moved to second on a Guthrie groundout. The go-ahead run was in scoring position, and Joey drove him in with an RBI single, putting Cookies & Cream ahead for the first time in the game 5-4. Nate then retired Blose, and Eastbound would trail by a run heading into their final at-bat.

Eastbound had rallied from six runs down in the bottom of the sixth inning of game 1, and they would need a run to tie and two runs to win in the bottom of the sixth of game 2. Dinger remained in the game, and the first batter he faced, Hartley, hit a single, putting the tying runner on base. Nate had hit two homers in the bottom of the sixth of game 1, including the game-winning walk-off solo homer than gave Eastbound the 13-12 win. He came to the plate as the winning run, and for the second consecutive game, he did the improbable, crushing a two-run titanic shot to left field, and the walk-off home run gave Eastbound & Dahn a 7-6 win in game 2. Nate had gone a combined 3-for-3 with 3 home runs in the bottom of the sixth innings of games 1 and 2, and Eastbound & Dahn had pulled ahead 2-0 in the best-of-five first round series with Cookies & Cream.

Questionable Outfit pulled ahead 2-0 in their best-of-five series with the Ham Slams, escaping with a win in a game they likely should have lost, as Reilly pitched effectively and crushed three homers to carry his squad. The Ham Slams made costly base running errors in the fifth and sixth innings which proved to be critical in a close game that they narrowly lost. The loss put the Ham Slams against the wall, as they now must win games 3, 4, and 5 to advance beyond the first round for the first time in franchise history, and Questionable Outfit are a win away from clinching a third consecutive Wiffle Series appearance.

After a surprising decision not to start Reilly in game 1 of the series, Questionable Outfit returned to their ace in game 2. He gave up a one-out double to Dan in the top of the first, but stranded the runner for a scoreless inning.

The Ham Slams turned to Tim, their #2 starter, to take the mound for game 2. Questionable hit him early and took a quick lead in the bottom of the first. Bob led off the inning with a single, and two batters later, Reilly provided his own run support with a two-run blast to make the score 2-0. Mike followed with a single, but he was caught out trying to extend the hit into a double, ending the inning.

The Ham Slams bounced right back in the top of the second, tying the game. With one out, Steve hit a solo homer to right, cutting the score to 2-1. Tim followed with a solo shot, and the back-to-back homers tied the game at 2-2. Dan then singled, but Reilly retired Alan to strand the runner and end the inning.

Questionable made up for the two runs in the bottom of the second. Bob doubled to lead off, and he scored from second when Tom grounded out to deep right, making the score 3-2. Reilly then followed with his second homer in as many at-bats, putting Questionable ahead 4-2. Tim then retired Mike to end the inning.

The Ham Slams continued to fight back in the top of the fifth. Steve led off the inning with his second homer of the game, and the score was 5-4. Tim followed with a double, and the tying run was on second base. Reilly got the next batter, Dan, to ground out to left for the first out of the inning. Tim, thinking it was the second out of the inning, wandered off of third base and was caught out for what was actually the second out of the inning. The Slams would have had the tying runner on third, but the base running error ending the inning.

Tim made up for the gaffe by retiring the Questionable side in order in the top of the sixth. The Ham Slams would enter the bottom of the sixth down a single run.

Alan led off the inning with a double, putting the tying runner in scoring position. Adam came to the plate and hit a single, moving Alan to third. The Ham Slams had runners at the corners with the tying run 13 steps away from home and the winning run on first. Steve then hit a towering fly ball to right field. Questionable Outfit fielders scrambled to get under the ball, and at the last second Mike called for it and made the catch. Adam had wandered off of first base, and Mike got the ball to the mound before Adam made it back to the base, doubling him up to end the inning and the game. The Ham Slams had committed another base running error, this one fatal, as Questionable Outfit held on to win the game 5-4 and take a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five first round series.

After falling behind early, Cookies & Cream avoided dropping into an 0-2 hole in the 2014 Wiffle Series with a late rally, beating Questionable Outfit 5-4 in game 2.

After swatting three home runs in game 1, Bob started on the mound for Questionable in game 2, and he got off to a good start. He retired the side in order, and Questionable got out their bats in the bottom of the first.

Cookies & Cream were without Guthrie, considered by many the best pitcher in league history, so they sent Joey to the hill for a rare start, and he struggled early. After retiring Tom for the first out of the inning, he starting giving up long balls. Bob crushed a solo homer the opposite way to left-center, putting Questionable ahead 1-0. Morrison followed with a line drive homer to center, and the next batter, Reilly, made it back-to-back-to-back jacks with a third consecutive Questionable home run. Joey got Tom to fly out to end the inning, but Questionable had opened up an early 3-0 lead.

Cookies & Cream started to chip away at the Questionable lead in the top of the third. Blose led off the inning with a solo homer to right, and Joey followed with his second home run of the game. The back-to-back homers cut the score to 4-3. Bob settled down and retired Vassallo and Dinger to end the inning, maintaining a one-run lead.

Blose led off the top of the fourth with a double, and moved to third on a Joey sacrifice fly, but Cookies & Cream couldn’t capitalize on the runner in scoring position. Bob got Vassallo to fly out to left to end the inning, stranding the runner.

Down 4-3 and two outs away from falling behind 0-2 in the series, Cookies & Cream rallied in the top of the sixth. Joey led off the inning with a solo homer, his third of the game, tying the game at 4-4. The next batter, Vassallo, hit a bomb to deep left, and his first hit of the series gave Cookies & Cream a 5-4 lead. Blose would double later in the inning with one out, but Cookies couldn’t extend the lead. However, they had taken command of the game and were one inning away from tying the series.

Joey remained in the game to close things out, and Questionable went quickly in the bottom of the sixth. Tom flew out to the mound, and Bob flew out to left, ending the inning and the game.

The 5-4 Cookies & Cream win tied the best-of-seven championship series at 1-1.

After losing game 1 to Eastbound & Dahn in their worst performance of the 2014 season, Questionable Outfit bounced back in game 2 and Bob, the 2013 EWL Wiffler of the Year, pitched one of the most historic outings in league history. Two years after Guthrie pitched the only perfect game in EWL history during the 2012 playoffs, Bob matched him, retiring 12 consecutive Eastbound & Dahn hitters in order in a truly remarkable display.

Bob retired Ivan and Hartley in order in the top of the first, and Questionable Outfit took an early lead in the bottom of half of the inning, providing the only run support Bob would need. Eastbound & Dahn sent Christian to the mound, and he got into trouble after retiring Tom for the first out of the inning. Morrison hit a one out triple, and he scored when Bob followed with a double, making the score 1-0. Reilly would then single, putting runners on first and third. Kimble doubled, scoring both runners, making the score 3-0. Eastbound recorded the second out of the inning when Tom tried to extend the double into a triple and was caught out in between bases.

Christian and Nate were retired in order in the top of the second, and Questionable would add to their lead in the bottom of the inning. Morrison led off the inning with a single, and the next batter, Bob, crushed a two-run blast to right field. Christian retired Reilly for the first out of the inning, but Tom followed with a solo shot, extending the Questionable lead to 6-0. Morrison would fly out for the second out the inning, and Eastbound trailed by 6 runs.

Helal and Ivan were sent down consecutively in the top of the third, and Bob was halfway to perfection. Christian pitched his first scoreless frame in the bottom of the third, and the score remained 6-0.

Hartley and Christian each flew out to the mound in the top of the fourth. Christian pitched another perfect inning in the bottom of the fourth.

Bob retired Nate and Helal, who each grounded out to Kimble in left, in the top of the fifth, and he had retired the game’s first 10 batters. Reilly hit a one-out triple in the bottom of the fifth, but Christian stranded him, retiring Tom to end the inning.

Up 6-0, Bob was two outs away from history in the top of the sixth. Ivan grounded out to left for the first out of the inning, and only Hartley stood between Bob and a perfect game. He hit a high fly to shallow right field, and Morrison camped under it, making the catch and securing only the second no-hitter in EWL history for Bob and Questionable Outfit.
