Morrison became the first player in EWL history to blow a save opportunity, as he was unable to close the door for the Caucasians, yielding three runs in the top of the sixth in a 7-6 loss to the Dentists.
Frosty started on the mound for the Vaginas, and retired Ron and Chris in order to start the game in the top of the first.
After the perfect first, Frosty led off the bottom of the first with a lead off home run of Chris, the fourth in league history, making the score 1-0. Chris fell deeper into the hole, giving up back-to-back homers when Morrison bombed one to left, putting the Caucasians up by two. The rally ended there, however, as Chris retired Matt and Cory in each of their first career at-bats, ending the first.
Down two, Spads led off the top of the second with a double for the Dentists. Mike followed by flying out to center, but Ron tied the game when he hit a two-run homer to deep center field making the score 2-2. The Dentists quickly took the lead, when Chris made back-to-back jacks, pushing the score to 3-2. Frosty ended the rally by retiring Spads, who flew out to the mound.
Frosty quickly made up for giving up three runs in the top of the second, by leading off the bottom of the second with his second homer of the game, tying the game at 3. Morrison followed with a double, and remained at second when Matt flew out to the mound. With one out, Cory hit a laser beam home run to left field, driving in Morrison and putting the Vaginas ahead 5-3. Chris then retired Frosty to end bottom of the second.
Mike started the top of the third with a double, but Frosty got out of the inning unscathed when he retired Ron and Chris with ground outs. Chris held the deficit to two runs in the bottom of the third, as both Morrison and Matt grounded out to left field.
With the score 5-3, Spads led off the top of the fourth by grounding out to left. But with one out, Mike cut the deficit to one run when he hit a solo blast to left field. Ron was unable to put more runs on the board, as he flew out to end the top half of the inning.
Up one run, the Vaginas couldn’t extend their lead, as Chris retired Cory and Frosty in order to end the fourth inning.
Chris doubled to lead off the top of the fifth, and Spads singled next. But Chris was trapped in between bases while Frosty got the ball on the mound, putting Spads at second with one out. Frosty got Mike to ground out, stranding the runner at second, as the Dentists were unable to cut into the lead despite putting two runners on base.
Up 5-4, Morrison led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run, his second of the game, giving the Caucasians a 6-4 lead with no outs. Matt and Cory were unable to add to the lead, as they were retired by Chris to end the fifth.
With the score 6-4, Frosty gave up a solo bomb to Ron to lead off the top of the sixth, cutting the deficit to one run at 6-5 with no outs. The Vaginas made a call to the bullpen, bringing in Morrison for the save. The first batter he faced, Chris, singled, and Spads followed with a single to put runners at first and second with no outs. Mike flew out to the mound as Morrison came within one out of the second save in league history. Down to their last out, Ron stepped to the plate and hit a laser to left-center field. Fielding and throwing errors ensued, and Ron ended up on third with a triple, driving in Chris and Spads, giving the Dentists their first lead since the second inning at 7-6. Morrison retired Chris to end the inning, stranding Ron and third, but the damage had been done.
Chris remained in the game to close things out for the Dentists, as the Vaginas tried to tie the game and force extra innings. Frosty grounded out to right field for the first out of the inning, and Morrison flew out to deep center field, ending the game, and giving the Dentists a come-from-behind win. The win was the Dentists fifth consecutive, with their last loss coming May 24th.
Game Notes:
– Ron had one of the best individual innings in league history, driving in all three runs on a homer and a triple in the top of the sixth, pulling the Dentists from being down 6-4 to up 7-6
– Both Matt and Cory made their EWL debuts in this game
