The Caucasian Vaginas clinched the first ever EWL Pennant as Guthrie and Les combined for a 1-hit shutout of 4 out of 5 Dentists.

The Fish Sticks had been eliminated from pennant contention in the previous week 9 game, as the Caucasians defeated them and mathematically ending the chances at finishing as the #1 seed. The Dentists still had a chance to earn the top spot in the playoffs though, and needed to beat the Vaginas to keep that hope alive. A loss would give the Caucasians the pennant and secure the playoff matchups for all four EWL teams.

Guthrie started on the mound for the Caucasians, coming off his legendary performance in the first game of week 9. He was limited to only two innings due to pitching a complete game earlier in the day. He was not fatigued, however, and remained unhittable, retiring Ron and Marr in order to start the game in the top of the first.

Guthrie’s great day continued at the plate in the bottom of the first, as he hit a leadoff home run to put the Caucasians up 1-0. It was the only run they would need. The Dentists had their ace, Chris, on the mound, who came into the game 6-0 and had been dominant pitching throughout the season. After giving up the solo homer to start the game, he retired Morrison and Les in order to end the first.

Guthrie finished his pitching quota in the top of the second, retiring Chris and Spads in order, meeting his 8 IP allotment.

Higgings doubled to start the bottom of the second, but was stranded at second when Chris retired Guthrie and Morrison to end the inning.

The Caucasians made the call to the bullpen, bringing in Les for his third pitching appearance of the season, his second in relief. He retired Braydn and Marr consecutively in the top of the third.

Chris retired Les and Higgins in the bottom of the third, and the score remained 1-0.

Les gave up a single to Chris to lead off the top of the fourth, breaking up the no hitter. Unfortunately for the Dentists, it was the one and only hit they would get the entire game. Chris was stranded at first when Ron and Braydn were retired, ending the inning.

Chris continued to pitch well in the bottom of the fourth, getting Guthrie and Morrison to each ground out, holding the deficit to one run.

Les retired Marr and Chris in the top of the fifth, and the Caucasians added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth when Les led off the inning with a solo homer, pushing the score to 2-0. Chris retired Higgins and Guthrie to end the inning, sending the Dentists to their final at-bat.

Les shut the door though, retiring Ron and Braydn in order, having retired eight of the nine batters he faced in relief.

The win gave the Caucasian Vaginas the first ever EWL Regular Season Pennant.

Game Notes:
– Chris gave up 2 ER on only three hits, but took the loss. He also had the only hit of the game for the Dentists.
– Both playoff matchups have been determined, only the #2 and #3 seed are up for grabs.
– After going hitless, Morrison’s EWL record hitting streak was snapped at 15 games. The current leader for longest active hitting streak is Morrison’s Caucasian teammate Les at 12 games.
