After going neck-and-neck with Eastbound & Dahn through five innings, Cookies & Cream scored in the sixth and held their lead to win 4-3.

Down to a three-man roster, Eastbound & Dahn sent Mark to the mound for the start. The first batter he faced, Morrison, singled. Mark retired Joey for the first out of the inning, but the next batter, Blose, crushed a two-run bomb to right-center, putting Cookies & Cream up 2-0 early. Dinger followed with a one-out single, but Mark escaped further damage, retiring Morrison to end the inning.

With their staff ace Guthrie out for the second consecutive week, Cookies & Cream sent Dinger to the mound. He got into trouble immediately, giving up singles to Eastbound’s first two batters, Mark and Hartley. Dinger got Trevar to ground out for the first out of the inning, but Mark scored from second on the play, cutting the score to 2-1. With one out and a runner on second, Mark hit an RBI single, scoring Hartley and tying the game at 2-2. Hartley followed with a single, but was retired trying to extend the single into a double, ending the inning.

Mark settled down in the top of the first, retiring Joey for the first out of the inning. Blose hit a one-out triple, but Mark stranded the runner at third, getting Dinger to groundout to left for the second out of the inning. Dinger cruised through the bottom of the second, retiring Eastbound & Dahn in order.

Mark matched Dinger in the top of the third, sending Morrison and Joey down consecutively. Dinger continued to roll in the bottom of the third, pitching a perfect frame to maintain the 2-2 tie.

Blose led off the top of the fourth with a double, and after three at-bats was only a single away from the cycle. Mark retired the next batter, Dinger, but Morrison knocked a one-out single, scoring Blose to put Cookies & Cream ahead 3-2. Mark then retired Joey for the second out of the inning.

The lead wouldn’t last long. Dinger retired Mark for the first out of the bottom of the fourth, but Hartley crushed a solo blast to left field, tying the game at 3-3. Trevar flew out to right to end the inning.

Mark finally retired Blose for the first out in the top of the fifth. Dinger followed with a one out single, and the next batter, Morrison, singled as well. But as Dinger moved from first to third, Morrison tried to stretch the single into a double, and was caught in between bases for the second out of the inning. Dinger held Eastbound & Dahn scoreless in the bottom of the fifth, retiring the side in order.

Joey, hitless to this point, led off the top of the sixth with a triple, putting the go-ahead run on third. Mark got Blose, the next batter, to groundout to left, but Joey raced home on the play, giving Cookies & Cream a one-run lead. Dinger flew out for the second out of the inning, and Eastbound headed into the bottom of the sixth trailing.

Dinger retired Trevar for the first out of the inning, but Mark followed with a one-out double, putting the tying runner in scoring position. But Dinger buckled down, retiring Hartley, who was 3-for-5 at that point, for the second out, ending the game and giving Cookies & Cream the 4-3 win.

The win moved Cookies & Cream to 7-2 on the season, while the loss dropped Eastbound & Dahn to 3-6 for the year.
