The Ham Slams offensive, led by Dan, was in full throttle against Eastbound & Dahn, as the Slams went up big early and held off a late Eastbound rally to win 15-8. Josh pitched the complete game win and also hit for the cycle for the first time in his wiffle career.

Christian took the mound for Eastbound, and the Ham Slams jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first. With one out, Tim tripled, and the next batter, Dan, drove him in with an RBI double to make the score 1-0. Kessler followed with a single, and Dan scored from second to put the Slams ahead 2-0. Christian then retired Josh to end the inning.

The Ham Slams penciled in Josh as their starter, and he took care of business early, retiring Nate and Dustin in the bottom of the first.

Tim led off the top of the second with his second triple of the game, and he scored when Dan grounded out to left for the first out of the inning. Christian then retired Kessler to end the inning, and the Slams led 3-0.

Christian led off the bottom of the second with a single, but his team couldn’t help him with run support, as Josh retired Sandy Remo and Nate to strand the runner.

The Slams would add to their lead in the top of the third. Josh led off the inning with a solo homer, and two batters later, Dan hit a one-out solo shot to left, putting the Slams ahead 5-0. Kessler and Josh each singled to put runners on first and second, and Tim drove in a run with an RBI double, making the score 6-0. Dan followed with a single that scored Kessler, but Tim was called out trying to score from second on the play. One run scored, but two runners were stranded, and the Ham Slams led 7-0.

Dustin started the bottom of the third with a triple, but once again, Eastbound couldn’t plate a run, as Christian and Sandy Remo were both retired to strand the runner and end the inning with the Slams ahead seven runs.

The Ham Slams blew the game open in the top of the fourth, piling on more runs. Christian had been hit hard, and Eastbound turned to Nate from the bullpen. Unfortunately, he was hit even harder. Kessler led off the inning with a solo homer, and the score was 8-0. Josh doubled, and he scored when Tim followed with an RBI double that pushed the lead to 9-0. Dan then came to the plate and crushed his second homer of the game, a two-run shot that gave the Ham Slams an 11-0 lead. Kessler then doubled and moved to third when Josh followed with a double. Nate got the first out of the inning by getting Tim to ground out to center, but Kessler scored from third on the play, making the score 12-0. With one out and a runner on third, Dan hit his second two-run blast of the inning, a towering bomb that gave the Ham Slams a 14-0 lead. Nate finally retired Kessler to end the inning, and the Slams had doubled their lead to make the score 14-0.

Down by a considerable margin, Eastbound showed some tenacity in the bottom of the fourth, cutting the deficit. Dustin led off the inning with a double and moved to third on a Christian single. Sandy Remo then singled, scoring Dustin to put Eastbound on the board, 14-1. Nate then doubled, scoring Christian, and the score was 14-2. Dustin followed with an RBI single that scored Sandy Remo, and Christian singled for the second time in the inning, scoring Nate, and the score was 14-4. Sandy then singled to load the bases, and just when it looked like Eastbound had Josh on the ropes, he retired Nate to strand three runners and end the inning.

Josh started the top of the fifth with a single, and two batters later Dan hit a one-out single to put runners on the corners. Nate avoided trouble, however, retiring Kessler to strand both runners, and the score remained 14-4.

Eastbound continued to chip away at the Ham Slams lead in the bottom of the fifth. With one out, Christian singled, and Sandy Remo followed with a single to put runners on first and third. Nate then hit a single, and both runners raced around to score, cutting the Ham Slams lead to 14-6. Dustin then singled to put runners on the corners, and Christian hit an RBI double, emptying the bases, and the score was 14-8. Josh then retired Sandy to end the inning, and Eastbound trailed by six runs.

The Slams would add an insurance run in the top of the sixth. Josh tripled to complete the cycle, and Tim drove him in with an RBI single that made the score 15-8. Nate retired the next two batters to end the inning, and Eastbound would head into their final at-bat trailing by seven runs.

After allowing eight runs over the past two innings, Josh buckled down in the bottom of the sixth. He retired Nate and Dustin in order to end the inning and the game, giving the Ham Slams the 15-8 win.

The win moved the Slams back to .500 at 7-7 on the season, and the loss dropped Eastbound & Dahn to 1-13.
