Erich Cycles, Jordan Pitches Two-Hitter as Cookies & Cream Soar Past Eastbound & Dahn 13-0

Cookies & Cream celebrate at the plate after Erich’s three-run homer in the bottom of the second. Erich had five hits in the game, and hit for the cycle.

Cookies & Cream were firing on all cylinders against Eastbound & Dahn in week 6, as Erich hit for the cycle, Joey contributed six hits, and Jordan pitched a complete game two-hit shutout in a 13-0 win that was never in question. Cookies & Cream jumped ahead early and never looked back, as Eastbound had only two baserunners and did not advance a runner beyond second base.

Jordan got off to a strong start in the top of the first, retiring Nate and Christian in order. BK took the mound for Eastbound & Dahn, and he fell behind early. Jordan double to start the bottom half of the inning, and he moved to third when Guthrie followed with a single. The next batter, Erich, grounded out to right, but Jordan scored on the play to make the score 1-0. Joey then hit an RBI double, scoring Guthrie, and Cookies led 2-0. Jordan doubled for his second hit of the inning, scoring Joey from second, and Cookies & Cream pulled in front 3-0. BK retired Guthrie to end the inning, stranding Joey at second.

Jordan retired the site in order again in the top of the second, sending Helal and BK down. Cookies added to their lead in a big way in the bottom of the second. Erich and Joey each singled to start the inning, and two batters later, Guthrie hit a one-out double, scoring Erich to make the score 4-0. Erich followed with a three-run blast to right, and the homer put Cookies & Cream ahead 7-0. Joey then doubled, and Jordan followed with a two-run shot that made the score 9-0. Guthrie then tripled, but BK avoided further damage, retiring Erich to end the inning after allowing six runs.

Down 9-0, Eastbound went down in order yet again in the top of the third, as Jordan retired Nate and Christian. Cookies would balloon their lead further in the bottom of the third. Joey started the inning with a solo shot to left-center, making the score 10-0. BK retired Jordan for the first out of the inning, but Guthrie followed with a double, and he scored on an Erich RBI triple that made the score 11-0. Joey then hit an RBI double, scoring Erich, and the score was 12-0. Jordan then doubled, driving in Joey to push the Cookies & Cream lead to 13-0. BK retired Guthrie to end the inning, and Eastbound were in a big hole through three.

Once again, Jordan sent Eastbound down without a hit in the top of the fourth, retiring Helal and BK, and he was perfect through four innings.

After scoring three or more runs in each of the first three innings, Cookies went more quietly in the bottom of the fourth. Erich led off with a double, and after a Joey single, Jordan grounded out, and Joey was doubled up to end the inning with the score remaining 13-0. The double gave Erich the cycle, his second of his rookie season.

Jordan fanned Nate to start the top of the fifth, and he had retired the first nine batters that he had face. Three outs away from a perfect game, Christian spoiled the party, hitting a rolling single down the first base line, becoming Eastbound & Dahn’s first base runner in the game. Eastbound couldn’t take advantage, however, as Helal grounded out to end the inning, stranding the runner.

Erich singled with one out in the bottom of the fifth, but Cookies couldn’t add to their lead, as Joey was retired to end the inning.

BK led off the top of the sixth with a double, Eastbound’s second hit of the game. Jordan preserved the shutout, however, retiring Nate and Christian to strand the runner, ending the inning and the game, as Cookies & Cream won 13-0.

The win moved Cookies & Cream to 6-5 on the year, and the loss dropped Eastbound & Dahn to 2-9.
