Brian Delivers on the Mound, Leads Rag Tag Jack Shack Lineup to 7-3 Win Over Guacamol-yay

Brian moved to 3-0 on the season, pitching the complete game win for Jack Shack

Brian allowed only three runs, all in the sixth inning, en route to a complete game win for Jack Shack in a 7-3 defeat of Guacamol-yay. Down two of their best players for week 3, Jack Shack were led by Brian, who went 4-for-6, and Dave, a free agent playing in his first game for Jack Shack, who went 5-for-6.

Josh K took the mound for Guacamol-yay, and he struck out Nate, EWL veteran and former champion, also playing in his first game as a free agent for Jack Shack. He then retired Turbo to end the inning.

Jan led off the bottom of the first with a triple, but over-ran the base and was retired for the first out of the inning. Brian then fanned Josh K, ending the first inning with the game scoreless.

Jack Shack would get on the board in the top of the second. Dave singled with one out, and he moved from first to third when Nate followed with a double. With one out and two runners in scoring position, Turbo tripled, clearing the bases and putting Jack Shack ahead 2-0. Josh K then retired Brian, ending the inning.

Sean singled to start the bottom of the second, but Brian retired Jude and Ryan, stranding the running to end the inning.

Jack Shack extended their lead in the top of the third. Dave doubled to lead off, and two batters later, Turbo tripled for the second consecutive at-bat, scoring Dave to make the score 3-0. Brian then doubled, scoring Turbo, and Jack Shack led 4-0. Dave followed with a single, putting runners on the corners, but Josh K avoided further damage, retiring Nate to strand both runners, ending the inning.

Josh K doubled with one out in the bottom of the third, but Guacmol-yay couldn’t plate the run, as Brian retired Sean for the second out, and the score remained 4-0.

Jack Shack continued to grow their lead in the top of the fourth. Brian singled with one out, and he moved from first to third when Dave followed with a double. With one out and two runners in scoring position, Nate doubled, driving in two runs, and Jack Shack led 6-0. Josh K then got Turbo to fly out to the mound to end the inning, and Guacamol-yay trailed by six.

Jude singled to start the bottom of the fourth, but Brian continued to strand Guacamol-yay runners. He got Ryan to fly out to right, and Jan flew out to center, stranding the runner and ending the inning.

Brian doubled to start the top of the fifth, and Dave followed with a single, putting runners on second and third with no outs. It looked as if Jack Shack would continue to pull away, but Josk K buckled down. He retired Nate and Turbo, stranding both runners in scoring position, and Guacamol-yay continued to trail 6-0.

Brian continued to roll in the bottom of the fifth. He fanned Josh K for the second time in the game for the first out of the inning, and then retired Sean to end the inning.

Jack Shack added an insurance run in the top of the sixth, when Brian provided his own run support, leading off the inning with a solo homer. Josh K retired Dave and Nate to end the inning, and Jack Shack led 7-0 heading into the final frame.

Brian pitched the complete game win for Jack Shack, and also went 4-for-6 at the plate with a single, two doubles, and a homer.

Brian had pitched five shutout innings, allowing only four hits, but Guacamol-yay finally got to him in the bottom of the sixth. Jude led off the inning with a triple, and Ryan got Guacamol-yay on the board with a two-run homer, cutting the deficit to 7-2. Jan then tripled for the second time in the game, and Josh K drove him in with an RBI double. Guacamol-yay had cut the Jack Shack lead from seven to four and had a runner in scoring position. Brian remained on the mound, and he got back on track after allowing hits to the first four batters of the inning. He retired Sean and Jude consecutively, stranding Josh K at second, and ending the game, giving Jack Shack a 7-3 win.

The win moved Jack Shack to 3-2 on the season, and the loss dropped Guacamol-yay to 2-3.
