Miller went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer in his return to the Wiffle Diamond
Led by Miller and Joey, who combined for five extra-base hits, and riding EWL veteran Dinger’s complete game effort on the mound, Cheap Goats beat Jack Shack 4-1 in the first game of the 2021 EWL regular season.
Brian took the mound for the two-time defending champions, and he retired 2020 co-MVP Brett for the first out of the inning. The other 2020 co-MVP, Joey, followed with a double, and in his first at-bat with Cheap Goats, Miller hit a two-run homer to right-center. Christian followed with a triple, and Dinger drove him in with an RBI single that put Cheap Goats ahead 3-0. Brian then retired Brett to end the inning.

Dinger retired Adam, the first batter he faced in the bottom of the first. Turbo followed with a one-out double, but Dinger stranded him, retiring Dustin to end the inning.
Brian fared better in the top of the second. After allowing a one-out double to Miller, he retired Christian to strand the runner at second, ending the inning.
Dinger cruised through the bottom of the second, retiring Brian and fanning Josh, who had returned to the diamond after missing the 2020 season.

Brian retired Cheap Goats in order in the top of the third, and the score remained 3-0.
Adam singled to start the bottom of the third, but Jack Shack couldn’t capitalize. Dinger retired Turbo and Dustin to end the inning.
Miller connects on a two-run blast in his first at-bat of the season
Joey led off the top of the fourth with a triple, and he scored when Miller grounded out for the first out of the inning. Brian then retired Christian to end the inning, and Cheap Goats had extended their lead to 4-0.
Dinger retired the side in order in the bottom of the fourth, and he had allowed only two base runners through the first four innings.
Brian sent Dinger and Brett down in order in the top of the fifth, and he finally got some run support from his offense in the bottom half of the inning.
Dinger pitched the complete game for Cheap Goats, allowing only one run on four hits
Adam led off the bottom of the fifth with a double, and he scored from second when Turbo grounded out to left for the first out of the inning. Jack Shack couldn’t rally, however, as Dinger retired Dustin to end the inning, and the score was 4-1.
Joey doubled to lead off the top of the sixth, but Cheap Goats couldn’t plate an insurance run. Brian retired Miller and Christian to strand the runner at second, and Jack Shack trailed by three runs heading into their final at-bat.
Brian started the bottom of the sixth with a double, but the Jack Shack comeback effort ended there. Dinger retired Josh and Adam to strand the runner, ending the inning and the game, giving Cheap Goats a 4-1 victory.
Brian delivers a pitch to Dinger in the 2021 EWL season opener
The win moved Cheap Goats to 1-0 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 0-1.
