Jack Shack’s Offense Explodes in 13-1 Blowout of Guacamol-yay

Dustin and Josh D unleashed their bats, each hitting multiple home runs, and the Jack Shack lineup blew past Gucamol-yay 13-1 in the most impressive performance of the 2021 season to date for the two-time defending champions. Dustin had five extra base hits, Josh D had four, Turbo had five hits, Brian had four, and Dustin pitched a complete game win, allowing only one run, as Jack Shack looked like a championship level team for the first time in 2021.

Josh K started for Guacamol-yay, and he fell into a big hole early. After retiring the first batter he faced, Brian, Turbo tripled. Dustin followed with a two-run homer, giving Jack Shack an early lead. Josh D followed with a double, and Brian drove him in with an RBI double that made the score 3-0. Turbo then singled, scoring Brian, and the score was 4-0. Dustin then hit his second two-run homer of the inning, putting Jack Shack in front 6-0. Josh D doubled for the second time in the inning, and he scored when Brian hit an RBI single, extending the Jack Shack lead to 7-0. Turbo then singled, putting runners on first and second with one out, but Josh K finally escaped the inning, retiring Dustin to strand both runners.

Jan led off the bottom of the first with a triple, and he scored when Josh K grounded out for the first out of the inning. It would be the only run Guacamol-yay scored in the game. Dustin ended the inning by striking out Kyle, and the score was 7-1.

Josh K had things a little easier in the top of the second. He retired Josh D and Brian in order, and Guacamol-yay continued to trail by six runs.

Ryan started the bottom of the second with a double, but Dustin stranded him, retiring Jan and Josh K to end the inning.

Jack Shack added to their lead in the top of the third when Turbo led off the inning with a solo homer, making the score 8-1. Two batters later, Josh D hit a solo shot, and Jack Shack led 9-1. Josh K then retired Brian to end the inning.

Kyle led off the bottom of the third with a double, but when Ryan flew out for the first out of the inning, Kyle was doubled up, ending the inning.

Jack Shack wasn’t finished on offense. Dustin doubled with one-out in the top of the fourth, and Josh D followed with his second homer of the game, a two-run blast that made the score 11-1. Brian then singled, and Turbo followed with a single, putting runners on the corners with one out. Dustin doubled, scoring Brian, and Jack Shack led 12-1. Jack Shack had runners on second and third with one out, but Josh K got out of the inning, retiring Josh D to strand both runners, and Jack Shack led by eleven.

Jan singled to start the bottom of the fourth, but Dustin continued to strand Guacamol-yay runners. He retired Josh K and Kyle, ending the inning.

Guacamol-yay turned to their bullpen in the top of the fifth, bringing Jan to the mound. He retired Brian and Turbo consecutively, and the score remained 12-1.

Ryan led off the bottom of the fifth with a double, but yet again, Dustin stranded a Guacamol-yay runner. He retired Jan and Josh K to strand Ryan at second, ending the inning.

Jack Shack added one final insurance run in the top of the sixth when Dustin led off the inning with a solo blast, his third of the game. Two batters later, Brian hit a one-out triple, but Jan stranded him, retiring Turbo to end the inning with the score 13-1.

Dustin remained on the mound to close things out in the bottom of the sixth, and he made quick work of Guacamol-yay. He retired Kyle and Ryan in order, giving Jack Shack the 13-1 win.

The win moved Jack Shack to 2-4 on the season, and the loss dropped Gucamol-yay to 0-6.

Miller Pitches One-Hit Shutout as Cheap Goats Squeeze By Guacamol-yay 1-0

Miller delivered the most dominant pitching performance the league has seen in years, allowing only one hit for Cheap Goats in a complete game shutout of Guacamol-yay. It was the lowest scoring game the EWL has seen in four years, since Questionable Outfit, led by Miller’s complete game shutout, beat Cookies & Cream 1-0 in 2017. Brett drove in the only Cheap Goats run, and Cheap Goats remained tied for first place in the EWL standings.

Jan took the mound for Guacamol-yay. He allowed a leadoff single to Brett, and Joey followed with a single, putting runners on first and second with no outs. Cheap Goats couldn’t capitalize, as Jan retired Miller and Christian to strand both runners, ending the inning.

Miller retired Jan and Josh K in order in the bottom of the first.

Jordan started the top of the second with a single, and Brett followed with a single, once again putting runners on first and second with no outs. But once again, Jan cracked down, retiring Joey and Miller to strand two Cheap Goats runners for the second consecutive inning, and the game remained scoreless.

Miller once again rolled in the bottom of the second, retiring Kyle and Ryan consecutively.

Jan matched Miller in the top of the third, retiring Christian and Jordan.

Jan and Josh were sent down in order in the bottom of the third, and through three the score remained 0-0.

Jan once again cruised in the top of the fourth, sending Brett and Joey down in order.

Miller retired Kyle and Ryan consecutively in the bottom of the fourth, and through four innings, he had retired all eight batters he had faced.

Jan retired his seventh and eighth consecutive batters in the top of the fifth, sending Miller and Christian down.

Guacamol-yay registered their first hit of the game in the bottom of the fifth. Jan doubled, putting the go-ahead run in scoring position. Guacamol-yay couldn’t plate the run, however, as Miller retired Josh K and Kyle to strand Jan at second, ending the inning.

The scoreless tie was finally broken in the top of the sixth. Jordan led off with a double, and Brett followed with an RBI double, scoring Jordan to put Cheap Goats ahead 1-0. Joey hit a sacrifice fly, moving Brett to third, but Jan avoided further damage, retiring Miller to strand Brett at third, ending the inning.

Guacamol-yay only needed a run, but Miller continued to roll in the bottom of the final frame. He retired Ryan and Jan in order, ending the game, giving Cheap Goats a 1-0 victory.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 5-1 on the season, and Guacamol-yay remained winless at 0-5.

Tom’s Eighth Inning Walk-Off Homer Lifts Shady Characters to 4-3 Win Over Jack Shack

With Jack Shack and Shady Characters tied at 3-3, Tom led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a towering solo shot to right-center, hitting a walk-off homer to his signature spot on the field, giving Shady Characters a 4-3 lead and their third consecutive win.

As usual, Tom started on the mound for Shady Characters. He rolled through the top of the first, retiring Brian and Turbo in order.

Brian took the mound for Jack Shack, and Shady Characters got to him early. He allowed a one-out triple to Mike, and Tom provided his own run support, driving in Mike with an RBI single to make the score 1-0. Brian then retired Jason to strand Tom, ending the inning.

Tom continued to pitch effectively in the top of the second, sending Dustin and Josh down in order.

Dylan hit a one-out single in the bottom of the second, and Mike drove him in with an RBI double, putting Shady Characters ahead 2-0. Brian then retired Tom to end the inning, stranding Mike.

Having reached his innings limit for the week, Tom was removed from the mound, and Lucas entered the game in relief. He retired the first two batters he faced in the top of the third, Brian and Turbo, and Jack Shack was hitless through three innings.

Brian pitched his first scoreless inning in the bottom of the third, retiring Jason and Lucas, and the score remained 2-0.

Jack Shack got their first hit in the top of the fourth, but they couldn’t capitalize. Josh hit a one-out double, but Lucas retired the next batter, Brian, to strand Josh at second, ending the inning.

Shady Characters added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Mike continued his hot start to the 2021 season, hitting a solo homer, making the score 3-0. Brian then retired Tom to end the inning.

Down three runs, Jack Shack finally showed a spark in the top of the fifth. Turbo led off the inning with a solo homer, cutting the score to 3-1. Dustin followed with a double, and two batters later, Brian hit a two-run shot, tying the game at 3-3. Lucas retired Turbo to end the inning, and after trailing for four innings, Jack Shack had drawn even.

Brian retired the side in order in the bottom of the fifth, sending Jason and Lucas down consecutively.

Josh doubled with one out in the top of the sixth, putting the go-ahead run in scoring position, but Lucas buckled down, retiring Brian to strand Josh at second, ending the inning.

Shady Characters had a similar fate in the bottom of the sixth. Mike doubled with one out, putting the winning run on second, but Brian cracked down, retiring Tom to strand him at second, ending the inning, and sending the game to extra innings.

Lucas remained in the game for Shady Characters, and in the seventh, he retired Turbo and Dustin in order.

Brian also remained in the game for Jack Shack. Jack Shack made a surprising move to start the bottom of the seventh, intentionally walking Jason to put the winning run on base with no outs. Brian retired Lucas for the first out of the inning, but then allowed a one-out single to Dylan. Shady Characters had runners on the corners with one out and their best hitter, Mike coming to the plate. The intentional walk seemed like a questionable move, but Jack Shack proved the doubters wrong. Brian retired Mike, stranding both runners, and ending the inning, sending the game to the eighth.

Lucas struck out Josh to start the top of the eighth, and then retired Brian, as the score remained tied at 3-3.

Shady Characters had been held scoreless for three consecutive innings, but the streak would end in the bottom of the eighth. Tom led off the inning with a solo homer to right-center, as he and Shady Characters walked off with a 4-3 extra innings win.

The win moved Shady Characters to 5-1 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 1-4.

Shady Characters Storm Past Cheap Goats 11-3 to Move Into Tie for First Place

Mike, Tom, and Jason each had four hits, including Mike’s three homers and Tom and Jason’s three doubles, as Shady Characters handed Cheap Goats their first loss of the season, winning 11-3. The win moved Shady Characters into a tie for first place in the EWL standings with Cheap Goats.

Shady Characters put their ace, Tom on the mound, and he fell behind Cheap Goats early. Brett led off with a double, and he moved to third when Joey followed with a single. With no outs and runners on the corners, Jordan grounded out to left, but Brett scored on the play, putting Cheap Goats ahead 1-0. Tom then stranded Joey at second, retiring Christian to end the inning.

Tom would get all of the run support he would need from his offense in the bottom of the first. Dylan led off with a triple, and Mike followed with a two-run blast, putting Shady Characters in front 2-1. Tom and Jason each singled, and after Lucas grounded out for the first out of the inning, Dylan cleared the bases with an RBI triple, making the score 4-1. Mike then crushed his second homer of the inning, another two-run shot, and Shady Characters led 6-1. Cheap Goats starter, Christian, finally escaped the inning, retiring Tom for the second out.

Cheap Goats got one run back in the top of the second. With one out, Brett hit a solo homer to right-center, making the score 6-2. Tom avoided further damage, retiring Joey to end the inning.

Christian pulled things together in the bottom of the second, retiring Jason and Lucas consecutively, and the score remained 6-2.

Tom matched Christian in the top of the third, sending Jordan and Christian down in order.

Miller led off the top of the sixth with a solo homer, narrowing the deficit to 11-3. But the Cheap Goats comeback bid would end there. Tom retired Brett and Joey to end the inning, giving Shady Characters the 11-3 win.

The win moved Shady Characters to 4-1 on the season, and the loss dropped Cheap Goats to 4-1 on the season, with the two teams tied for first in the EWL standings.
