Jack Shack Storm Back to Even Series Against Cheap Goats with 7-3 Game Two Win

All four Jack Shack players scored, Brian homered twice, and Turbo drove in three runs as Jack Shack won game two of their first round series with Cheap Goats 7-3. After scoring only a single run in game one, the Jack Shack offense responded, scoring runs in every inning but one. Cheap Goats rallied late led by Joey and Brett, but it was too little too late, and the best-of-five first round series is tied at one game apiece.

Dinger started on the mound for Cheap Goats, and he got into trouble early. After retiring Adam to start the game, he allowed a one-out double to Josh. Turbo followed with an inside-the-park homer fueled by Cheap Goats throwing errors, and Jack Shack led 2-0. Brian followed with a solo homer, and the back-to-back homers made the score 3-0. Cheap Goats made a quick change at the mound, bringing Christian in from the bullpen. He retired the first batter he faced, Adam, ending the inning.

Brian started for Jack Shack, and after allowing a leadoff double to Brett, he retired Joey and Miller, stranding Brett at second, ending the inning.

Christian retired the side in order in the top of the second, sending Josh D and Turbo down consecutively.

Brian matched him in the bottom of the second, retiring Jordan and Christian in order.

After retiring Brian for the first out of the inning, Christian allowed a one-out single to Adam. Josh D followed with a single, putting runners on the corners. Turbo singled, scoring Adam, and Jack Shack had a 4-0 lead. Jack Shack had runners on the corners again, but Christian avoided further damage, retiring Brian to strand both runners, ending the inning.

Cheap Goats threatened in the bottom of the third, but Brian worked his way out of a jam. Brett singled with one out, and he moved from first to third when Joey followed with a double. Cheap Goats had two runners in scoring position, but Brian retired Miller, stranding both runners and maintaining the four-run lead.

Adam doubled to start the top of the fourth, and he scored from second when Josh D grounded out to right for the first out of the inning. Christian then retired Turbo to end the inning, and Jack Shack was in front 5-0.

Brian had reached his innings limit for the week, and Adam replaced in on the mound in the bottom of the fourth. Christian singled with one out, and he moved from first to third when Dinger followed with a double. Cheap Goats once again had two runners in scoring position, and once again, Brian escaped. He retired Brett to end the inning, leaving two runners on, and Jack Shack continued to lead by five runs.

Brian led off the top of the fifth with a solo shot to left, putting Jack Shack ahead 6-0. Christian retired the next two batters, Adam and Josh D, ending the inning.

Cheap Goats would get on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Joey led off the inning with a double, and Miller followed with an RBI single, scoring Joey from second to make the score 6-1. Adam retired the next two batters, Jordan and Christian, stranding Miller at first and ending the inning.

Jack Shack added one final insurance run in the top of the seventh. Turbo led off with a double, and scored from second when Brian grounded out for the first out of the inning. Christian retired Adam to end the inning, and Cheap Goats trailed 7-1.

Dinger led off the bottom of the sixth with a single, and he moved from first to third when Brett followed with a single. Joey also singled, scoring Dinger from third, and the Jack Shack lead was cut to 7-2. Adam retired Miller for the first out of the inning, and Brett scored on the play, making the score 7-3. The Cheap Goats rally would end there, as Adam retired Jordan for the second out of the inning, stranding Joey at second, and giving Jack Shack a 7-3 win.

The win evened the best-of-five series at one game each heading into game three.

Tom’s Walk-Off Three-Run Homer Lifts Shady Characters to Surprising Game One Victory Over Guacamol-yay

Guacamol-yay was the better team for six and a half innings in game one of their best-of-five first round series, but Shady Characters hung around, stranded Guacamol-yay runners, and in the bottom of the seventh, walked off with a win when Tom hit a three-run bomb to end it. Despite getting out-hit eight to three heading into the bottom of the seventh, Shady Characters escaped game one with a win and took an early lead in the first round series.

Tom took the mound for Shady Characters, and he got out of trouble early and often. After allowing a leadoff double to Kyle, Jude hit a sacrifice fly, moving Kyle to third with one out. Tom stranded him, however, retiring Josh K to end the inning.

Josh K started for Guacamol-yay and he was in command. He retired Dylan and Mike in order in the bottom of the first.

Sean led off the top of the second with a single, but Tom retired the next two batters, Jan and Kyle, stranding him and ending the inning.

Josh K rolled through the bottom of the second, retiring Tom and Jason in order.

Guacamol-yay took the lead in the top of the third. Jude led off with a double, and Josh K drove him in with an RBI double, putting Guacamol-yay in front 1-0. The next batter, Sean, hit a single, putting runners on first and second with no outs. Tom got Jan to fly out for the first out of the inning, and when Kyle followed with a single, Josh K was pegged out at home, ending the inning, as Guacamol-yay managed to strand three runners in the inning.

Josh K once again cruised in the bottom of the third, sending Lucas and Dylan down consecutively.

Jude led off the top of the fourth with a single, but Tom stranded his sixth runner of the game so far, retiring Josh K and Sean to end the inning, and the score remained 1-0.

Josh K retired Mike and Tom in order, and he had retired the first eight batters of the game without allowing a baserunner.

Kyle singled with one out in the top of the fifth, but Guacamol-yay couldn’t add an insurance run. Tom retired Jude to strand Kyle at first, ending the inning.

Shady Characters broke up the no-hitter and tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. Lucas hit a one-out single, ending Josh K’s no-hit bit, which had made it nine hitters into the game. Dylan followed with an RBI triple, scoring Lucas, and the game was tied at 1-1. Josh K retired Mike to end the inning, stranding Dylan at third, and the game was even heading into the sixth.

After allowing at least one hit in each of the first five innings, Tom retired the side in order in the top of the sixth, sending Josh K and Sean down consecutively.

Jason doubled with one out in the bottom of the sixth, putting the winning run in scoring position. Josh K escaped, however, retiring Lucas to strand the runner, sending the game to extra-innings.

Tom continued to pitch effectively into the extra-innings, retiring Jan and Kyle in order in the top of the seventh.

Josh K remained on the mound for Guacamol-yay in the extra innings as well. He allowed a leadoff double to the first batter he faced, Dylan, putting the winning run in scoring position. Despite holding him hitless in his first three at-bats, MVP candidate Mike was intentionally walked, putting runners on first and second with outs. Tom came to the plate, and he launched a three-run homer to deep right-center field, and his walkoff shot ended the game, giving Shady Characters the 4-1 victory.

The win put Shady Characters ahead 1-0 in the best-of-five first round series with Guacamol-yay.
