Dylan, who went 4-for-5 with a single, two doubles, and a homer, congratulates Mike as he rounds third after his two-run homer in the bottom of the third put Shady Characters up eleven runs.
The first three hitters in Shady Characters’ lineup, Dylan, Mike, and Tom, went a combined 11-for-14 with eight extra-base hits, and all three players went deep as Shady Characters crushed Jack Shack 12-2. Tom pitched the complete game, allowing two runs on six hits, and Shady Characters continued to separate from the rest of the league heading into the thick of the second half of the season.
Tom rolled through the top of the first, retiring Rob and Adam in order.
Jack Shack’s starter, Josh, fell behind early in the bottom of the first. Shady Characters’ first batter, Dylan, went deep, and his third leadoff homer of the 2022 season made the score 1-0. Mike doubled and moved to third on Tom’s sacrifice fly. Jason then doubled, scoring Mike, and Shady Characters led 2-0. Josh retired Lucas for the second out of the inning.
Tom once again cruised in the top of the second, sending Josh and Austin down in order.
Dylan led off the bottom of the second with a single, and he moved to third when Mike followed with a double. Tom then tripled, emptying the bases, and Shady Characters were in front 4-0. Josh got Jason to ground out for the first out of the inning, but Tom scored on the play, and the score was 5-0. Lucas grounded out to left, ending the inning, and Shady Characters were up five runs.
Tom went 3-for-4 with a single, a triple, a home run, three runs scored, and three RBI, and he also pitched the complete game win, as Shady Characters moved to 12-1 on the season with a 12-2 win over Jack Shack.
Brian started the top of the third with a double, but when Rob followed with a double, Brian was thrown out trying to score at home for the first out of the inning. Tom then retired Adam, stranding Rob at second, and ending the inning.
Dylan led off the bottom of the third with a double, but when Mike followed with a single, he was thrown out trying to score at home. Tom singled with one out, putting runners on first and second. Jason doubled, scoring Mike, and the lead was extended to 6-0. Lucas then crushed a three-run shot to right, and Shady Characters had taken a commanding 9-0 lead. Dylan doubled, and Mike drove him in with a two-run bomb, making the score 11-0. Josh finally escaped the inning, retiring Tom for the second out.
Lucas’s three-run homer in the bottom of the third gave Shady Characters a nine-run lead.
Jack Shack got on the board in the top of the fourth when Josh led off the inning with a solo homer. Tom retired the next two batters, Austin and Brian, and the score was 11-1.
Jason and Lucas each singled to start the bottom of the fourth, but Josh stranded them, retiring Dylan and Mike to end the inning scoreless, and Jack Shack continued to trail by ten runs.
Jason went 3-for-5 with a single, two doubles, a run scored, and two RBI in the Shady Characters win.
Adam singled with one out in the top of the fifth, but Tom stranded him, retiring Josh for the second out of the inning.
Tom led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo homer, pushing the Shady Characters lead to 12-1. Josh retired Jason and Lucas to end the inning, and Jack Shack were behind by eleven runs heading into the final frame.
Brian doubled with one out in the top of the sixth, and Rob followed with a double, scoring Brian to cut the deficit to 12-2. Tom ended things there though, retiring Adam to strand Rob at second, giving Shady Characters a 12-2 victory.
The win moved Shady Characters to 12-1 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 4-9.
