Reilly continued his dominant season on the mound, pitching a 5-0 shutout of the Ham Slams as Questionable Outfit maintained their claim of first place in the standings at the season’s halfway mark.

Seth led off the top of the first by flying out to center, but Steve hit a one-out triple for the Ham Slams. Charlie was unable to drive him in, as Reilly retired him to end the inning, stranding the runner.

Reilly led off the bottom of the first with a single, but Charlie would retire Bob and Chris in order, and the score remained 0-0.

Reilly fanned Seth to start the top of the second, and retired Steve for the second out of the inning.

Questionable Outfit would pull ahead in the bottom of the second with a big inning. Reilly hit a solo homer to lead off, making the score 1-0. Bob followed with a single and scored when Chris hit a two-run homer, the first of his career, and the score was 3-0. Reilly singled for his second hit of the inning and moved to third when Bob doubled. Chris would then single, scoring Reilly to make the score 4-0 with no outs and runners on the corners. Reilly grounded out for the first out of the inning, but Bob scored from third on the play, putting Questionable Outfit ahead 5-0. The big inning would end there, as Bob flew out for the second out, but Questionable had taken a commanding lead.

Reilly cruised through the top of the third, retiring the side in order. Charlie did the same in the bottom of the third.

Steve led off the top of the fourth with a triple, but as he tried to extend the hit to an inside-the-park homer, Questionable Outfit got the ball to Chris on the mound for the first out of the inning, and the Slams didn’t score the run. Charlie would then ground out for the second out of the inning.

Questionable wouldn’t add to their lead in the bottom of the fourth, as they went down in order.

Reilly retired Seth for the first out in the top of the fifth, and for the second consecutive inning, Steve would try extending a triple into an inside-the-park homer, but was caught just shy, ending the inning.

Charlie retired Bob and Chris consecutively in the bottom of the fifth, and the score remained 5-0.

Charlie led off the top of the sixth with a single and moved to second when Seth followed with a single. Reilly would get Steve to ground out for the first out of the inning, as the runners advanced to second and third. With one out and two runners in scoring position, Reilly got Charlie to ground out, ending the inning and the game as Questionable Outfit would win 5-0.

The win moved Questionable Outfit to 8-2 on the season, while the Ham Slams finished the first half at 2-8.
