Joey hit only the fourth regular season grand slam in EWL history and drove in five more runs as Cookies & Cream stormed past Eastbound & Dahn in a rain-soaked game. This would be the final game of week 2, as the fourth game between Questionable Outfit and the Ham Slams was postponed due to wet conditions.

Cara made her first career start on the mound for Eastbound & Dahn, and she cruised through the top of the first, retiring Guthrie and Blose in order.

Eastbound took an early lead in the bottom of the first. Guthrie, Cookies & Cream’s starting pitcher, gave up a leadoff double to Nate, and he moved to third on a Christian single. Cara then grounded out for the first out of the inning, but Nate scored on the play, making the score 1-0. Guthrie buckled down, retiring BK to strand Christian, ending the inning while only allowing a single run.

Cookies & Cream bounced back in a big way in the top of the second, taking the lead back from Eastbound. Joey led off with a double, and he scored on a Jordan RBI single that tied the game at 1-1. After Blose hit a one-out single to put runners on first and second, Joey tripled, clearing the bases and putting Cookies ahead 3-1. Jordan then followed with his second RBI single of the inning, scoring Joey to make the score 4-1. Cara then retired Guthrie to strand Jordan, ending the inning.

Guthrie rolled through the bottom of the second, retiring Kyle and Nate in order to maintain the three-run lead.

Eastbound & Dahn pulled Cara from the mound in the top of the third, switching to BK. He retired Blose and Joey in order, and the score remained 4-1.

Christian started the bottom of the third with a double, but Eastbound couldn’t cut into the Cookies lead, as Guthrie retired Cara and BK to strand the runner and end the inning.

Guthrie got some more run support from his offense in the top of the fourth. He tripled with one out, and Blose knocked him in with an RBI single, making the score 5-1. Joey then doubled, scoring Blose, and Cookies led 6-1. BK avoided further damage, retiring Jordan to end the inning.

Down five, Eastbound would cut into the deficit in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Nate launched a solo shot to left-center, and the score was 6-2. Christian followed with a single, and he moved to second on a Cara single. BK then singled, and Eastbound had the bases loaded with one out. Helal came to the plate as the tying run, and he is also one of the only players in EWL to hit a grand slam (which he did in the playoffs). Guthrie’s back was against the wall, but Eastbound couldn’t capitalize, as Kyle grounded out to Blose in left for the second out of the inning, stranding all three runners.

Eastbound put Cara back on the mound in the top of the fifth, and Guthrie provided his own run support, leading off the inning with a solo homer. Cara then retired Blose and Joey to end the inning, and Cookies led 7-2.

Guthrie retired the side in order in the top of the fifth, retiring Nate and Christian consecutively.

Cookies led by five heading into the final frame, and they would blow the game open in the top of the sixth. Jordan led off with a single, and he moved to second when Guthrie followed with a single. Blose then singled, and for the second time in the game, a team had the bases loaded. This time Joey came to the plate, one of two players in EWL history to hit a regular season grand slam. He launched a high fly to left field, and it cleared the fence and the bases, putting Cookies & Cream ahead 11-2. The grand slam was the third of Joey’s career, and Cookies wasn’t done yet. Jordan singled, and Guthrie followed with a two-run shot, making the score 13-2. Blose followed with a single, and Joey hit his second blast of the inning, a two-run homer that put Cookies ahead 15-2. Cara had yet to record an out, and Cookies had scored eight runs. She finally retired Jordan for the first out of the inning, and after it looked like Cookies would continue the onslaught when Guthrie and Blose each singled, she retired Joey for the second out of the inning. She stranded two runners, but Eastbound had fallen behind by thirteen runs.

Guthrie would close things out in the bottom of the sixth. BK singled with one out, but Kyle grounded out to center for the second out of the inning, giving Cookies & Cream the win.

The win moved Cookies & Cream to 4-0, and Eastbound fell to 0-4 on the season.
