Mike’s walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth ended one of the best games of the 2021 with Shady Characters winning 9-7
In one of the best games of the 2021 season, Jack Shack and Shady Characters went back and forth for six innings before Mike won the game with a two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the sixth inning. Tom and Jason each contributed three hits for Shady Characters, and Tom pitched the complete game win. Josh had four extra-base hits in the loss for Jack Shack, and both teams had eleven hits each. The win clinched the #1 seed in the 2021 playoffs for Shady Characters. They now hold a four game lead in the league standings and hold the advantage with any tiebreakers that could come into play.
Turbo went 3-for-6 with two singles and a double
Jack Shack took an early lead in the top of the first. Turbo singled with one out, and Josh D drove him in with an RBI double. Tom retired Doc to end the inning, and Jack Shack led 1-0.

Shady Characters stormed back and took the lead in the bottom of the second. Tom led off the inning with a double, and he moved to third when Jason followed with a double. Josh D got Lucas to ground out to left for the first out of the inning, and Tom scored on the play to put Shady Characters on the board. The next batter, Dylan, cleared the bases with a two-run homer, giving Shady Characters a 3-2 lead. Josh then retired Mike to end the inning.

Jack Shack evened things up in the top of the third. Adam led off with a triple, and Turbo drove him in with an RBI double, tying the game at 3-3. The next batter, Josh, grounded out to Lucas in right, and Lucas gunned down Turbo, who was trying to score on the play, ending the inning.
Shady Characters pulled back ahead in the bottom of the third. Tom led off with a triple, and Jason drove him in with an RBI single. Josh retired the next two batters, Lucas and Dylan, ending the inning, and Shady Characters led 4-3.

Jack Shack reclaimed the lead in the top of the fourth. Doc doubled to start the inning, and he moved to third when Adam followed with a single. Turbo singled, loading the bases for Josh D. Josh and Jack Shack capitalized, as Josh hit a grand slam to right field, putting Jack Shack in front 7-4. The controversial grand slam, which involved the right field tree, was only the seventh in league history. Josh became the fifth player to ever hit a grand slam, and 2021 is the first season in league history with multiple grand slams. Tom retired the next two batters, Doc and Adam, to end the inning, and Jack Shack led by four runs.

Shady Characters wasted no time making up the runs, pulling even once again in the bottom of the fourth. Mike led off with a double, and Tom provided his own run support, launching a two-run homer to right-center, making the score 7-6. Jason singled, and two batters later, Dylan hit a one-out double to score him, tying the game at 7-7. Josh then retired Mike to end the inning.
Josh hit a one-out double in the top of the fifth, but for the first time in the game, Tom escaped unscathed, retiring Doc to strand Josh at second, ending the inning.

Josh matched Tom in the bottom of the fifth, retiring Tom and Jason in order, and the game was tied at 7-7 heading into the sixth inning.

Lucas singled to lead off the bottom of the sixth, putting the winning run on base. Josh got Dylan to ground out to right, moving Lucas to second. The next batter, Mike, had struggled in the game despite being the most productive hitter in the league in 2021. Jack Shack elected to pitch to him, and he made them pay. He launched a two-run homer to right-center, and the walk-off homer gave Shady Characters a 9-7 win. The walkoff homer was the second in the league in 2021 and the first of Mike’s career.

The win moved Shady Characters to 12-4 on the season with a four game lead for first place. It also clinched the #1 seed in the 2021 playoffs for Shady Characters. Jack Shack fell to 7-9 on the season.
