Miller Homers Four Times to Lead Cheap Goats to 11-8 Victory Over Guac Boys

Miller fell just one homer (and one base) short of the single-game EWL record for home runs, swatting four bombs in Cheap Goats 11-8 win over the Guac Boys

Miller went 5-for-6 with four homers, driving in six of Cheap Goats’ eleven runs and leading his team to an 11-8 win. Both teams combined for four total runs through four innings, before the teams combined for fifteen runs across the final two innings, during which Cheap Goats pulled away. Joey also went deep twice, and Dinger earned the win on the mound as the Cheap Goats clawed within a game of .500 on the season.

Alec took the mound for the Guac Boys, and after retiring Joey, the first batter of the game, he allowed a solo homer to Miller, putting Cheap Goats up 1-0. Alec then retired Christian to end the inning.

Dinger started for Cheap Goats, and after allowing a one-out double to Alec, he retired Brum to strand the runner, ending the inning.

Alec cruised through the top of the second, retiring Dinger and Joey in order.

Form led off the bottom of the second with a solo homer, tying the score at 1-1. Dinger then retired Tone and Bohn to end the inning.

Miller tripled to start the top of the third, but he was caught out trying to extend the hit into an inside-the-park homer. Alec then retired Christian to end the inning, and the score remained 1-1.

Dinger continued to pitch effectively in the bottom of the third, sending Alec and Brum down consecutively.

Cheap Goats took the lead in the top of the fourth when Joey hit a one-out solo homer, making the score 2-1. Miller followed with his second blast of the game, and the back-to-back jacks gave Cheap Goats a 3-1 lead. Alec retired Christian to end the inning, and the Guac Boys trailed by two.

Dinger rolled through the bottom of the fourth, retiring Form and Tone, and through four innings, he had allowed only two hits.

Cheap Goats took a commanding lead in the top of the fifth. Dinger singled, and two batters later, Miller hit his third homer of the game, a two-run shot that extended the Cheap Goats lead to 5-1. Christian doubled, and Dinger provided his own run support, hitting a two-run homer than made the score 7-1. Joey then doubled, and Miller hit his second bomb of the inning and fourth of the game, putting Cheap Goats in front 9-1. Alec finally escaped the inning, retiring Christian for the second out, and Cheap Goats led by eight runs.

The Guac Boys responded in the bottom of the fifth, chipping away at the Cheap Goats lead. Bohn singled, and Alec drove him in with a two-run homer, cutting the score to 9-3. Brum then singled, and Form went deep for the second time in the contest, narrowing the Cheap Goats lead to 9-5. Cheap Goats turned to the bullpen, bringing Christian to the mound. He retired the first two batter he faced, Tone and Bohn, ending the inning.

Cheap Goats added a few insurance runs in the top of the sixth. Dinger doubled, and Joey followed with his second homer of the game, a two-run shot that put Cheap Goats ahead 11-5. Alec retired Miller and Christian to end the inning, and the Guac Boys trailed by six runs heading into their final at-bat.

The Guac Boys made things interesting in the bottom of the sixth. Alec singled, and he scored from first when Brum followed with a single, making the score 11-6. Two batters later, Tone hit a one-out two-run homer, and the Guac Boys trailed 11-8. The rally would end there, however, as Christian got Bohn to ground out to center, ending the inning and the game, giving Cheap Goats an 11-8 victory.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 6-7 on the year, and the loss dropped the Guac Boys to 6-7.
