Bob Leads Questionable Outfit to 7-2 Win Over Cookies & Cream, Extend First Place Lead

Bob retired eleven of the first thirteen Cookies & Cream batters he faced, earning the complete game win for Questionable Outfit. He also had three extra-base hits in the game.

Questionable Outfit tightened their grip on first place in the EWL standings with a 7-2 win over Cookies & Cream in week 5. Bob pitched the complete game win, allowing only two runs on four hits, and also went 3-for-6 with a double, a triple, and a home run. Tom and Miller also homered for Questionable Outfit, and the loss pushed Cookies & Cream back to .500 and into a tie for second with the Ham Slams.

Jordan took the mound for Cookies & Cream, and the very first batter he faced, Bob, blasted a solo homer to right, putting Questionable Outfit ahead 1-0. Jordan wasn’t phased, however, as he then retired Tom and Rairigh to end the inning without allowing further damage.

Bob allowed a one-out double to Guthrie in the bottom of the first, but Cookies couldn’t tie the game, as Erich was retired for the second out of the inning, stranding the runner at second.

Jordan rolled through the top of the second, retiring Miller and Bob in order. Bob matched him in the bottom half of the inning, as he sent down Joey and Jordan consecutively.

Questionable would add a run to their lead in the top of the third. Rairigh doubled with one out, and he scored from second on a Miller RBI single that put Questionable ahead 2-0. Bob followed with a double, putting runners on second and third with one out, but Jordan retired Tom, stranding two runners and ending the inning.

Bob continued to mow through Cookies in the bottom of the third, retiring Guthrie and Erich in order.

Jordan pitched another solid frame in the top of the fourth, retiring Rairigh and Miller consecutively. Bob did the same in the bottom of the fourth, retiring Joey and Jordan, making it eight out of the first nine hitters that he had faced.

Up 2-0, Questionable added another insurance run in the top of the fifth. With one out, Tom crushed a solo homer to left, and Questionable had pulled ahead 3-0. Jordan then retired Rairigh to end the inning.

Rairigh makes a leaping catch in left field. He had seven putouts in addition to two doubles and two runs scored.

Erich would single with one out in the bottom of the fifth, but Cookies couldn’t advance him, as Bob retired Joey to strand the runner at first and end the inning.

Up 3-0, Questionable would take a commanding lead in the top of the sixth. Bob tripled with one out, and he scored when Tom followed with an RBI double, making the score 4-0. Rairigh then doubled to score Tom, and Questionable led 5-0. Miller followed with a two-run home run, and Questionable had pulled ahead 7-0. Jordan ended the inning by retiring Bob, and Cookies trailed by seven runs heading into their final at-bat.

Cookies had only reached base safely twice through the first five innings, but they showed some life in the bottom of the sixth. Guthrie homered with one out to make the score 7-1, and Erich followed with a solo shot, so that the back-to-back homers had cut the Questionable lead to 7-2. The rally would end short of a miracle, however, as Bob buckled down, retiring Joey for the second out of the inning, ending the game.

The win moved Questionable Outfit to 8-2 on the year, and the loss dropped Cookies & Cream to 5-5.

Guthrie’s Dominant Pitching Performance Leads Cookies & Cream to 3-1 Win Over Ham Slams

Guthrie, who allowed only two hits in a complete game win, delivers a pitch to Josh of the Ham Slams

Guthrie scattered only two hits over six innings, earning a complete game win, and also went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Cookies & Cream past the Ham Slams. EWL veteran Joey hit his first home run of the 2017 season and went 2-for-4 as Cookies & Cream took hold of second place in the standings.

Guthrie cruised through the top of the first, retiring Dan and Dustin in order. He tripled with one out in the bottom of the first, but Cookies couldn’t drive him in, as Erich was retired for the second out, stranding the runner.

Guthrie continued to roll in the top of the second, sending Josh and Steve down consecutively, and he would get all of the run support he would need in the bottom half of the inning.

Joey led off the inning with a solo homer, putting Cookies & Cream ahead 1-0. Jordan followed with a single, and Guthrie drove him in with his second consecutive triple of the game, making the score 2-0. Two batters later, Joey hit a one-out double, scoring Guthrie from third, and Cookies led 3-0. Josh, the Ham Slams starter, then retired Jordan for the second out, ending the Cookies rally.

Dan led off the top of the third with a triple, but Guthrie buckled down and retired Dustin and Josh with short fly outs, stranding the runner and ending the inning.

Guthrie led off the bottom of the third with a single, and he moved from first to third on an Erich double. Joey came to the plate with no outs and two runners in scoring position. He flew out to Steve in deep left field foul territory, and when Guthrie tried to tag and score on the play, Steve pegged him, completing the double play.

Guthrie continued to deal in the top of the fourth, sending Steve and Dan down in order, and he had retired eight of the first nine batters that he had faced.

Jordan led off the bottom of the fourth with a single, but was caught trying to extend the hit into a double, making the first out of the inning. Josh then retired Guthrie to end the inning.

The Ham Slams would get on the board in the top of the fifth, when Josh provided his own run support. With one out, he crushed a solo homer to right, making the score 3-1. Guthrie got the next batter, Steve, to fly out to the mound, and the Slams trailed by two runs.

Josh retired the Cookies & Cream side in order in the bottom of the fifth, sending Erich and Joey down, and the Slams would need two runs in the top of the sixth to extend the game.

Guthrie remained on the mound, and he made quick work of the Ham Slams. Dan grounded out to left for the first out of the inning, and Guthrie struck out Dustin for the second out of the inning, ending the game with the score 3-1.

The win moved Cookies & Cream to 5-4 on the season, and the loss dropped the Ham Slams to 4-5.

Erich Hits for Cycle as Cookies & Cream Roll Past Eastbound & Dahn 15-1

Erich hit for the cycle for the first time in his career, going 6-for-8 and driving in six runs.

Erich hit for the cycle for the first time in his career, going 6-for-8 with a single, a double, two triples, and two homers, as he helped lead Cookies & Cream to a 15-1 victory over Eastbound & Dahn. Jordan continued to swing a hot bat for Cookies, going 6-for-8 with two singles, two doubles, and two homers, and he also pitched a complete game win, allowing only one run on five hits.

BK took the mound for Eastbound, and he was hit early and often, receiving little help from the defense behind him. Jordan led off the game with a single, and he moved from first to third on a Guthrie double, which put two runners in scoring position. Erich followed with a three-run blast that immediately put Cookies & Cream ahead 3-0. BK fanned the next batter, Joey, and then retired Jordan to end the inning.

Jordan started for Cookies & Cream, and after allowing a one-out double to Christian in the bottom of the first, he retired Nate C to strand the runner and end the inning.

Cookies would add to their lead in the top of the second. Erich tripled with one out, and Joey drove him in with an RBI double that made the score 4-0. Jordan followed with a two-run homer, and Cookies led 6-0. Guthrie singled and moved from first to third on an Erich double, putting two runners in scoring position with one out, but BK got Joey to fly out to left, stranding both runners and ending the inning.

Jordan rolled through the bottom of the second, retiring BK and Kyle in order to end the inning.

The Cookies onslaught continued in the top of the third, as they would add three more runs to their lead. Jordan led off the inning with a single, and Guthrie drove him in with an RBI double that made the score 7-0. Erich followed with a triple, his second of the game, scoring Guthrie to extend the Cookies lead to 8-0. BK struck out Joey for the second time in the game, but Jordan followed with a one-out double, scoring Erich and Cookies led 9-0. Guthrie flew out for the second out of the inning, and Cookies had pulled out to a nine-run lead.

Jordan retired the side in order again in the bottom of the third, sending Nate O and Christian down consecutively.

Cookies would score yet again in the top of the fourth. Joey hit a one-out triple, and Jordan drove him in with his second two-run homer of the game. BK retired Guthrie to end the inning, and Cookies & Cream now led 11-0.

BK singled with one out in the bottom of the fourth, but Eastbound couldn’t generate a rally, as Jordan retired Kyle to strand the runner and end the inning.

For the fifth consecutive inning, Cookies & Cream would add to their lead in the top of the fifth. Erich singled to start the inning, and after BK struck out Joey for the third time in the game, Jordan doubled to put two runners in scoring position with one out. Guthrie followed with an RBI triple, clearing the bases and putting Cookies & Cream ahead 13-0. Erich continued to dominate, crushing a two-run homer, his second blast of the game, and Cookies led 15-0. BK got Joey to fly out for the second out of the inning, and Eastbound trailed by fifteen runs.

Jordan pitched the complete game for Cookies & Cream, allowing only one run over six innings. He also went 6-for-8 with four extra-base hits.

Eastbound would get on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Christian doubled with one out, and Nate C drove him in with an RBI single, cutting the score to 15-1. Jordan would end the rally there, however, getting BK to ground out to left, ending the inning and stranding the runner.

After scoring at least two runs in each of the first five innings, Cookies would go scoreless for the first time in the game in the top of the sixth. Guthrie hit a one-out double, but BK stranded him at second, retiring Erich to end the inning.

Kyle led off the bottom of the sixth with a single, but Eastbound couldn’t generate enough offense to make the game interesting. Jordan retired Nate O and Christian, stranding Kyle and ending the inning and the game, giving Cookies & Cream a 15-1 victory.

The win moved Cookies & Cream to 4-4 on the season, and the loss dropped Eastbound & Dahn to 2-6.

Ham Slams Shock Cookies & Cream with Incredible Comeback to Win 8-7 in Extras

Josh and Steve helped lead one of the most incredible comebacks in EWL history as the Ham Slams, down to their last out, rallied from 7-0 to win in extra innings

The Ham Slams completed one of the most remarkable come-from-behind victories in the history of the EWL, as Cookies & Cream choked away a seven-run lead, eventually losing to the Ham Slams 8-7 in extra innings. Cookies & Cream had dominated the game and were one out away from a shutout victory before the Ham Slams scored seven unanswered runs to send the game to extra-innings. The Ham Slams eventually won the game with a walk-off home run by Steve in the bottom of the eighth, the first walkoff in the EWL since 2015.

Steve started on the mound for the Ham Slams, and he got off to a good start, retiring Jordan and Guthrie in order in the top of the first.

Guthrie took the mound for Cookies & Cream, and after allowing a leadoff double to Josh, he retired Dan and Steve to strand the runner and end the inning.

Cookies would take the lead in the top of the second when Erich led off the inning with a solo shot to right, making the score 1-0. Joey followed with a double, but Steve buckled down, retiring Jordan and Guthrie to strand the runner and end the inning after allowing only one run.

Josh doubled again in the bottom of the second, this time with out one, and once again he was stranded at second, as Guthrie retired Dan to end the inning and maintain the 1-0 lead.

Steve cruised through the bottom of the second, retiring Erich before striking out Joey to end the inning. Guthrie matched him in the bottom of the third, sending Steve and Levi down in order.

Cookies & Cream would open up a substantial lead in the top of the fourth. Jordan led off with a triple, and Guthrie drove him in with a two-run homer to left, putting Cookies ahead 3-0. Two batters later, Joey tripled, and he scored on a Jordan RBI double that made the score 4-0. Guthrie then singled, scoring Jordan from second, and the score was 5-0. Erich came to the plate and crushed a two-run bomb, his second homer of the game, and Cookies had pulled ahead 7-0. Steve retired Joey for the second run of the inning, and the six-run inning had put Cookies & Cream ahead by seven.

Guthrie continued to roll in the bottom of the fourth, sending Josh and Dan down in order, and the score remained 7-0.

The Ham Slams removed Steve from the mound and turned to Dan heading into the top of the fifth. He allowed a leadoff single to Jordan, but when Guthrie flew out for the first out of the inning, Jordan was doubled up in between first and second, ending the inning.

Guthrie continued to mow down Ham Slams hitters in the bottom of the fifth, retiring Steve and Levi consecutively to end the inning.

Erich singled to lead off the top of the sixth, but Cookies & Cream couldn’t add any additional runs, as Dan retired Joey and Jordan to strand Erich and end the inning.

Guthrie remained on the mound in the bottom of the sixth to close things out, and retired the first batter he faced, Josh, for the first out of the inning. Then, the wheels fell off. In one of the most epic collapses in EWL history, one out away from victory, Cookies & Cream allowed the Ham Slams to reach base safely in seven straight at-bats. With one out, Dan doubled, and he scored from second on a Steve RBI single that put the Ham Slams on the board, making the score 7-1. Levi, subbing in for the Ham Slams, then hit a two-run homer to right, making the score 7-3. After Josh and Dan each singled, Steve came to the plate and crushed a three-run homer to center, and the Ham Slams had cut the lead to 7-6. After allowing two hits against the first thirteen batters he faced, Guthrie had allowed six straight hits and the Slams were within a run of tying the game. Cookies & Cream turned to the bullpen, bringing Jordan to the mound to relieve Guthrie. The first batter he faced, Levi, strolled to the plate and hit his second homer of the inning, a floating solo-shot to right, and the Ham Slams had tied the game at 7-7. After seven consecutive hits and seven consecutive runs, the Ham Slams were a run away from winning the game. The magic would end there, however, for the moment, as Jordan retired Josh, who flew out to left, ending the inning.

Dan, who earned the in for the Ham Slams in relief, also went 2-for-6 at the plate with a single and a double. Both hits came during the dramatic bottom-of-the-sixth Ham Slams rally.

Cookies & Cream, dazed from the remarkable turn of events in the bottom of the sixth, went down in order in the top of the seventh, as Dan retired Guthrie and Erich to end the inning.

Jordan remained on the mound for Cookies & Cream, and he retired the first batter he faced, Dan. Steve came to the plate, and he would dramatically end one of the most exciting regular season games in EWL history. He hit a towering fly ball to right that barely cleared the fence, and his walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh gave the Ham Slams an unbelievable 8-7 win in extra innings.

The win moved the Ham Slams to 3-4 on the season, and the loss dropped Cookies & Cream to 3-4.

Cookies & Cream Rally to Hand Questionable Outfit First Loss of Season

Cookies & Cream rallied in the third and fourth innings, and Jordan’s solo homer in the bottom of the fourth proved to be the deciding hit as Questionable Outfit lost for the first time in 2017.

Dinger started for Cookies & Cream, and he fell behind early as Questionable Outfit jumped out to an early lead. After Bob doubled to start the game, two batters later, Mike hit an RBI triple, making the score 1-0. Miller followed with a two-run blast, and Questionable Outfit led 3-0. Bob then doubled, but was caught trying to extend the hit into a triple, and the inning was over.

Questionable Outfit sent their ace, Miller, to the mound, and he rolled through the bottom of the first, retiring Jordan and Joey in order.

Dinger got into a groove starting in the top of the second, as he sent Tom and Mike down consecutively, and the score remained 3-0. Miller matched him in the bottom of the second, as Erich and Dinger were retired.

Dinger retired two more Questionable hitters in the top of the third, and Cookies would cut into the Questionable lead in the bottom half of the inning.

Jordan led off with a single, and moved to third when Joey followed with a double. Miller got Erich to ground out for the first out of the inning, but Jordan scored on the play, and Questionable led 3-1. Dinger followed with an RBI single, scoring Joey from third, and the lead had been cut to 3-2. Miller then retired Jordan to end the inning, and Questionable would get a run back in the top of the fourth.

Tom led off the inning with a deep solo blast to left, making the score 4-2. Dinger then sent Mike and Miller down, and he had retired six of seven Questionable hitters.

Cookies & Cream continued to fight back in the bottom of the fourth. Joey led off with a double, and Erich drove him in with a two-run shot, tying the game at 4-4. Miller retired Dinger for the first out of the inning, but Jordan followed with a solo homer, giving Cookies & Cream their first lead of the game. Miller then retired Joey to end the inning, and the score was 5-4.

Bob started the top of the fifth with a single, putting the tying runner on first, but Dinger buckled down, retiring Tom and Mike to strand the runner, ending the inning.

Miller rolled through the bottom of the fifth, retiring Erich and Dinger in order, and Questionable trailed by a run heading into their final at-bat.

Miller helped his own cause to start the top of the sixth, hitting a single, and he was the tying runner. Dinger got Bob to ground out to right for the first out of the inning, but Miller advanced to second, putting the tying runner in scoring position. Mike came to the plate, but he was unable to capitalize, as Dinger got him to fly out to center, stranding the runner and ending the inning and the game.

Cookies & Cream moved to 3-3 with the win, and Questionable Outfit dropped to 5-1.
