Steve Homers Four Times, Josh Cycles in 14-5 Ham Slams Win Over Eastbound & Dahn

Steve and Josh had incredible games to carry the Ham Slams, as they combined for 11 hits.

Steve hit four home runs, including two in the first inning, and drove in seven runs as the Ham Slams jumped out to a big lead against Eastbound & Dahn and ran away with a 14-5 win. Josh pitched the complete game win for the Slams while also hitting for the cycle, and Tom had four extra-base hits, including three homers.

Things got off to a good start for Eastbound & Dahn, as they took a lead in the top of the first right away. Mark started the game with a double, and Nate followed with a two-run homer. Josh retired BK and Helal to end the inning, and Eastbound had taken a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.

The lead didn’t last long, and the Ham Slams had a monster inning in the bottom of the first. Dustin tripled off Helal to start the inning, and Tom tied the game with a two-run homer. Josh then doubled, and Steve followed with another two-run jack for the Slams, making the score 4-2. After a Dustin single, Tom doubled to put two runners in scoring position. Josh then hit a three-run blast, the third Ham Slams homer of the inning, and they were up 7-2. Steve then homered for the second time in the inning, and the back-to-back jacks put the Hams Slams ahead 8-2 before Eastbound had even recorded an out. Helal finally got the first out of the inning when Dustin flew out to the mound, but the Ham Slams weren’t finished. Tom hit another solo homer, the fifth homer for the Ham Slams in the first inning, and the lead was 9-2. Josh followed with a single, the tenth Ham Slams hit of the inning, but the enormous inning would end there, as Helal got Steve to groundout to center, stranding the runner and ending the inning.

Josh cruised through the top of the second, retiring Mark and Nate in order.

Dustin led off the bottom of the second with a double, but the Ham Slams couldn’t put together another big inning. Helal retired Tom and Josh, ending the inning without further damage.

Eastbound added a run in the top of the third, cutting the deficit to six runs. Helal tripled with one out, and Mark drove him in with an RBI single that made the score 9-3. Joshn then retired Nate to end the inning.

The Slams got the runs right back in the bottom of the third. Steve led off the inning with his third blast of the game, a solo shot that made the score 10-3. Two batters later, Tom hit his third round-tripper of the game, and the Ham Slams led 11-3. Josh singled, and Steve drove him in with an RBI triple. Helal retired Dustin to end the inning, stranding Steve at third, and the Slams had made the score 12-3.

BK doubled to start the top of the fourth, but Eastbound couldn’t plate the run, as Josh retired Helal and Mark to end the inning.

The Slams would add two more to their lead in the bottom of the fourth. Josh tripled with one out, completing the cycle, and Steve drove him in with a two-run homer, his fourth of the game. Dustin singled, but Helal retired Tom to end the inning, and the Slams lead 14-3.

Eastbound cut the deficit to ten runs in the top of the fifth when Mark hit a one-out solo homer, making the score 14-4. Josh then retired Bk to end the inning.

Helal got Josh to fly out to the mound for the first out in the bottom of the fifth, and when Steve tried to turn a triple into an inside-the-park homer, which would have been his fifth of the game, he was caught out between third and home, ending the inning.

For the second consecutive inning, Mark hit a one-out solo homer, and Eastbound had cut the score to 14-5 in the top of the sixth. But they couldn’t rally, as Josh retired BK for the second out, ending the inning and the game.

The win moved the Ham Slams to 2-4 on the year, and the loss dropped Eastbound & Dahn to 2-4.

Bob Hits for Cycle, Tom Hits Three Homers as Questionable Outfit Routs Eastbound & Dahn 18-4

Bob had a legendary performance against Eastbound & Dahn, going a perfect 9-for-9 with 3 singles, 4 doubles, a triple, a home run (the cycle), 6 runs scored, and 3 RBI.

Bob fell just one hit shy of the single-game record, going a perfect 9-for-9 at the plate and hitting for the cycle, as Questionable Outfit rolled past Eastbound & Dahn. Tom had six hits, including three homers, and Mike contributed six hits and a complete game win on the mound for Questionable.

BK led of the game for Eastbound with a double, but, as he did throughout the game, Mike escaped without damage, retiring the next two batters, Mark and Nate, to strand the runner and end the inning.

Questionable jumped out to a lead in the bottom of the first against the Eastbound starter, BK. Bob doubled, and Tom followed with a two-run blast, putting Questionable ahead 2-0. Mike followed with a single, but when Miller grounded out for the first out of the inning, Mike was caught between second and third for the second out, ending the inning.

Helal doubled to start the top of the second, but once again Mike avoided trouble. He got BK to fly out to the mound, and Mark flew out to left to end the inning, stranding the runner.

Bob tripled to lead off the bottom of the second, and for the second consecutive inning, Tom followed with a two-run homer, putting Questionable ahead 4-0. The next batter, Mike, tripled, and Miller drove him in with an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-0. Bob then singled to put runners on the corners, but Questionable couldn’t add to their lead. Tom grounded out for the first out of the inning, and Bob was caught between bases for the second out.

Eastbound started the third inning with a hit, their third consecutive inning starting with a baserunner, when Nate led off with a single. Mike fanned Helal for the first out before allowing a single to BK, which put runners on the corners. Eastbound had two on, but Mike got out of another ja, getting Mark to groundout to center to strand both runners and end the inning.

BK gave up a single to Mike to start the bottom of the third, and two batters later, Bob hit a two-run homer to make the score 7-0. After a Tom double, Mike clubbed a two-run blast, and Questionable led 9-0. BK got Miller to groundout for the second out of the inning, and Questionable had opened up a seven run lead.

Eastbound would cut into the deficit in the top of the fourth. Helal hit a one-out double, and BK followed with a two-run homer to left. After Mark singled, Nate hit an RBI double, scoring Mark from first and the score was 9-3. Mike then retired Helal for the second out of the inning, but Eastbound had narrowed the margin to four runs.

Questionable bounced right back in the bottom of the fourth. Bob doubled, and Tom followed with a double to put runners on second and third. Mike hit an RBI single, clearing the bases and pushing the score to 11-3. Miller and Bob both followed with singles, and Questionable Outfit had a six run lead, the bases loaded, and no outs. Remarkably, BK escaped the inning without further damage. Tom flew out to shallow left for the first out of the inning, and Mike grounded out to center, stranding all three runners.

BK singled to start the top of the fifth, and he scored from first on a Mark RBI single, cutting the score to 11-4. Mike then retired Nate and Helal to strand Mark at first, ending the inning.

Mike pitched the complete game win for Questionable Outfit, scattering four runs on ten hits in six innings

Eastbound had narrowed the deficit to seven runs, but Questionable Outfit put the game away in the bottom of the fifth. Thanks to a series of errors, Questionable doubled their lead. Miller tripled to start the inning, and Bob drove him in with an RBI double to make the score 13-4. Tom then crushed his third two-run homer of the game, and Questionable led 15-4. Mike, Nate, and Bob each singled to load the bases for the second time in the game. Tom hit an RBI single, driving in one run, and the score was 16-4. Mike had a second opportunity for a grand slam, but he grounded out to right. One run scored on the play, and Questionable led 17-4. Miller hit his second single and third hit of the inning, driving in another run, and the lead was extended to 18-4. Bob then doubled to put runners on second and third, however, BK finally got out of the inning when Tom grounded out to center, stranding two runners. The seven run inning put Questionable Outfit ahead 18-4.

After the huge bottom of the fifth, Questionable Outfit wrapped things up quickly in the top of the sixth. Mike sent BK and Mark down in order, ending the inning and the game and giving Questionable Outfit the 18-4 win.

The win moved Questionable to 5-0 on the season, and the loss dropped Eastbound & Dahn to 2-3.

Les Hits Walk-Off Single to Give Cookies & Cream 7-6 Win Over Eastbound & Dahn

After a dramatic at-bat, Les hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to give Cookies & Cream their first win in 2017

In what may be his final career appearance on the Wiffle Diamond, Les, who has played sparingly since being an original member of 2012 champions the Caucasians, suited up for Cookies & Cream and hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to lead them to victory. After an epic at-bat that included nearly ten foul balls, Les roped a single to left, scoring Jordan from second and giving Cookies & Cream the win.

Guthrie started on the mound for Cookies & Cream, and after giving up a one-out single to BK in the top of the first, he retired Helal to strand the runner and end the inning.

BK took the mound for Eastbound, and he cruised through the bottom of the second, retiring the side in order, and the game was tied through an inning.

Guthrie continued to roll in the top of the second, sending both of Eastbound’s Nates down in order.

Cookies would get on the board in the bottom of the second immediately when Erich led of the inning with a solo shot to right, and the score was 1-0. Two batters later, Les hit a one out single, and Guthrie followed with a two-run shot to left-center, putting Cookies ahead 3-0. BK then retired Joey, ending the inning.

Guthrie remained effective in the top of the third, sending BK and Helal down in order, and Cookies led 3-0.

Guthrie would provide himself some insurance runs in the bottom of the third. Erich and Jordan each singled, and after a Les groundout that advanced the runners, Guthrie hit a one-out double that cleared the bases, and Cookies & Cream led 5-0. Helal retired Joey for the second out of the inning, and Eastbound trailed by five.

After dominating the first half of the game, Guthrie got into trouble in the fourth and wouldn’t make it through the inning. The first batter he faced, Nate O, tripled, and Nate C drove him in with an RBI double to put Eastbound on the board. After a BK single put runners on the corners, Helal doubled to empty the bases, and the score was 5-3. The Eastbound rally continued when Nate O hit a two-run blast to center, tying the game at 5-5. Eastbound had chased Guthrie from the game and tied the score with five consecutive hits in the bottom of the third. Cookies brought Joey into the game, and he escaped the inning with the game tied. He retired Nate C for the first out of the inning, and after a BK single, Helal was retired for the second out of the inning.

Eastbound also made a pitching change, bringing Helal to the mound in the bottom of the fourth. He retired the side in order, and the score was 5-5 heading into the fifth.

Nate C would single with out out in the top of the fifth, but he was stranded when BK grounded out to end the inning.

Cookies & Cream would reclaim the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Guthrie hit a one-out solo homer, making the score 6-5. Helal retired Joey to end the inning, and Eastbound trailed by a run heading into their final at-bat.

Joey retired Helal to start the inning, and Eastbound was down to their last out when Nate O hit a line drive off the fence. After a series of fielding and throwing errors, Nate raced around the bases for an inside-the-park homer, tying the game at 6-6. Joey retired Nate C to end the inning, and Eastbound had rallied the for the second time in the game.

Helal remained on the mound in the bottom of the sixth, and he retired Erich for the first out of the inning. Jordan followed with a single, and the tying run was on base. Les came to the plate, and he fouled off pitch after pitch, as the drama escalated. Les finally connected on a towering fly ball to left, and just as it looked like he would hit a walk-off two run homer, the ball trailed into foul territory for yet another foul. A few foul balls later, Les finally connected on a frozen rope off the fence in left. Jordan raced around the bases from first and scored. Les’s walk-off hit gave Cookies & Cream the 7-6 win.

Cookies & Cream earned their first win of the year, moving to 1-3. The loss dropped Eastbound & Dahn to 2-2.

Nate and BK Lead Eastbound & Dahn to 6-2 Win Over Ham Slams

BK allowed only two runs on seven hits in the complete game win for Eastbound & Dahn

Nate O’s three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth put the game out of reach for the Ham Slams, and Eastbound & Dahn’s 6-2 win gave them a winning record in the standings for the first time in nearly a year and a half. BK allowed only two runs in a complete game win, and Nate went 2-for-4, driving in four runs in his first appearance on the Wiffle Diamond in 2017.

BK gave up a leadoff single to Josh to start the top of the first, and he stranded him, retiring Dustin and striking out Steve to end the inning.

Josh took the mound for the Ham Slams, and he matched BK in the bottom of the first. After allowing a leadoff single to Nate C, he got BK to groundout to left, and Nate was doubled up on the play, ending the inning.

The Ham Slams took the lead in the top of the second. Josh singled with one out, and Dustin hit an RBI triple, scoring Josh from first to make the score 1-0. The Slams couldn’t plate Dustin from third, however, as BK got Steve to fly out to right to end the inning.

Eastbound bounced right back in the bottom of the second. Helal tripled to start the inning, and Nate O, in his first at-bat of 2017, grounded out to center, allowing Helal to score on the play to tie the game at 1-1. Nate C put Eastbound ahead when he followed with a solo homer to center, the first of his career. Josh retired BK to end the inning, and Eastbound led 2-1.

BK cruised through the top of the third, retiring Dan and striking out Josh to maintain the one-run lead.

Nate O got his first hit of 2017 when he doubled with one out in the bottom of the third, but Josh stranded him, retiring Nate C to end the inning.

The Slams would even things up in the top of the fourth. Steve hit a one-out double, and Dan got his first hit of 2017, an RBI single to score Steve and tie the game at 2-2. The Slams couldn’t pull ahead, as BK retired Josh to strand Dan at first and end the inning.

Eastbound’s two Nates converge on a fly ball in deep right center field. The Nates combined for five hits and drove in five of the six Eastbound & Dahn runs.

Josh rolled through the bottom of the fourth, retiring BK and Helal in order, and the score remained 2-2.

BK matched Josh in the top of the fifth, sending Dustin and Steve down consecutively.

Eastbound would break the game open in the bottom of the fifth, pulling away from the Slams with a series of hits. Josh retired Nate O for the first out of the inning, but Nate C followed with a one-out single. BK then singled to put runners on first and third, and when Helal became the third consecutive Eastbound hitter to single, Nate scored from second, making the score 3-2. With one out and runners on first and second, Nate O put the game away, hitting a three-run blast to clear the bases and put Eastbound ahead 6-2. Josh retired Nate C to end the inning, but the Slams, who came into the inning tied with Eastbound, now trailed by four heading into the sixth.

BK stayed on the mound to close things out, and it looked as if he would be in trouble. Dan and Josh each singled to start the top of the sixth, and the Ham Slams had two runners on with no outs. But BK buckled down, getting Dustin to fly out to shallow right for the first out of the inning, and the runners did not advance. Steve then flew out for the second out of the inning, stranding both runners to end the game, giving Eastbound & Dahn the 6-2 win.

The win moved Eastbound to 2-1 on the season, and the Ham Slams dropped to 1-2 with the loss.

Questionable Outfit Shutout Eastbound & Dahn 7-0 in Postponed Game

After three innings of the fourth game in week one, the Eastbound & Dahn vs. Questionable Outfit matchup was postponed due to darkness. The game was resumed in week 2, and Questionable Outfit cruised to a 7-0 win as Norris, Miller, and Mike combined to throw a shutout. Bob and Mike each contributed three hits, and Kimble homered in his first at-bat of the 2017 season.

BK took the mound for Eastbound, and he avoided trouble early. After giving up a one-out double to Rairigh, he retired Miller to strand the runner and end the inning.

Norris made his first start of the 2017 season for Questionable Outfit, and he cruised through the bottom of the first, retiring the side in order.

BK continued to pitch effectively in the top of the second. Bob singled with one out, but was stranded, as BK retired Rairigh to end the inning. Norris matched BK in the bottom of the second, and the game was scoreless through two innings.

Questionable Outfit got on the board in the top of the third, finally cracking BK. Miller led off with a single, and two batters later, Bob doubled to drive him in and make the score 1-0. Rairigh followed with a one-out double to drive in Bob, and Miller then singled for the second time in the inning, scoring Rairigh. BK retired Norris to end the inning, and Questionable led 3-0.

Mark led off the bottom of the third with a single, and two batters later, Nate singled to put runners on first and third with no outs. Eastbound had a chance to cut into the Questionable lead, but Norris got BK to groundout to left, ending the inning and stranding the runners.

Norris pitched three shutout innings for Questionable Outfit before the game was postponed due to darkness

After three innings, the game was delayed due to darkness, and play resumed one week later to begin week two. Nate Offut was entered into the Eastbound lineup for Mark, and Tom made his 2017 debut, replacing Norris in the Questionable lineup.

One week later, BK remained on the mound for Eastbound, and after giving up a one-out single to Rairigh, he escaped the top of the fourth without damage, and the score remained 3-0.

Miller replaced Norris on the mound, and after giving up a lead off single to Helal, he gave up another single to Nate. Unfortunately for Eastbound, Helal was caught in between first and second on the play, and Miller then retired Christian to end the inning.

Questionable added to their lead in the top of the fifth. In his first at-bat of 2017, Kimble hit a towering bomb to left-center, and the solo shot made the score 4-0. Bob followed with a double, and two batters later, Miller hit a one-out double to drive him in, making the score 5-0. BK then retired Kimble to end the inning.

Miller cruised through the bottom of the fifth, retiring Nate and striking out BK, as the score remained 5-0.

Questionable tacked on two additional insurance runs in the top of the sixth. Bob led off with a double, and he moved to third when Rairigh followed with a double. With two runners on, Miller grounded out to center, but both Questionable baserunners scored on the play, and Questionable led 7-0. BK then retired Kimble to end the inning, and Eastbound trailed by seven heading into their final at-bat.

Rairigh closed out the game for Questionable, sealing the victory. He also went 4-for-6 at the plate with a single and three doubles.

Rairigh took over for Miller on the mound, and he made quick work of Eastbound in the bottom of the sixth. He retired Helal and Nate in order, ending the game and giving Questionable Outfit a 7-0 win.

The win moved Questionable Outfit to 2-0 on the season, and Eastbound & Dahn fell to 1-1 with the loss.
