Form Powers Guac Boys to 9-5 Game One Win Over Jack Shack

Form returned to Playoff Form, hitting two home runs and helping Guac Boys take an early lead in their first round series with Jack Shack

The 2023 postseason was a coming out party for Form, as he had monster performances in both the first round and the Wiffle Series and was one of the most dangerous bats in the 2023 playoffs. He appears to have returned to Playoff Form in 2024, leading off the game and series with a home run and later hitting a three-run homer that put the game away as Guac Boys rolled past Jack Shack in the opener of their first round series. Five Guac Boys players had multiple hits, Bohn and Jan each pitched effectively to keep the Jack Shack bats in check, and after pulling ahead 9-2, Guac Boys held on to win 9-5 to take an early lead in the best-of-five series.

Bohn started on the mound for Guac Boys, and he retired the side in order in the top of the first, sending Josh and Jon D down consecutively.

Jon D took the mound for Jack Shack, and the first batter he faced, Form, hit a solo homer to left-center, putting Guac Boys ahead 1-0. Bohn singled, and two batters later, Tone hit a two-run shot to right-center, making the score 3-0. Jon D retired Jan to end the inning, and Jack Shack trailed early.

Bohn rolled in the top of the second, sending Jacob and Ryan down in order.

Bohn retired Josh to end the inning, and Jack Shack had cut the Guac Boys lead in half.

Bohn led off the bottom of the third with a single, and Alec followed with a two-run homer, pushing the Guac Boys lead to 6-2. Jon D retired Tone and Jan to end the inning, and the Guac Boys lead was back up to four runs.

Bohn got back on track in the top of the fourth, retiring Jon D and Jacob in order, maintaining the four-run lead.

Guac Boys continued to add to their lead in the bottom of the fourth. Jude singled, and Brum followed with a single, putting runners on the corners with no outs. Form cleared the bases with a towering three-run homer, and Guac Boys led 9-2. Two batters later Alec hit a one-out double, but Jon D stranded him, retiring Tone to end the inning, and Guac Boys led by seven runs.

Ryan led off the top of the fifth with a solo homer, making the score 9-3. Josh tripled, and he scored when Jon D grounded out for the first out of the inning. Bohn retired Jacob to end the inning, and Jack Shack had scored two runs to cut the Guac Boys lead to 9-4.

Jude hit a one-out double in the bottom of the fifth, but Jon D stranded him, retiring Brum to end the inning, and Jack Shack would need five runs in the sixth.

Guac Boys turned to the bullpen in the top of the sixth, bringing Jan to the mound. The first batter he faced, Ryan, doubled, and Josh followed with an RBI double to score him, cutting the score to 9-5. Jack Shack couldn’t rally, however. Jan retired Jon D and Jacob to strand Josh at second, ending the inning and the game, giving Guac Boys a 9-5 game one victory.

The win gave Guac Boys a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five first round series, with the winner of the series advancing to the Wiffle Series.

Lucas pitched six innings of relief, allowing only one run on four hits, as Shady Characters closed out the 2024 regular season with a 5-1 win over Guac Boys

The 2024 EWL regular season came to a close when Shady Characters beat Guac Boys 5-1 in a rematch of last year’s Wiffle Series. Lucas allowed only a single run on four hits and struck out two and was in command throughout, allowing only one Guac Boys hitter to advance beyond second base in six innings. Thomas closed out his outstanding rookie campaign going 3-for-3 with two singles, a double, and a run scored, and the three-time defending champs enter the playoffs as the #1 seed on a three-game winning streak.

Tom started on the mound for Shady Characters, and he allowed a leadoff single to the game’s first batter, Alec. Shady Characters then brought Lucas in from the bullpen, and he stranded the runner, striking out the first batter he faced, Bohn, before retiring Tone to end the inning.

Jan took the mound for Guac Boys, and he retired Tom and Nate in order in the bottom of the first.

Lucas retired Jan to start the top of the second, and the next batter, Form, launched a solo homer to left-center, giving Guac Boys a 1-0 lead. Lucas then retired Brum to end the inning.

Tone led off the top of the fourth with a single, and he moved to second when Jan followed with a single. It looked as if Guac Boys would rally, but Lucas buckled down, striking out Form and retiring Brum to strand both runners, maintaining the two-run lead.

Tom started the bottom of the fourth with a solo homer, extending the Shady Characters lead to 4-1. Nate doubled, and he moved to third when Thomas followed with a double. Billy hit a sac-fly to right center, allowing Nate to tag and score on the play, pushing the Shady Characters advantage to 5-1. Jan retired Lucas to strand Thomas at second, and Shady Characters led by four runs.

Lucas remained on the mound to close things out for Shady Characters, and he made quick work of Guac Boys in the top of the sixth. He retired Jan and Form in order, ending the inning and the game, giving Shady Characters a 5-1 victory.

The win moved Shady Characters to 13-7 on the season, and the loss dropped Guac Boys to 10-10.

One week after giving up six runs in the sixth inning in a shocking loss to Cheap Goats, Guac Boys fell prey to late game heroics again, as Jack Shack scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to beat Guac Boys 4-2. Jack Shack’s first batter of the game, Josh, hit a double, before Bohn retired eight consecutive hitters, allowing only a single hit through four innings. The wheels fell off in the fourth as Jon M and Ryan each hit two-run homers, and the loss ensured the Guac Boys, who finished the first half 8-2 in sole possession of first place, would not win the 2024 regular season pennant. With the win, Jack Shack clinched the #3 seed, while also clinching the #2 seed for Guac Boys and the 2024 pennant for three-time defending champions Shady Characters.

Bohn retired Jon D to end the inning, but after controlling the game through four innings, Guac Boys would need two runs in the top of the sixth to save their chance at the #1 seed.

After five innings, Guac Boys led 7-3 and had allowed Cheap Goats to amass only four hits, one inning away from victory, pulling even with Shady Characters atop the league standings. The wheels fell off in the top of the sixth, however, as Cheap Goats rallied to score six runs, taking a 9-7 lead and closing things out in the bottom half of the inning. Courtlen led the way for Cheap Goats, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, two runs scored, and three RBI, including the game-winning hit, a triple that drove in two runs in the top of the sixth, putting his squad ahead for good.

Bohn took the mound for Guac Boys, and after allowing a one-out double to Courtlen, he retired Christian to strand the runner, ending the inning.

Dinger started for Cheap Goats, and after allowing a one-out triple to Bohn, he retired Form to strand the runner at third, and the game remained scoreless.

Kevin led off the inning with a solo homer, narrowing Guac Boys lead to 7-4. Joey followed with a solo shot, and the back-to-back homers cut the score to 7-5. Courtlen tripled, and he scored when Christian followed with a sacrifice fly to center, narrowing the deficit to a single run, 7-6. Dinger singled, putting the tying run on base, and he scored from first when Kevin followed with an RBI single, tying the game at 7-7. Joey singled, putting runners on first and second with one out. Courtlen unloaded the bases with an RBI triple, scoring two runs and putting Cheap Goats back in front 9-7. Jan was in control on the mound, allowing only three runs on six hits, and perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a home run, leading Guac Boys to a 6-3 victory over Shady Characters. After a five game losing skid to start the second half, with the win, Guac Boys had won two straight, and the win over their rivals pulled them even with Shady Characters, tied for first place in the EWL standings with three games to go.

Jan retired Thomas to start the game, and after allowing a one-out single to Nate, he stranded him, retiring Lucas to end the inning.
