Bohn of Guac Boys Named Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week

Guac Boys have been at or near the top of the EWL standings throughout the 2024 season, and Bohn’s performance on the mound and at the plate has been the most consistent factor as the franchise makes a push for their first ever Wiffle Series title. After an impressive first half, Guac Boys struggled out of the gate in the second half, losing five straight. They snapped the losing streak in week 8, thanks in large part to a big week by Bohn, and as a result, he was voted Wiffler of the Week.

In a 10-7 loss to Cheap Goats, Bohn went 3-for-5 with a single, two home runs, three runs scored, and two RBI.

In an 15-9 win over Jack Shack that snapped Guac Boys’ losing streak, he had a monster game, going 6-for-7 with a single, a double, four home runs, five runs scored, and six RBI.

In total, Bohn went 9-for-12 with two singles, a double, six home runs, eight runs scored, and eight RBI.

This is the second time this season (week 4) and the second time in Bohn’s career that he has been voted Wiffler of the Week.

Bohn and Tone Combine for Seven Homers in Guac Boys 15-9 Win Over Jack Shack

Bohn went 6-for-7 with a single, double, four homeruns, five runs scored, and six RBI to help Guac Boys snap their five-game losing streak

Guac Boys finished the first half of the 2024 in sole possession of first place, and they started the second half with five consecutive losses. They snapped the losing streak abruptly in a 15-9 win over Jack Shack, led by Bohn, who went 6-for-7, and Tone, who went 5-for-7, as the two combined for seven home runs and eleven RBI. The two Guac Boys sluggers outscored Jack Shack themselves, and Guac Boys stopped their slide down the EWL standings with a big win.

Jon D took the mound for Jack Shack, and Guac Boys got to him early. Bohn led off the game with a solo homer, immediately making the score 1-0. Tone followed with a solo shot, and the back-to-back blasts put Guac Boys ahead 2-0. Alec doubled, and he scored when Form followed with an RBI double, extending the lead to 3-0. Jan singled, putting runners on first and third with no outs. Two batters later, Tone hit a one-out RBI single, scoring Form, and the lead was 4-0. Jon D retired Alec to strand two Guac Boys runners, ending the inning, and Jack Shack were down four runs.

Jack Shack responded right away in the bottom of the first, hitting Bohn, Guac Boys’ starter, hard. Josh led off the game with a solo homer, and the score was 4-1. Jon M followed with a solo shot, as did Jon D, and Jack Shack had started the game with back-to-back-to-back homers to cut the score to 4-3. Two batters later, Ryan hit a solo shot, and Jack Shack had gone deep four times in their first five at-bats to tie the game at 4-4. Bohn retired Josh to end the inning, and the game was tied.

Jan hit a one-out double in the top of the second, and Bohn followed with his second homer of the game, a two-run shot that put Guac Boys back in front 6-4. Tone doubled, but Jon D stranded him, retiring Alec to end the inning.

Jon D hit a solo shot with one out in the bottom of the second, cutting the Guac Boys lead to 6-5. Jacob doubled, but Jan, who had entered the game for Guac Boys in relief, retired Ryan to strand the runner at second, ending the inning.

Jon D retired Form and struck out Jan in the top of the third, and the score remained 6-5.

Jan matched Jon D in the bottom of the third, retiring Josh and Jon M consecutively.

Guac Boys added to their lead in the top of the fourth. Bohn started the inning with a single, and Tone followed with his second homer of the game, a two-run bomb that made the score 8-5. Alec singled, and Form followed with a two-run shot, putting Guac Boys in front 10-5. Jon D retired Jan, but Bohn followed with his third homer of the game, a solo blast that extended the Guac Boys lead to 11-5. Jon D retired Tone to end the inning, and Guac Boys had opened up a six run lead.

Jack Shack responded once again in the bottom of the fourth. Jon D doubled, and Jacob followed with a two-run homer, cutting the score to 11-7. Ryan also homered, and the back-to-back jacks narrowed the deficit to 11-8. Josh singled, and he moved from first to third when Jon M singled. Jan got Jon D to ground out for the first out of the inning, but Josh scored on the play, and Jack Shack trailed 11-9. Jan retired Jacob to end the inning, and Jack Shack had cut the Guac Boys lead to two runs.

Form hit a one-out single in the top of the fifth, but Jon D stranded him, retiring Jan to end the inning.

Ryan led off the bottom of the fifth with a double, but Jack Shack couldn’t rally. Jan retired Josh and Jon M to strand the runner at second, ending the inning and maintaining a two-run lead.

Guac Boys added insurance runs in the top of the sixth. Bohn led off the inning with his fourth round-tripper of the game, a solo shot that extended the lead to 12-9. Tone also homered, and the two players combined for back-to-back homers for the second time in the game, making the score 13-9. Alec singled, and two batters later, he scored from second when Jan hit a one-out RBI single that pushed the score to 14-9. Bohn doubled, scoring Jan, and Guac Boys led 15-9. Jon D retired Tone to end the inning, stranding Bohn at first, and Jack Shack were down six runs heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Jan remained on the mound to close things out for Guac Boys, and he made quick work of Jack Shack in the bottom of the sixth. He retired Jon D and Jacob in order, ending the game, giving Guac Boys a 15-9 victory.

Guac Boys improved to 9-7 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 7-9.

Courtlen, Christian, and Kevin each went deep twice as Cheap Goats outlasted Guac Boys 10-7

Courtlen, Christian, and Kevin combined for six home runs and drove in all ten Cheap Goats runs in a 10-7 victory over Guac Boys. The game was tied 5-5 through four innings before Cheap Goats pulled away late, capped by Courtlen’s three-run homer in the top of the sixth. Dinger pitched the complete game win, handing Guac Boys their fifth consecutive loss to start the second half of the season.

Bohn started for Guac Boys, and he retired the side in order in the top of the first.

Dinger took the mound for Cheap Goats, and he matched Bohn in the bottom of the first, retiring the side in order.

Cheap Goats took an early lead in the top of the second. Christian led off the inning with a solo homer, making the score 1-0. Dinger singled, and Kevin followed with a two-run shot, putting Cheap Goats ahead 3-0. Bohn retired Joey and Courtlen to end the inning, and Cheap Goats led by three runs.

Alec led off the bottom of the first with a solo shot, cutting the score to 3-1. Form followed with a solo homer, and the back-to-back homers lowered the Cheap Goats lead to 3-2. Dinger retired Jan and Bohn to end the inning, and the Cheap Goats lead was a single run.

For the second consecutive inning, Christian led off the top of the third with a solo homer, pushing the Cheap Goats lead to 4-2. Bohn retired Dinger and Kevin to end the inning, and Guac Boys trailed by two runs.

Dinger retired Tone to start the bottom of the third, but Alec followed with his second solo shot of the game, cutting the deficit to 4-3. Form followed with a triple, but Dinger stranded him, retiring Jan to end the inning.

Joey led off the top of the fourth with a single but was called out trying to extend the hit into a double. Courtlen followed with a solo homer, and the score was 5-3. Bohn retired Christian to end the inning, and Cheap Goats led by two runs.

Courtlen cleared the bases with a three-run homer, putting Cheap Goats in front 10-6. Bohn retired Christian to end the inning, and Guac Boys were down four runs heading into their final at-bat.

The rally would end there, as Dinger retired Alec to strand Tone at second, ending the inning and the game and giving Cheap Goats a 10-7 victory.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 6-9 on the season, and the loss dropped Guac Boys, who came into the second half with an 8-2 record, to 8-7.

Jack Shack scored in all but one inning, led by Jon M who went 4-for-5 with a single, a triple, two home runs, two runs scored, and four RBI, continuing their midseason surge up the standings. Jon was also in control on the mound, scattering four hits and allowing only one run in a game Jack Shack controlled from beginning to end.

Bohn started for Guac Boys, and after allowing a one-out triple to Jon M, he retired Jon D, stranding the runner at third and ending the inning.

Jon M took the mound for Jack Shack, and after Bohn hit a one-out double, Jon struck out Form to strand the runner and end the inning.

Bohn retired Jacob to start the top of the second, but he had reached his innings limit for the week, so Guac Boys brought Jan to the mound from the bullpen. He immediately got into trouble. Ryan doubled, and Josh drove him in with an RBI single, giving Jack Shack a 1-0 lead. Jon M doubled, putting runners on the corners, and Jon D cleared the bases with an RBI double that made the score 3-0. Jacob tripled, scoring Jon D, and Jack Shack led 4-0. Jan retired Ryan to end the inning, and Guac Boys trailed by four runs.

Tom’s Two-Run Walk-Off Homer Caps Epic 10-9 Shady Characters Win Over Guac Boys

After colliding in the 2023 Wiffle Series, Shady Characters and Guac Boys have been battling for control of first place in the season standings throughout the 2024 season. Guac Boys went into the midway point of the season with a two game lead over their rivals, but after Shady Characters outlasted them in one of the best games of the 2024 season, Shady Characters pulled even into a tie for first place with seven games to go. An epic back-and-forth game with several lead changes ended when Tom came to the plate with a runner on second and Shady Characters trailing 9-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning. He crushed a two-run bomb to right-center, and his walk-off gave Shady Characters both a 10-9 win and a split for first place in the standings. Tom, Nate, and Thomas each contributed four hits and outdueled Form, Tone, and Jan, who had three hits apiece for Guac Boys.

Tom started on the mound for Shady Characters, and he retired Alec and Bohn in order in the top of the first.

Tom provided his own run support to start the game, hitting a leadoff homer off Guac Boys’ starter, Bohn, in the bottom of the first. Nate doubled, and Thomas followed with a two-run homer, putting Shady Characters ahead 3-0. Bohn retired Lucas and Tom to end the inning, and Guac Boys trailed by three runs.

Form led off the top of the second with a solo homer, cutting the score to 3-1. Jude followed with a double, but Tom stranded him, retiring Tone and Jan to end the inning.

The tie wouldn’t last long, and Shady Characters reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Lucas led off with a double, and he moved to third when Tom followed with a single. With no outs and runners on the corners, Nate hit a three-run homer, putting Shady Characters back on top 6-3. Thomas followed with a single, but when Lucas grounded out to the mound for the first out of the inning, Thomas was doubled up, ending the inning.

Guac Boys immediately responded in the top of the fifth. Form led off the inning with a triple, and two batters later, Tone hit an RBI single to score him, and Guac Boys traield 6-4. Jan followed with a two-run homer, tying the game at 6-6. Tom retired Alec for the second out of the inning, and Guac Boys had pulled even for the second consecutive inning.

Bohn rolled through the bottom of the fifth, retiring Tom and Nate in order, and the score was tied 6-6 heading into the sixth inning.

Tom retired Bohn to start the top of the sixth, but Form followed with his second homer of the game, a solo shot that gave Guac Boys their first lead of the game, 7-6. Tom retired Jude to end the inning, and Shady Characters would head into the bottom of the sixth trailing for the first time.

Thomas led off the bottom of the sixth with his second homer of the game, a solo shot that tied the game at 7-7. Shady Characters had a chance to put the game away, but Bohn escaped, retiring Lucas and Tom to end the inning, forcing the game to extras.

Tom remained on the mound in the top of the seventh, and he got into trouble. Tone led off the inning with a single, and he moved from first to third when Jan doubled. Guac Boys had two runners in scoring position with no outs and a chance to reclaim the lead in extra innings. Tom got the next batter, Alec, to ground out to left, but Tone scored on the play, putting Guac Boys in front 8-7. Bohn then singled, scoring Jan, and Guac Boys led 9-7. Tom struck out Form to end the inning, and Shady Characters would need another rally to extend the game.

Thomas then doubled, putting the tying runner in scoring position and the winning run at the plate. Bohn retired Lucas for the first out, putting Guac Boys an out away from an impressive come-from-behind victory. It wouldn’t play out that way, however. Tom came to the plate and launched a walk-off two-run homer, ending the game in dramatic fashion and giving Shady Characters an incredible 10-9 victory.

The win moved Shady Characters to 8-5 on the season, tied with Guac Boys, who fell to 8-5 with the loss.
