Mike and Bob Dominant as Loss Mitigation Pounds Cheap Goats 12-4

Questionable Outfit celebrate at the plate after one of Mike’s four homers. He went deep in his first four at-bats, leading Loss Mitigation to their first win of the 2018 season.

Mike continued his torrid start to the 2018 season, hitting home runs in his first four at-bats of the game and later adding a triple, as Loss Mitigation pulled ahead early and never looked back in a 12-4 win over Cheap Goats. Four time EWL Wiffler of the Year, Bob, started to warm up his bat as well, going 5-for-6 with a single, two triples, and two homers in a game that was never in question.

Norris started on the mound for Loss Mitigation, and he gave up an early lead to Cheap Goats. Joey singled with one out, and Andrew followed with a two-run blast to left, putting Cheap Goats ahead 2-0. Loss Mitigation would make up the runs, and more, in the bottom half of the inning.

After a strong performance in week one, Christian was pelted by Loss Mitigation in week two. Bob tripled to start the bottom of the first, and Mike followed with a two-run homer to left-center, tying the game at 2-2. Two batters later, Norris hit a triple, and Bob drove him in with an RBI triple that gave Loss Mitigation a 3-2 lead. Mike then homered for the second time in the inning, and his two-run blast made the score 5-2. Nate then singled, but Christian ended the rough first inning by retiring Norris. Loss Mitigation led by three runs after an inning, and they wouldn’t look back.

Down by three, Cheap Goats put a dent in the deficit in the top of the second when Joey hit a one-out solo homer. Norris then retired Andrew to end the inning, and the score was 5-3.

Loss Mitigation made up the run in the bottom of the second. With one out, Mike homered in his third consecutive at-bat, putting Loss Mitigation ahead by three runs with the score 6-3.

Norris retired Cheap Goats in order in the top of the third, and Loss Mitigation added a few more in the bottom half of the inning. Bob homered with one out, and his solo shot made the score 7-3. For the fourth time in as many at-bats, Mike crushed yet another homer, and his fourth blast extended the Loss Mitigation lead to 8-3.

Bob watches one of his five hits take flight. He returned to classic Bob form, going 5-for-6 with four extra-bast hits in the Loss Mitigation win.

Joey led off the top of the fourth with a solo homer, which cut the score to 8-4. Andrew followed with a double, but was caught out trying to extend the hit into a triple. Christian also doubled in the inning, but Norris retired Jordan to strand the runner and end the inning.

Mike of Loss Mitigation makes a tough catch on a towering fly ball, retiring Joey

Loss Mitigation kept tallying runs in the bottom of the fourth. Bob singled with one out, and although Christian finally kept Mike in the park, he gave up an RBI triple, scoring Bob to make the score 9-4. Nate followed with an RBI single to score Mike, putting Loss Mitigation ahead 10-4.

Norris kept the Cheap Goats’ bats in check, allowing four runs on six hits in a complete game win.

Cheap Goats went down in order in the top of the fifth, and Loss Mitigation added a few more in the bottom half of the inning. Bob started the bottom of the fifth with a solo homer, his second blast of the game, making the score 11-4. Two batters later, Nate hit a one-out solo homer, and Loss Mitigation led 12-4 heading into the sixth.

Nate’s late solo homer was the last of twelve runs in a Loss Mitigation blowout win.

Norris sent Cheap Goats down quietly in the top of the sixth, retiring Christian and Jordan in order, as Loss Mitigation picked up their first win of the season with the 12-4 victory.

The win moved Loss Mitigation to 1-2 on the year, and the loss dropped Cheap Goats to 1-2.

Porkswords Stun Loss Mitigation 9-8 with Walk-Off Win to Conclude Postponed Game

In only his second career at-bat, John hit his first home run in the EWL, a walk-over solo shot that gave the Porkswords a stunning 7-6 win over Loss Mitigation.

Loss Mitigation led 5-3 when their week one game with the Porkswords was resumed, and they had taken an 8-4 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning before the Porkswords mounted a dramatic and stunning rally. The Porkswords scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth, culminating in John’s walk-off solo homer, to win 9-8 and send Loss Mitigation to 0-2 on the season. Every Porksword reached base or drove in a run during the rally, and the first walk-off win of the 2018 EWL season moved the Porkswords to 1-1 in the standings.

Dustin took the mound for the Porkswords when the game started in week one, and he fell behind early. Bob led off the game with a solo homer, putting Loss Mitigation ahead 1-0. Two batters later Nate doubled with one out, but Dustin stranded the runner, retiring Norris to end the inning.

Nate started for Loss Mitigation, and after giving up a lead off single to Josh, he retired the side, and the score remained 1-0.

Mike makes yet another incredible one-handed catch for Loss Mitigation, as his teammates watch in awe.

Mike continued to swing a hot bat for Loss Mitigation, and in the top of the second, his one-out solo homer extended the score to 2-0. Nate retired the Porkswords in order in the bottom of the second.

Loss Mitigation added several insurance runs in the top of the third. Norris led off the inning with a triple, and Bob drove him in with an RBI double that made the score 3-0. Mike then doubled, putting runners on second and third with no outs. Dustin got Nate to ground out to left for the first out of the inning, but Bob scored on the play, extending the Loss Mitigation lead to 4-0. Mike moved to third on the play, but Dustin stranded him, retiring Norris for the second out of the inning.

Nate continued to roll in the bottom of the third, and Loss Mitigation led by four runs through three innings.

Mike kept punishing the Porkswords in the top of the fourth, hitting another one-out solo homer, making the score 5-0.

Down five, the Porkswords cut into the Loss Mitigation lead in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Josh hit a solo homer, putting the Porkswords on the board at 5-1. Dustin followed with a homer, making the score 5-2. When Miller also homered, the Porkswords’ back-to-back-to-back homers had cut the deficit to 5-3. Nate finally recorded the second out of the inning, and the game was postponed due to darkness with the score 5-3.

The game was resumed in week 2, with Loss Mitigation returning the same lineup, and the Porkswords inserting Steve and John into their lineup, each making their 2018 EWL debuts. Norris led off the top of the fifth with a single, but Dustin stranded him, and the score remained 5-3.

Josh went 4-for-5 for the Porkswords, with two singles, a double, a homer, and three runs scored.

Josh started the bottom of the fifth with a double, and he moved to third on Dustin’s sacrifice fly. Miller followed with an RBI single, cutting the score to 5-4. Norris then retired Steve to end the inning with the Porkswords trailing by a run.

Loss Mitigation would add a few more insurance runs for Nate in the final frame. Nate led off with a solo homer, making the score 6-4. Two batters later, Bob doubled, and Mike followed with his third homer in the contest, a two-run bomb to left that extended the Loss Mitigation lead to 8-4. Dustin retired Nate to end the inning, and the Porkswords trailed by four runs heading into their final at-bat.

John, making his first career EWL appearance, doubled in his first at-bat, and he moved to third when Josh followed with a single. With no outs and two runners in scoring position, Dustin singled, scoring John and cutting the score to 8-5. Miller came to the plate as the tying run, and he hit an RBI double to score Josh, making the score 8-6. Steve then came to bat as the tying run, with runners on the corners. He grounded out to deep right-center for the first out of the inning, but both runners were able to score on the play. The two-RBI groundout tied the game at 8-8, and the Porkswords had drawn even with Loss Mitigation. Norris remained on the mound, and John came to the plate for his second career at-bat. He looked calm and collected, and he raked a solo homer to deep left-center, ending the game. The walk-off homer was the first ever by an EWL rookie, particularly a rookie in their first career game. The Porkswords had rallied from four runs down to score five in the bottom of the sixth, beating Loss Mitigation in an epic week one (and carry over to week two) game.

The win moved the Porkswords to 1-1 on the season, and the loss dropped Loss Mitigation to 0-2.

Mike of Loss Mitigation Named Week 1 Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week

Players and fans voted Mike of Loss Mitigation the week 1 PBR Wiffler of the Week.

After winning the 2017 batting title, finishing runner-up in regular season MVP voting, winning the Wiffle Series, and being named Wiffle Series MVP, Mike started the 2018 season on fire. He went 8-for-10 and turned in the finest offensive performance of week 1. He had five extra-base hits, including three homers, and sat atop the League Leaders for most offensive categories. He also provided elite level defense for Loss Mitigation, as has come to be expected from the perennial Field Master. It looks as if Mike is already on his way to another MVP-caliber season in 2018. This is the 8th time he has earned Wiffler of the Week honors in his career. Mike was named PBR Wiffler of the Week twice in 2017, once in 2015, and four times in 2013.

Erich Homers Twice, Powers Shady Characters Past Loss Mitigation 7-5 in EWL Season Opener

Erich led his new team to a victory with an MVP performance, going 3-for-5 with three extra-base hits

2017 EWL MVP Erich picked up where he left off, starting the 2018 season with two home runs and five runs batted in, carrying his new team, Shady Characters, to a 10-3 Opening Day win over Loss Mitigation, led by 2013, ’14, ’15, and ’16 MVP Bob. Tom W, one of Shady Characters’ three rookies also went 3-for-5 in the game, and Tom K, also a rookie, pitched the complete game win.

Norris, who has made several sporadic appearances for Questionable Outfit in the past, started on the mound for Loss Mitigation. Dylan, making his EWL debut for Shady Characters, singled in his first career at-bat in the top of the first, and two batters later, Tom W drove him in with his first career hit, an RBI triple that made the score 1-0.

Tom K took the mound for Shady Characters, and after giving up a leadoff single to Bob, he retired the next two batters, ending the inning.

Norris retired Shady Characters in order in the top of the second, and Tom K matched him in the bottom of the second, as the score remained 1-0.

Shady Characters extended their lead in the top of the third when Tom W led off with a double, and the next batter, Erich, crushed a two-run blast to right field, making the score 3-0.

Loss Mitigation got on the board in the bottom of the third. Mike led off with a single and moved to third on a Nate double, putting two runners in scoring position. Norris grounded out to left for the first out of the inning, but Mike scored on the play, cutting the Shady Characters lead to 3-1. Tom K then retired Bob to strand Nate at third, ending the inning.

Shady Characters made up the run in the top of the fourth. Erich doubled with one out, and he scored from second on Dylan’s RBI single that made the score 4-1.

Mike led off the bottom of the fourth with a double, but Tom K stranded him at second, retiring the next two batters to end the inning.

2017 EWL Batting Champion Mike went 5-for-6 in the Loss Mitigation loss

Norris retired the Shady Characters side in order in the top of the fifth. and Loss Mitigation narrowed the deficit in the bottom half of the inning. Bob led off with a solo homer, and Mike followed with a solo shot. The back-to-back homers cut the score to 4-3 and pulled Loss Mitigation within a run. Two batters later, Norris hit a one-out double to put the tying run in scoring position, but Tom K maintained the lead, retiring Bob to strand the runner and end the inning.

Up a run heading into the final frame, Shady Characters added a few insurance runs and increased their lead. Each of the Toms singled with one out, putting two runners on for Erich, who crushed a three-run bomb, making the score 7-3. Norris retired Dylan to end the inning, and Loss Mitigation trailed by four.

Loss Mitigation made a run in the bottom of the sixth, starting with Mike, who singled to lead off. Nate, known for being one of the most clutch hitters in league history, hit a two-run homer to make the score 7-5. Norris followed with a single, and two batters later, Mike hit a single to put runners on the corners with the tying run on base and the winning run at the plate. Nate came to the plate with a chance to drive in five runs in the inning on two homers, including a walk-off, but he couldn’t repeat the magic. Tom K retired him to strand both runners, ending the inning and the game with Shady Characters holding on to win 7-5.
