Bohn of Guac Boys Named Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week

Bohn contributed on the mound and at the plate in week 4, helping Guac Boys win their fifth consecutive game and extending their first place lead in the 2024 standings en route to being voted Wiffler of the Week for week 4 of the 2024 EWL season.

In a 9-8 win over Shady Characters that extended Guac Boys hold on first place in the season standings, Bohn went 4-for-5 with two singles, a double, a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI.

In a 9-7 loss to Jack Shack, he went 3-for-4 with two singles, a double, a run scored, and an RBI.

In total, Bohn went 7-for-9 with four singles, two doubles, a home run, three runs scored, and three RBI.

This is the first time that Bohn has been voted Wiffler of the Week in his wiffle career.

Josh and Jon M Power Jack Shack Past Guac Boys 9-7

Josh and Jon combined to go 7-for-10 in the Jack Shack win, snapping Guac Boys six game winning streak

Josh and Jon M combined for seven hits and each homered twice, and Jon pitched a complete game win on the mound as Jack Shack beat Guac Boys 9-7. Jack Shack trailed 6-1 in the second inning but outscored their opponents 8-1 over the final five innings to earn the victory, snapping Guac Boys six game winning streak.

Jon M started for Jack Shack, and after allowing a leadoff single to Tone, he retired Brum for the first out of the inning. The next batter, Form, launched a two-run homer to deep center, putting Guac Boys ahead 2-0. Bohn and Alec each followed with singles, putting runners on the corners with one out, but Jon escaped further damage. He retired Tone to strand both runners, ending the inning.

Josh led off the bottom of the first with a home run, his third leadoff homer of the season. Guac Boys’ starter, Bohn, retired Jon and Jacob to end the inning, and the score was 2-1.

Guac Boys opened up a big lead in the top of the second. Jon retired Brum to start the inning, then Guac Boys went on a run. Form singled, and he scored from first when Bohn followed with an RBI double, making the score 3-1. Alec then launched a two-run bomb, putting Guac Boys in front 5-1. Tone followed with a solo shot, and the back-to-back homers made the lead 6-1. Jon retired Brum to end the inning, and Jack Shack trailed by four runs.

Jack Shack started to claw back in the bottom of the second. Ryan led off the inning with a double, and he moved to third when Josh followed with a single. Jon then singled, scoring Ryan, but Josh was caught out also trying to score on the play. Jacob followed with a two-run homer, and Jack Shack had cut the deficit to 6-4. Bohn retired Ryan to end the inning, and he had reached his innings limit for the week.

Jon cruised through the top of the third, retiring Form and Bohn in order.

Guac Boys brought Alec to the mound from the bullpen in the bottom of the third, and he immediately got into trouble. After retiring Josh to start the inning, he allowed a solo homer to Jon, making the score 6-5. Jacob singled, and Ryan drove him in with an RBI triple, giving Jack Shack their first lead of the game, 7-6. Josh then homered for the second time in the game, and his two-run shot made the score 9-6. Jon followed with his second homer of the contest, and the back-to-back jacks gave Jack Shack a 9-5 lead. Alec finally got out of the inning, retiring Jacob for the second out.

Alec led off the top of the fourth with his second bomb of the game, a solo homer that cut the score to 9-6. Jon then retired Tone and Brum to end the inning, and Jack Shack led by two runs.

Josh doubled with one out in the bottom of the fourth, but Jack Shack couldn’t add to their lead. Alec retired Jon to strand the runner, ending the inning.

Bohn singled with one out in the top of the fifth, but Jon stranded him, retiring Alec for the second out of the inning.

Alec rolled through the bottom of the fifth, retiring Jacob and Ryan consecutively, and Guac Boys trailed by two runs heading into the top of the sixth.

Jon remained on the mound to close things out for Jack Shack, and he made quick work of Guac Boys in the top of the sixth. He retired Tone and Brum in order, ending the game, giving Jack Shack a 9-7 victory.

The win moved Jack Shack to 2-6 on the season, and the loss dropped Guac Boys to 6-2.

Cheap Goats Pull Off Stunning Comeback Win with 12-11 Victory Over Shady Characters

Every Cheap Goats player had multiple hits and contributed to a seven-run rally in the bottom of the third en route to shocking Shady Characters 12-11

Cheap Goats trailed 8-1 in the third inning before riding a questionable umpire call to an offensive explosion, rallying to beat Shady Characters 12-11. Joey and Courtlen each went 4-for-5 to lead Cheap Goats, as Joey homered twice and Courtlen hit for for the cycle, holding off Tom’s 5-for-6 performance and a pair of homers from Thomas and Daniel. With the win Cheap Goats started their first winning streak of the season, and Shady Characters started their first losing streak in one of the more unusual games in recent memory.

Christian started on the mound, and Tom doubled off him to start the game. Two batters later, Lucas singled, and Shady Characters had runners on the corner with one out. Thomas singled, scoring Tom, and Shady Characters led 1-0. Christian then retired Daniel to end the inning, stranding two runners.

Lucas started for Shady Characters, and after retiring Joey to start the bottom of the first, Courtlen launched a solo homer, tying the game at 1-1. Lucas then retired Christian to end the inning.

Tom led off the top of the second with a single, and Nate followed with a two-run bomb, putting Shady Characters in front 3-1. Two batters later, with one out, Thomas hit a solo homer, extending the lead to 4-1. Christian retired Daniel to end the inning, and Cheap Goats trailed by three.

Shady Characters ballooned their lead in the top of the third. Tom led off with a solo homer, making the score 5-1. Two batters later, Lucas hit a one-out single, and Thomas followed with his second homer of the game, a two-run shot that gave Shady Characters a 7-1 lead. Daniel followed with a solo homer, and the back-to-back jacks made the score 8-1. Cheap Goats turned to the bullpen, bringing Dinger to the mound, and he retired the first batter he faced, Tom, to end the inning.

Down seven, Cheap Goats rallied in the bottom of the third. Joey led off the inning with a solo homer, cutting the deficit to 8-2. Courtlen tripled, and two batters later, Dinger singled. Both Dinger and Courtlen appeared to be out on the play, Dinger at first and Courtlen at home, but both runners were called safe, and Courtlen’s run made the score 8-3. Kevin then singled, and Joey came to the plate with runners on first and second and one out. He singled, scoring Dinger, and Cheap Goats trailed 8-4. Coutlen then singled, scoring Kevin, and the Shady Characters lead was 8-5. Christian emptied the bases with a three-run bomb, tying the game at 8-8. Lucas retired Dinger to end the inning, but Cheap Goats had scored seven runs in the inning, and the game was even through three innings.

Lucas singled with one out in the top of the fourth, but Dinger stranded him, and the game remained tied.

Cheap Goats took their first lead in the bottom of the fourth. Kevin led off with a double, and Joey followed with a two-run homer, putting Cheap Goats in front 10-8. Shady Characters made a call to the bullpen, bringing Tom to the mound, and the first batter he faced, Courtlen, doubled. Tom retired Christian and Dinger, however, stranding Courtlen at second and ending the inning.

Shady Characters bounced back in the top of the fifth. Daniel led off the inning with a solo homer, and Tom followed with a solo shot of his own. The back-to-back homers tied the game at 10-10. Nate singled, and Lucas followed with a single, putting runners on first and second with no outs. It looked as if Shady Characters were about to blow the game open again, but Dinger buckled down. He retired Thomas and Daniel, stranding both runners, and the game remained tied at 10-10.

Lucas returned to the mound in the bottom of the fifth, and Kevin led off the inning with a solo homer, putting Cheap Goats in front again 11-10. Joey singled, and two batters later, he scored when Christian hit an RBI single, making the Cheap Goats lead 12-10. Dinger then singled, and it now looked as if Cheap Goats would open up a bigger lead. Lucas escaped, however, retiring Kevin to strand two runners, and Shady Characters trailed by two runs heading into the sixth.

Christian returned to the mound in the top of the sixth, and Tom led off the inning with a solo homer, his third of the game, making the score 12-11. The rally would end there though, as Christian retired Nate and Lucas to end the inning, giving Cheap Goats a highly improbable 12-11 victory.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 3-5 on the season, and the loss dropped Shady Characters to 5-3.

Joey, Courtlen, Christian, and Dinger each had four hits as Cheap Goats cruised past Jack Shack 8-4. Cheap Goats led 8-1 and held on to win 8-4 thanks to four extra-base hits by Joey, three by Courtlen, and two by Christian and Dinger. Dinger pitched the complete game win on the mound, scattering four runs on seven hits.

Ryan took the mound for Jack Shack, and after retiring Joey to start the game, he allowed a one-out single to Courtlen. Christian followed with a double, putting runners on second and third with one out. Dinger then singled, scoring Courtlen, and Cheap Goats led 1-0. Kevin hit an RBI single to score Christian, and the score was 2-0. Joey followed with a double, but Kevin was thrown out trying to advance to third on the play, ending the inning.

Dinger rolled through the bottom of the first, retiring Josh and Jon M in order.

Ryan hit a one-out double in the bottom of the fifth, but Jack Shack couldn’t capitalize. Dinger retired Josh to strand the runner at second, ending the inning, and the score remained 7-1.

Kevin hit a one-out double, in the top of the sixth, and Joey drove him in with an RBI double that pushed the Cheap Goats lead to 8-1. Ryan opted to intentionally walk Courtlen, putting runners on first and second with one out. Christian then singled, loading the bases for Dinger. Ryan escaped the jam, getting Dinger to fly out to the mound, stranding all three runners and ending the inning.

Jack Shack entered the bottom of the sixth down seven runs, and they attempted to rally. Jon M doubled to start the inning, and two batters later, Ryan hit an RBI to score him, cutting the deficit to 8-2. Josh followed with a two-run homer, and Jack Shack had narrowed the Cheap Goats lead to 8-4. Jon M singled, but Dinger retired Jacob for the second out of the inning, ending the rally and giving Cheap Goats an 8-4 victory.

Guac Boys Walk-Off Into First Place with 9-8 Comeback Win Over Shady Characters

Tone went 3-for-5 with a single, two homers, and four RBI, including the game-winning walk-off single in the bottom of the sixth

After losing to Shady Characters in the franchise’s first Wiffle Series appearance in 2023, Guac Boys have been chasing the defending champs in the standings throughout the early portion of the 2024 season. They fell behind 8-4 in their week 4 matchup with the champs before scoring five unanswered runs in the fifth and six inning to stun Shady Characters, beating them 9-8 and passing them for first place in the season standings with their sixth consecutive win. Bohn led Guac Boys, going 4-for-5 with two singles, a double, a homer, two runs scored, and two RBI in addition to pitching the complete game win on the mound. Tone also went 3-for-5 with a single, two homers, two runs scored, and four RBI, including the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the sixth, as Guac Boys took control of the standings in week 4.

Bohn rolled through the top of the first, retiring Tom and then striking out Nate.

Tom started for Shady Characters, and he stranded a runner in the bottom of the first. After allowing a one-out triple to Form, Tom retired Bohn to strand the runner in scoring position, and the game was scoreless through an inning.

Guac Boys got on the board in the bottom of the second. Tone led off the inning with a solo homer, putting his team ahead 1-0. Two batters later, Alec hit a one-out solo homer, and the score was 2-0. Tom retired Form to end the inning, and Shady Characters trailed by two runs.

The Shady Characters offense woke up in the top of the third. Daniel led off with a double, and he moved to third when Tom followed with a double. Nate singled, emptying the bases, and the game was tied at 2-2. Lucas then singled, scoring Nate from second, and Shady Characters took their first lead of the game, 3-2. Thomas then singled, scoring Lucas, and the score was 4-2. Daniel singled, and Thomas scored from first, making the score 5-2. Tom doubled for the second time in the inning, scoring Daniel, and Shady Characters led 6-2. Bohn finally escaped the inning, retiring Nate and Lucas to strand Tom at second, but Shady Characters had reached base safely in seven consecutive at-bats to take a four-run lead.

Guac Boys chipped into the Shady Characters lead in the bottom of the third. Bohn led off with a single, and Tone drove him in with his second homer of the game, a two-run shot that made the score 6-4. Tom retired Brum and Alec to end the inning, and Shady Characters led by two.

Shady Characters made up the difference in the top of the fourth. Thomas led off with a double, and he moved to third when Daniel singled. With no outs and runners on the corners, Tom singled, scoring Thomas, and Shady Characters were in front 7-4. Two batters later, Lucas hit a one-out single, scoring Daniel, and the score was 8-4. Bohn then retired Thomas to strand Tom at third and Lucas at first, ending the inning.

Bohn hit a one-out double in the bottom of the fourth, but Tom stranded him, retiring Tone to end the inning, maintaining the four-run lead.

Bohn got back in a groove in the top of the fifth, retiring Daniel and Tom in order.

Down 8-4, Guac Boys started to rally in the bottom of the fifth. Brum was retired to start the inning, and Alec followed with a one-out double. He scored when Form followed with an RBI double, cutting the Shady Characters lead to 8-5. Bohn followed with a two-run homer, and the score was 8-7. Tom retired Tone to end the inning, and the lead had been trimmed to one.

Bohn once again pitched effectively in the top of the sixth, sending Nate and Lucas down consecutively, and Guac Boys would need a run in the bottom of the sixth to extend the game.

Tom remained on the mound for Shady Characters, and he allowed a leadoff triple to Brum to start the bottom of the sixth. Guac Boys had the tying run at third, but Tom got Alec to fly out to the pitcher’s mound for the first out of the inning, leaving Brum unable to score on the play. Down to their last out, Form hit a one-out RBI single, scoring Brum, and the game was tied at 8-8. Bohn followed with a single, moving Form to second and putting the winning run in scoring position. Tone came through for Guac Boys once again, hitting an RBI single that allowed Form to score from second, giving Guac Boys a 9-8 come-from-behind walk-off victory over the defending champs.

The win moved Guac Boys to 6-1 on the season, and the loss dropped Shady Characters to 5-2.
