In the third game of week 1, Fish Sticks exploded for 14 runs over the second, third and fourth inning to pull away from 4 out of 5 Dentists and move to 2-0 on the season.

Joey was on the mound for Fish Sticks, battling against Jordan of 4 out of 5, the first pitching appearances of the season for both players. Both pitchers retired the sides in order in the first inning heading into the second scoreless.

4 out of 5 Dentists got on the board first when Braydn doubled to drive in Geoff and put the Dentists up 1-0. Joey worked his way out of the jam, stranding two runners and holding the deficit to 1.

Fish Sticks started the damage in the bottom of the second and never looked back. Joey, Blose, and Dinger all singled to start the inning, Dinger’s driving in the first two batters, and following a Vassallo fly out, Joey drove in two runs with his first home run of the season. Blose then flew out to end the second with Fish Sticks up 4-1.

4 out of 5 stranded one runner in the top of the third without scoring a run, and Fish Sticks went back to work with the sticks. In the bottom of the third, Vassallo, Joey and Blose hit back-to-back-to-back solo home runs, the first consecutive home runs in league history, to add three to Fish Sticks total, pushing their lead to 7-1. The bombs chased 4 out of 5 Dentist’s starting pitcher Jordan from the mound, as team captain Ron made the call to the pen bringing in Geoff. He was able to retire the only batter he faced in the third.

In the top of the 4th the Dentists narrowed the lead by a run when Jordan doubled to drive in Geoff from first. The score was 7-2 and was as close as the game would get.

After Vassallo flied out to start the bottom of the 4th, Fish Sticks pummeled Geoff for seven consecutive hits, with each batter scoring. The seven hit stretch included another home run and double from Joey, a double from Blose, and a triple from Dinger. Ron called Braydn in to replace Geoff on the mound. He gave up an RBI single to Vassallo, but then got Joey to ground out to retire the side. After four innings Fish Sticks led 14-2.

Despite a multitude of fielding errors throughout the third and fourth innings, 4 out of 5 hadn’t quit yet. They rallied in the top of the fifth as Geoff and Jordan led off the inning with two singles. Braydn then drove them both and himself in with a three run shot, cutting the lead to 14-5. Joey remained on the mound and retired Ron and Geoff to end the inning.

Fish Sticks added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth when Blose led off the inning with a solo home run, his second of the game. Braydn then retired Dinger and Vassallo to end the inning. Joey then retired Jordan and Braydn in order in the top of the sixth to end the game and give Fish Sticks the win, moving 4 out of 5 Dentists to 0-2.

Not a big deal but Geoff actually started the game and Jordan came on in relief of him.
