Ron Lets Up Only Three Hits to Pumice on Slow! as Dentists Roll 8-2

Brad watches one of two Dentists' homers sail over the outfield fence in an 8-2 loss

Pumice on Slow! was ravaged by fielding errors and silenced at the plate by Ron as 4 out of 5 Dentists cruised to an 8-2 win.

Riding a three game win streak, the Dentists sent Ron to the mound to face Pumice on Slow! in the first match-up of week 6, while Pumice started their ace Gaurav. Gaurav retired Ron to start the game, but Chris singled with one out. The next batter, Spads, hit a two-run line drive homer to make the score 2-0 early in the game. Gaurav ended the threat by retiring Ron.

Ron retired Brad and John in order in the bottom half of the first, and Gaurav sent down Chris to start the top of the second. With one out, Spads doubled putting a runner in scoring position for Ron. Ron singled, but as Spads was rounding third, unsure whether to hold third or try to score, Gaurav got the ball on the mound, retiring him and ending the inning.

After making the smart play in the field, Gaurav helped his own cause by leading off the bottom of the second with a solo home run, cutting the deficit to 2-1. After retiring Holly, Brad singled with one out. But John couldn’t drive him in to tie the game, flying out to the mound and stranding the runner.

Chris led off the top of the third with a single, and advanced to second when Spads singled for his third hit of the game. With runners on second and third, Ron singled to load the bases for Chris. Chris flew out to deep center, but drove in a run on the sacrifice fly moving the score to 3-1. With runners on second and third, Spads flew out to end the inning.

Down two, Pumice was retired in order in the bottom of the third when Gaurav and Holly were retired in order. Mike Marr stepped into the lineup and to the plate to lead off the top of the fourth, and singled. Ron grounded out, but advanced Mike to second. With one out, Chris doubled, scoring Mike, and making the score 4-1. With Chris on second, Spads doubled, driving him in, pushing the Dentists’ lead to four runs. Ron followed by grounding out to left, stranding Spads at second and ending the top of the fourth.

With the score 5-1, Brad led off the bottom of the fourth by flying out to center. John stepped to the plate next, and crushed a solo shot to left field, cutting the score to 5-2. Ron retired Gaurav next to end the inning, maintaining a three run lead with two innings to play.

Up four, the Dentists added insurance runs in the top of the fifth. Mike led off the inning with a single, and Chris followed with a two-run home run, moving the score to 7-2. With no outs, Spads singled, and advanced to third when Mike singled, putting runners on the corners. Ron grounded out to center field, but drove in Mike on the play to make the score 8-2. With one out and a runner on third, Chris grounded out to end the inning.

With the deficit at six runs, Pumice couldn’t get their bats going in the bottom of the fifth. Ron retired Holly and Brad in order, sending the game to the final frame.

Gaurav retired Spads to lead off the top of the sixth, and Mike singled with one out. But the Dentists couldn’t add to their lead, as Ron grounded out to end the inning.

Pumice was unable to rally in the bottom of the sixth, as Ron capped the complete game three-hitter, retiring John and Gaurav in order to end the game. The win gave the Dentists their fourth straight win, whereas the loss was Pumice’s third loss in as many games.
